Hi Rhiannon, I'm from the UK and I'm probably a bit older than some of your followers. I love art but feeling the same, no mojo etc. I had a go with a pen and post it and ended up drawing a squiggle that I love so it's gone on the wall!!! Thank you for that little gem of advice . 🤗
Post it notes! What a fabulous idea! Post it’s don’t feel as intimidating. They are small, and they can be easily tossed… for those of us with that silly voice telling us everything must be perfect! And starting with just a line. So manageable. Love this whole idea!
Exactly! That scary voice we all have is so mean and stops me from doing things I love, so starting small is a great way to break that pattern. Thanks for your comment :)
When my daughter, now 20, was about 8, she had a teacher who gave the students a paper with a doodle. It was only a line, never straight. The kids would draw and elaborate on the one squiggle of a line. I have awesome drawings from my daughter. Her imagination was so incredible to me.
OK, I did this! I used a pencil and a small sketchbook. I keep trying to draw something every day but never seem to keep it up as I can’t think of anything. Starting with just a line makes it less intimidating somehow. Hopefully I can keep going now. Thanks for the inspiration.
Yay! Love this! Totally hear you on getting stuck on what to draw. Perhaps I'll make a video about that, as I have this too. Keep drawing your lines and see where it leads you :)
I’m inspired by this method….I’m excited to get started…jumped in the comments to share a THANK YOU & was reminded that you didn’t make this video specifically for me.😂😂😂 Your words really resonated with where I am in my art journey right now…THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
Just walked over to the table, picked up the post-its and drew a squiggle. Now it's a person hailing a bus. This is very actionable! I'll keep it at my desk. Thanks!
@@rhiannonjamesart I thought I'd update you. 10 post-its in! My lines are getting better! I drew a bunch of moai statues panicking because a volcano is erupting behind them! =P It's really helping me de-rust. Thank you so much for the help!
Far out. That was really beautifully articulated and presented. Show up for yourself and keep going. And thank you for adding value to my life 😊 I have now subscribed and turned notifications on 💚
Thanks! New subscriber. I paused this in the middle and grabbed what I had within reach and worked on creating my logo for my new art biz! Success! 🎉🎨🖌️
Hi I'm new here from the UK 🇬🇧. I really enjoyed this video. I'm a massive procrastinator and this idea is amazing. Would love to see how I can make other areas of my life the same 😊
Yep, I'm inspired! I started drawing last year when I made a book of poems for my daughter, but my drawing habit came and went... well, now it's coming back! In post-it note form! Thank you.
Your idea and encouragement is just what I needed to hear today! I’ve created collage and have done some drawing since I retired, but I’ve been struggling lately to do anything artistic. It all seems a little overwhelming. But, I can definitely make a few marks on a post-it note! I’m going to start again today. 😊
I love this SO much & I’m starting while my water boils tomorrow morning for sure! It’s the perfect teeny goal for my ADHD mind & im already betting that I’ll probably wind up spending lots of time on this, in no time. Thanks so much!!!
I think you and I are very similar. I kind of want to draw better and better, but it can sometimes be the little steps that I miss. I am trying to do more now. I can go through a month where I have done a few drawings a day and then I might have a bit of a break. I am finding with even half an hour, I can actually get a really decent sketch out and can learning and improving.
That's awesome! I agree, and have seasons of creating and seasons of breaks when it feels right. I'm glad the small steps are helping you to create more.
If you want to take this further there is a book called: The Sticky Note Guide to Life by Chaz Hutton. It is his funny take on life using Post-it notes.
I did this back i n yr 12, I had some cheap post-it notes. I would make various colour patterns with the highlighters n kept it in a cheap book. I would draw something in class or during lunch. Sometimes my classmates contributed to the book. After, I finished the book I stopped. I still have the book.
Just starting..... i love preparing but freeze when it's time to actually DO.... haha. Your ideas and showing your own progression was very helpful. I'm retired. Doing art for myself feels selfish, like that's not enough of a purpose or reason. That feeling is a big stumbling block for me. Do you have advice ?
I'm the same! The DOING is the hardest part. Sounds like there's some emotional reasons that hold you back? I have some thoughts on whether art making is selfish, so I think I'll make a video for you. Thanks for your comment!
I love your artworks, their so interesting, explanatory, and packed with emotion. And they're also drawn so well. 🩷💜‼️ Thanks for this idea, I think I'll try it. 🫂👍🏼👍🏼😁💜

Yes, love that. It's a starting place to launch imagination from, which is a muscle we can grow with practice. Thanks for your comment!
Great suggestion, I have a ton of extra pages in this year's bujo and now I think I want to fill them with sticky note doodles! Thanks for this!
What a wonderful idea. I am so happy RUclips dropped this video into my feed! (also I love the expression "the bee’s knees!") 😸

@@rhiannonjamesart well, I'm on a 2-day streak that's already been fun! Kinda makes me want white post-its, though. 😂
