Definitely not a DPS exotic, but probably one of the most fun exotics and something Bungie really needed to do, which was Exotics that synergise with OTHER elements besides their own. Most Exotics are just "Oh youre on Void, use this Void exotic" and visa versa, only exception being Kinetic. But having a Solar be primarily useful on Stasis is good stuff man, because it opens up that Kinetic slot to use a Stasis Primary or Special too.
a perfect weapon for the near Dynasty Warriors level of add density we have in the current sandbox. can really put a dent in Majors, while simultaneously cleaning up all the trash mobs surrounding them.

Heck if they gave us like Doctor Nope from D1 would been better lol
C'mon, its going to be worse than cloudstrike. Theres only a couple rotations in the game that can swing with how powerful and smooth Cloudstrike/Crux termination is.
You have to force yourself to snipe. Find a sniper you like and use nothing but that as your special. It's going to suck and your going to get frustrated but I promise you'll get the hang of it and enjoy it.
This seems like it'd be great for certain Prismatic builds since shattering a Frozen target causes an Ignition, meaning the Facet of Ruin could pull double duty on one gun assuming you can get those freeze procs, which can be easy with something like Bleak Watcher (especially with the Warlock build Cross shared earlier) or certain Chill Clip weapons.
A neat thing with Icebreaker is that you can casually get max ammo via Icebreaker being stowed, then swap it to a Cloudstrike and have almost no-loss to ammo. It's insane as a swap weapon for ammo top off.
*I think the catalyst should be:* “Landing precision hits *Scorches* the target (x35 per hit), *Igniting* the target loads a round to the magazine with a chance to load another round when *Igniting* a *Frozen* target”.

It's kinda a waste of a slot cause there are so many things better for "running and running through a gm" I feel like they could've added a feature where you overcharge the mag 5 or so bullets, but requiring a higher kill quota and those overcharged rounds deal however much more damage
@@cerebralassassin2185 There are already a ton of guns better for gms, it's not the worst option, at least it has an extremely specific niche for 1 singular piece of content in a game with quite a bit more content to do other than that, but at least it sounds nice. Pair icebreaker with a lead from gold special weapon that can put on the weapon perk Heavy Ammo Finder Enhancement and you can easily run double specials.

Genuinely one of the most enjoyable exotics to use next to conditional, being able to use it as a giga buffed railgun slug shotgun with auto loading feels so good
I think cross should have tried throwing the bleakwatcher turret at the boss so it could spawn crystals to detonate and trigger that first ignition and shatter damage with the rime coat rainmwent. Cause after 8 seconds the crystals respawn and he can cause another major shatter/ignition. I think his damage would have been a lot higher and you would also have less travel time for the bleak watcher projectiles. Something to think about...
Something worth noting about Ice Breaker, and this might be a dumb bad take, but damage boosts will effectively be better on Ice Breaker, especially for the whole run and gun thing.

Here’s an idea. Dps phase use silence and squall on prismatic hunter to hunt down adds and feed ice breaker while doing dps. Shurikins for distance melee kills. Prismatic dot grenades to lock down an area and get kills on adds walking into it em and all of it feeding ice breaker. Might be fun to try
I'm beyond happy they actually made it an Icebreaker! I got so much BS for saying it should work with Stasis! Hopefully this opens the door for more Exotics to combo with their opposite elements! I really dont think it's meant to be a DPS Exotic! It was a PVP mainstay in D1! Using it in PVP with an Osmiomancy Shadebinder just regular Coldsnap freezes will be HORRIBLE to go up against 😄 I'm also thinking with the Catalyst? It should be pretty nasty against Champions, Shatter & Ignition Damage before we even factor in any kind of Artifact Mods, this season & beyond. Should be a pretty beasty Champion Slayer!
Honestly i think it could use a rpm buff to make it churn out those ten shots faster. Its great if you are using stasis tho cause you can just cause ignitions pretty much whenever you want from range. On prismatic this thing will cook. On solar i can already see it starting infinite ignition chains. Nothing meta defining but nothing terrible either. You are disadvantaged for bringing into content.
didint have to do the contest for icebreaker lol, got it first try on normal completion along with my friend, the dungeon really is amazing, contest is scary tho, although it feels like the first encounter is the hardest because of 6 minute timer(and final is probably a pure CBT)

If you have an Icebreaker with it's catalyst paired with someone else using Ager's Scepter in super mode. You could near constantly ignite a boss. I'd be very curious to see the DPS of that.
I miss guna like these that had just bonkers perks or were so unique they made whatever build specialize around it. There’s a few d2 exotics that are like this but most are just really juiced up legendaries and that sucks. Guns like ice breaker would basically define how you were going to be playing in either pvp or pve. Now it feels like exotic armor is the key factor in controlling your builds which isn’t terrible because there’s a lot of awesome armor but I like when you get an exotic and you’re just like oh shit this gun is nuts.
Definitely not ideal for DPS but in encounters where you're getting swarmed with enemies on the side (as few as they are) you can drop a damaging effect or a stasis turret next to you, and since they're ability kills they can replenish ammo. Not the most useful tech but a worthy consideration.
Now hold up. I am still on the side of cloudstrike doing more dps. But to be fair, you did do couldstrike with catalyst vs icebreaker without catalyst. You may need to retest it after catalyst is released

Its basically whisper, but for everything besides boss damage. There is so little void damage representation besides edge transit and choir of one.

its not triple tap at all, you still need a frozen/slowed target which means someone in your fireteam has to run stasis related abilities/perks vs what they could be running as potential "meta" like twilight garison or welllock etc.

Hunter stasis super can freeze repeatedly with maybe a duskfeild grenade added in. With others using some sort of chill clip weapons.

The reserve mods not working makes sense, because it looks like Icebreaker has a max of 0 in reserves. All the ammo goes into the mag.
To add to it, it's in the perk itself. No Backpack = No reserves

For DPS , probably meant to be treated as a rotational swap where you only use it when the boss is frozen for crit then instantly swap back to heavy
