I'm an osrs player with some recent experience in rs3 and I never thought we would see a survey regarding MTX. Hoping for the best!

MAYBE, just MAYBE they can add new ways to gain bonus xp rather than this treasure hunter pay to win scheme.

Inb4 they move jagex to the U.S. to circumvent gambling regs.
They did get insider information from the Parlimentary Gambling Commsion in the Uk three years ago! Jagex were explicitly singled out for criticism, above even the likes of EA and Ubisoft. They will not have forgotten this and now that there is a new Labour government in charge that is far more sympathetic to actually implementing the Gambling Commision's reccomendations they are clearly now seeing if it's worth jumping before they are pushed.
if treasure hunter gets removed, whatever takes its place will be equally as bad, and I prefer cheaper membership than the replacement of treasure hunter. It's very easy to just ignore treasure hunter if you don't like it

It's not just about treasure hunter being something to ignore. It's that TH has been a replacement for what could have been in-game content for far too long. Two examples immediately come to mind when there are hundreds.
1) soul/aurora dye should be a clue reward. People have been asking since their release to make them a reward for medium clues and yet they keep bringing it back with mtx
2) platinum torva/virtus/pernix could have been a cosmetic unlock either as a drop from nex or from some challenge mode. Think blood torva in osrs. There should be reasons to revisit old content, even if it's just something cosmetic
People like you, no offense, is why treasure hunter is so dangerous. Because you guys don't think about TH as anything other than something that brings in some random xp and cosmetics that u can ignore
@@wonder_9 How much time do you think it takes to make treasure hunter promotions? I'd say, maybe a week at the high end, even with the heavily diminished team left working on RS3.
Let's say hypothetically the things you mentioned would have been better off as in game content (which honestly I think is maybe the smallest problem RS3 is facing), if Jagex wanted it to be a thing they could have easily done it. It's an insane assumption to make to say "if treasure hunter didn't exist this could have been in game content." Clearly they just didnt want it as in game content. In a world where treasure hunter didn't exist they wouldve just made the Nex armors a cosmetic that you buy with runecoins and never introduced the dyes, or put it in another promotional event.
The removal of treasure hunter doesn't magically make people's desires come to fruition. All it does is put a hole in Jagex's profits and incentivizes them to find a quick replacement for that lost revenue.
@@wonder_9 Those are cosmetics you can ignore. You listed nothing but cosmetic changes to items. Plenty of content is added to the game all the time. Complaining that TH has cost players in-game experiences is ridiculous. Play ironman and stop complaining about everything. You could earn aurora and soul dye during certain events when they released by playing the game so you are making literal no sense by using those as examples.
@CaptnWeatho Those "events" are pure rng that are aided by TH (getting whatever currency with every key), not to mention they literally put the Dyes directly as rewards on treasure hunter. Actually just stfu. If you wanna play Ironman and don't care about cosmetics then do that and ignore me. But plenty of people want to see those dyes on the clue table. And cosmetic armour-variant rewards from challenge mode PvM is very popular on osrs. Don't act like anything I've said is unpopular or unreasonable. Why are TH defenders so god damn insufferable

I went absolutely NUTS about this poll.
As someone who got 5.8b XP total without buying a single key, I assure anyone who thinks they're too busy irl that it is possible to reach any goal without it (eventually). That of course doesn't mean there were no daily keys, daily challenges, etc, which were MTX-derived, but I genuinely remember the days before MTX with such fondness that I really believe it could completely change the way other people view the game. RS3 has had nothing but bad press about TH for years (mostly coming from the very OSRS purists who left the game, not because of MTX, but because of EoC). With MTX removed, the idiots who for some reason have nothing better to do than spread false or misleading information about how bad RS3 is will be completely without a leg to stand on and will just have to admit the real reason they quit was EoC.

I will definitely be very annoyed if it's removed, I mean it's already been implemented and people have already put time and money into it! Sure I was not fond of it at first either, but I have grown to love the cosmetics and earning keys and all the cool stuff that's come with it
It's true that many people are dumb and think RS3 is bad for reasons that aren't even true but you're on copium if you think the game isn't a bad runescape game it's an OK mmo but a terrible runescape game

it requires $575 aud worth of bonds to get max bank space on a brand new account. jagex expects money from elsewhere if they remove TH but in all honestly they don't deserve it, they've been over milking us is one of the big issues, they forget people are paying members not free players, too often they treat the game like it's a freemium game.
This would probably get me playong rs3 again i won't lie. I mean i don't understand action bars and whatnot but I'd consider it.

2 NO MTX
3 Allow bonds
4 Allowing buying of cosmetics ( with an option for other people to hide cosmetics)

As an outsider the microtransactions is what always kept me from starting this game. If they do then I'm in.
Thanks for sharing the link they hid the survey almost as well as they hid new content. Necromancy has never appeared on my new main until i went to draynor they really should be pushing these new skills.
Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it. 2x-3x membership? If the option to pay with Bonds isn't removed, that's 5.4b-8b gp just at current prices. Wouldn't look forward to that 😓. Haven't paid a dime for membership since they came out. Maybe directly buy lamp/star packs, etc. They are not going to just get rid of their biggest revenue stream without replacing it with something of equal or greater value. May possibily effect OSRS in some way too. Since the removal of Yak Track (which I liked)/Hero Pass, MTX is lightly noticeable. You don't get pop-ups, flashing icons, etc. Imo people want their cake and eat it too. Like the current Phoenix promo, iirc promos like this come back. They usually have cookie cutter promos like Mysteria, Genie Wishes, etc.
I would gladly pay 4x membership of the game become Full P2P experience like the old days... No MTX no TH no solmon store etc... even bonds can get removed as well but that will upset a lot of players.
OSRS Player burnt out from the grind, started RS3, and srsly, would pay 1 year membership on another account and restart if they remove MTX and make a fresh world server. Hoping for the best, completed the survey
if they remove treasure hunter it would boost the opinion of peoples views on runescape 3, the micro transactions and lack of pvp is what makes old school more favorable
I'm ok with th being removed, just don't remove bonds . Only reason i'm member is cuz i can pay for it with in game money :D
They'd probably make bond prices 10x if they removed mtx. Meaning you gotta pay 2b per bond to stay alive. Or just go find another game till you get out of school just so you can work and pay for rs mem😂
If Jagex doesn’t make money through gameplay, then how are they going to create new content to keep the game going? Their employees need paid somehow based off of revenue/profits. TH also allows new low level players and even higher level to skip through all the tedious, boring parts of the game so they can focus on the end game stuff which is the best part.

I like Treasure Hunter, just wouldn't buy keys. I do wish I would have bought my membership through that Steam bundle that gave a bunch of keys and stuff for only about $20 than I was paying for a straight annual membership.
Honestly at this point MTX has been in the bones of the game for a decade or so. Simply removing it wont fix the damage. Jagex would need to pull a FFXIV: A Realm Reborn with the game. Wipe the entire thing clean and start from scratch. Sure removing all the mtx is a good start, but the next step would be to make fresh start servers that have no interaction with the other worlds.
I don't give a single care about cosmetics. I only do my daily keys plus the 3 of the daily challenges. I'm happy with the stars and lamps i get. I also liked the old blue proteans way more then the new red proteans. But if they remove the whole thing i would be fine with it to. If people want to buy overrides or cosmetic outfits just let them buy it on the homepage of the game or something. But whatever they deside to do. Please don't let them push the members cost up again.
Im an ex rs3 player, ive been playing osrs for few years as an Ironman, I would come back if there was no micro transaction as a normie!
Great Video my man. People need to spread the word even more that people need to do this Survey! Also Asian markets are cracking down on this too now so Jagex could lose both EU and Asian Markets in the near future. I also think the TH revenue must have finally dried up since the only popular TH events are cosmetics which people would rather buy in a bundle compared to spending hundreds of keys trying to get a random piece of a cosmetic and people are tired of it.
Can they afford to cut MTX without trying to recoup the lost revenue by increasing membership prices? I for one don't want to see a huge price hike on membership if they were to get rid of MTX. Price is already closing in on $15 a month. Realistically how much higher can they go without deterring new and existing players to quit because of the price hike?

I still think bond packs for lamps/stars or just making these things more obtainable through gameplay and putting good cosmetics and revamping Solomon's to actually be better is the way to go.
In the survey they're gauging whether players would be happy to be more for membership if it means removing MTX as a whole. Membership is already obscenely expensive per month compared to other sub based MMO's due to the 1 membership per character so I wouldn't be surprised if they charged £15-£20 a month for membership per account if they decided to remove TH as a whole to claw back some of that lost revenue
Would that be okay with you? I mean name me a game you get better value out of than runescape, plus a year membership will always br cheapest
@@ChevalricRS I would argue every other sub MMO because you can run multiple characters per 1 membership whereas Runescape you're limited to just the 1 character. RS membership should be priced more affordable to have alts like it was years ago. If they do anything then I'm hoping they eventually go the route of having affordable cosmetics in Solomons that would've been in TH and ditching TH altogether 🤞
@@ChevalricRS A sub plus runemetrics in Australia is well over any MMO, whereas other MMOs dont forcibly push in-game transactions unlike RS3 does. Its much different depending on you local currency but its definitely not what you'd call "Better value" That's just me though. Everyone's opinion is different
@@ChevalricRS WOW, FF, just to name a few. The only way they could make it worth it at an increased price would be to make Membership account wide so all your characters get members when you pay for it.
Membership would probably more than double and I bet bonds for Membership would also be gone. Cash only membership because that becomes their primary source. I am fine with microtransactions, within reason. Especially with older games
The question is, if they remove microtransactions are you willing to pay $10/month more?
A hopeful retort is maybe mtx is dwindling so rapidly that theyd consider it regardless.

@@johnspencer8982 Very unlikely. the $25/month is a paywall. You only encounter MTX when you are playing the game. It could maybe work if the disparity from free to play to membership was not so insanely high.

An increase in membership price would be fine to mitigate the removal of some of the more aggressive MTX systems in the game. I personally pay for my membership directly because I think of it as my way of supporting the game, and by listening to their playerbase on these issues, then in my eyes they'd earn that extra money.

If membership skyrockets not worth it since all my goals and accomplishments have been easily gained by TH xp.
If 110s come into game that might get people to stay or return for the sense of accomplishment.
I think if they balanced TH, by reinstating the oddment/trade-in value I.e a 4x red = 1200 oddments, and reduced the key purchase amount to say 250 oddments per key, it keeps it balanced so the people that WANT to buy keys can carry on, and a lot more “f2p MTX’ers” can have more of a fighting chance to unlock the cosmetics/TH rewards going forward and not feeling like they have to spend money because of FOMO.
I could be waaaay off the mark with it, but I for one actually really like TH, I preferred the old model (as I mentioned above) vs the new one due to a lot more keys required to achieve things, a prime example of this is the new phoenix event that’s out at present, there’s no way to unlock everything in the shops without buying keys.

treasure hunter is a huge part of my enjoyment in this game, that being said i don't typically buy keys with money but sometimes bonds for keys is fun and wasteful why not. but also i'd actually consider quitting rs3 if they do do away with treasure hunter and microtransactions lol
Let's not get it twisted, this isn't in the interest of the playerbase.
Governments are cracking down on random loot box type MTX, Jagex just want to know where else they can rinse us for money.
Jagex, as far as RS3 is concerned, has been nothing but a money grab for the past few years, with their playerbase quickly dwindling - they have had to come up with extra means to pull in more money.
They can pump out MTX updates weekly, yet fail to give us content that isn't completely buggy on release - every time, without fail.

I did the survey but with how the team has been i don't think anything will come out of it. They really need to focus on increasing the player base. The biggest issue is that there talking about increasing the membership, a game that is much more substantial than Runescape like WOW is only a couple more dollars a month, they release huge content almost yearly, clearly Jagex is extremely greedy and wants more money for less work.
they need to off set the revenue loss from treasure hunter somehow and honestly for a few extra dollars a month im completely fine with that. treasure hunter has needed to go since it launched way back. this is a step in the right direction and i really hope something good comes from it.

@@Bladedanced The best way for them to offset the cost would be to focus on Cosmetics, most MMO's with the quality of Runescape are F2P, only making money from Microtransactions but theres nothing wrong with Cosmetics costing real money, it doesnt effect gameplay in any way and as long as there not shuving it down peoples throats it would be fine. The way i see it, if they raise the monthly cost, they should give up on new players. They will just go to FF or WOW because they get content just as often and it would be the same price. Another thing is if the game becomes more popular they can make more money from merch.

I'm one of the players that quit on spot when eoc launched, logged in and didn't even spend a minute there I absolutely hated it and still do. So much bitterness but it's best to not go there!
Jagex take your plant out of the pot, cut the rotten roots off and plant it in a new pot, it might thrive..
All i want is the xp and items that can be made or skilled in game removed keep it straight cosmetics
I did the survey but i have mixed feelings because yes the xp lamps and bonds help me out but i know other players may not like treasure hunter and bond's and i know its not healthy for the game so, i think jagex should rebalance treasure hunter and nerf it but not remove. To be honest i doubt they will remove it at all, or might just try it change things with it like with the rng. I dont like chance or rng with treasure hunter, especially if im paying real money...
I pretty much said that I don’t care for it at all, but I’m OK with stuff like cosmetics on Solomons store as long as we still get pretty cool armor in the game gameplay, but that I was completely against treasure Hunter and all the lamps and stars and money. RuneScape three just doesn’t feel rewarding like Old School RuneScape does all your level ups. Don’t feel like they mean as much because you’re just handed so much extra bonus experience that it ruins it… I haven’t touched my main account that I’ve had since I was a kid ever since Iron Man came out for RuneScape three

Pointless removing TH... Imagine being a new or low level player and having to grind all skills the good old fashioned way knowing thousands of maxxed characters had it easy. That's enough to put anyone off. Just draw a line under it and make all future skills unbuyable

I play osrs I just saw a video of a guy commenting on this, I searched rs3 mtx on youtube and every video has like 10k views, this is groundbreaking news and the videos talking about it only have 10k views??? that only indicates how small the playerbase of rs3 is, Jagex is desperate to get people to play rs3 again
I was quite surprised about this, I filled it out and I am fine with some cosmetic MTX but get rid of treasure hunter and up the membership price some I am fine with.
they're already almost as much as warcraft and have upped their price several times, I personally don't want to pay them more than we currently do, it hardly feels worth it most of the time as it is.
@@cheekyjebus5559 but the mtx is a huge turn off to gamers in general more than a monthly sub, plus WOW also sells expansions so it would still be way more money overall compared to an upped sub price of rs3. Plus this would help with integrity of the game and entice more players to comeback or try for the first time, hence more subs and less mtx needed.

I’m sorry but I think it’s too late for rs3. The game frankly isnt that good and the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. They should develop something similar but with more modern elements on a better engine. But they wont they’ll just keep milking yall 😂
You guys understand that RS3 MTX is Jagex's largest source of revenue, right? Revenue from membership for both RS3+OSRS doesn't even come close to what they make from MTX.
If you guys are fine with spending like $20-30 a month for membership, then sure. Otherwise, idk why a lot of you even care. You're either playing OSRS or an ironman anyways.
Get rid of Treasure Hunter and RuneMetrics but keep cosmetics/overrides no one would have a problem with it. I honestly don't recommend rs3 to people because the game is just Dogshit however if they are serious about this rs3 can make a comeback but they have to give us QOL like osrs is getting or it will not survive. Like for the love of god give us menu entry swapper so I can left click to GE with my Ring of Fortune simple shit like that goes a long way..
I got 99 ranged from treasure hunter lol it doesn’t bother me much cuz I just don’t buy them and it is fun for a daily log in on f2p
I’m not paying more for membership if treasure hunter is removed. Remove treasure hunter period. Games a quarter of the price for one years worth of membership provide 10 times more content than this half dot dot dot game. Here is one, Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Grim Dawn and Fate, the cursed king… All legendary games that cost way less and are more fun than RuneScape.

Treasure hunter doesn't need to be removed. No one has to buy anything from it. Otherwise, how would ironman function? I say leave it for those who want it.
