Great video! I recall vividly the pain of procrastination at school. The worst thing was they would say, “ oh you’re so smart. How come you can’t get your work done?” Being called smart became such a trigger, if I was actually smart I’d be able to finish my work. Just so much self loathing for so long because I didn’t know I had ADHD. Great video, ADHD Girl! Ps I also failed a required statistics class and only passed it the second time because I joined a study group.

It feels so good to know I'm not the only one haha! And yeah the "you're so smart why can't you do it" comment became such a proof of failure and a trigger for me as well!! thank you for sharing

Neat! I've never seen a fear assessment matrix before. Thank you for sharing!
Procrastination has been the bane of my existence, lol. So often, I wished I started school assignments earlier.
It's sad sometimes. ADHDers are often very intelligent and creative, but having an interest driven brain can often mean putting off the important, but boring thing. Add in past negative feelings and fears, and it can be very tough sometimes.

Don't know if I have ADHD, but certainly have the fears you described. I often try to block my fears out of my mind. But I find that when I can face them, writing them down and thinking about the consequences, makes them more manageable. Thank you.

Negative thoughts are a severe disabler and a key source of procrastinating.

Thank you so much for sharing. I can relate, the embarrassment and negative thinking on why can't I do things on time like others in my age range. I literally resigned from a basic admin job as I couldn't complete tasks on time that were excel based. However, I would say there is better out there. Please keep up the good work!

Pls someone help me i ruined my life by procrastination i ruied my 11th and 12th grade now i have to attend college but since i studied mothing due to procrastination and adhd(undiagnosed) depression (diagnosed) and anxiety (diagnosed) i have no knowledge i am failing college entrance exams i hate my life now i hate myself had i studied even a little bit my life would have been better i have stopped doing everything even my basic task life hygiene. I tried everything todo journal timer nothing is helping i went to a therapist in 11th grade it really helped me i only went for 3 months but then i guited because my parents dont have enough money to pay for it i did not wanted to be a burden so i told my parents i was ok now and stopped receiving therpy and my life has been downhill ever since now i really want to end it all but then i read my old journal and remember how cheer full i was and what all my dreams and goals were i feel even more broken . What makes me feel even more broken is my parents support me so much but in return i am nothing but a loser they are the best but i am a loser

As an adult who's faced a lot of challenges, I want to tell you that despite what you're going through now, there are still lots of good things waiting for you. But first, take care of yourself and reduce stress. Take a high-quality rest - breathe fresh air outside, get a good night's sleep, etc.
Then, think about what you're good at and what interests you. Give yourself credit for your strengths instead of being hard on yourself for what doesn't go as planned. It's great that you have old notes with goals, but having too many can feel overwhelming. Try focusing on just 1 or 2 main goals each month, like improving your health. And if you can, check out free group therapy sessions or community organizations nearby for extra support.
Have an open conversation with your parents about how you're feeling to lighten the emotional load. Their support is precious, so don't hesitate to reach out. I went through tough times, working bad jobs and attending a less-than-ideal university because I lacked clear goals in my younger years. Looking back, I wish I had more guidance, but that's life. Despite regrets, I've come to realize, in my thirties, that there's always room to grow.
Please believe that you have numerous opportunities waiting for you. I'm fond of the saying, "365 days in a year mean 365 new chances." If something doesn't succeed initially, it may work out next time. Alternatively, it might not be your calling, and that's okay. Keep exploring until you find what suits you best. I'm sending you my support and wishing you the best of luck. Don't give up!🤍

@@talyacold thank you soo much for this answer 🤍. I know what i love it's coding(I like it because I like to create things) so I may have to go to a tier 3 college to pursue my btech in cse cuz as I mentioned I am failing my entrance exams. This is a bit depressing cuz neither will I get good education nor I will get a good starting package but as you said everyday is a new chance so I will still do my best as my elder brother says "give your 100% in each and every task you do". (I will always come back to read your answer it gave me comfort that I am not alone and there is still hope to get better).

Not fear. Just a lack of dopamine-mediated motivation. The gas pedal doesn't have a connection to the engine without it. That's a bit of internalised NT ableism you have their. We all have some.
