Another classic, it’s my first year in Jomtien retirement, today I went to get residency for driving licence. Had a great chat with a German guy, here 3 years just after Covid.
He now has lady brought land built house he’s happy, all on 3 years.
Good luck to him, me I sold my only house on the uk 3 years ago & hope I never buy anywhere again.
@tbjdiamonddog Good if you never buy land or a house again, then you have gotten a good deal.😂
Thank you for removing your hat and sharing your lovely locks/looks with your female viewers 😂 We truly do look forward to your monologues and don't care one iota whether you "got it wrong" in someone else's opinion. Please, just continue being you so that we can enjoy "Turtle Beach" vicariously through you while we keep trekking trying to find ours 😊
The first week in January I will be back in Thailand and at the Village markets. The vendors will greet me warmly after 3 months away like long lost family. The occasional extra piece of fruit or vegetable will get slipped into the plastic bag with a furtive smile. The village police will salute me. I will be happy to be home.
LFG! Krub
Yup Steve, nice 1
I watched that woman's video and I was SHOCKED
Hello Steve, what's Nu with you? Dave's not the only one that hates you. Because of you I feel obligated to pray for Dorothy every night.Yeah, you old fart, I bought your book (the cheaper one). I have Thai wife and spent many days in the land of yims.
I'm 81, Vietnam war vet, been divorced, been shot and have many adventures in over 24 countries. You are a great story teller and I've been subscribed since early on. Glad you have found your Turtle Beach. I found mine as well, and it may be the Buddhist influence in me, but one's "Turtle Beach" is not dependent on geographical location, but on the peacefulness of the mind. But I know you know that - I think. Closing this out. I have to go pray for Dorothy.
That's a very good comment. Turtle Beach is a state of mind.
Quite
The "Dorothy" refers not to the old Dorothy with the dog, but to the truck rollover Dorothy in "the container" just to be clear.
That’s exactly what he said, your turtle beach can be anywhere
Classic Steve. Blunt, to the point, brutal but always honest
Man of his word.
And if may add…. Humorous…. I t just makes your day …
Thumbs up 👍 Steve
You got a good positive mention on the latest Thairish Times episode, by English expat Paul Wallace. 👍
👍👍1988 was the first year I visited Phuket. No airport, only by bus across the bridge.
Steve I love listening to you because you are real and sincere, stay true to yourself, I’m a New Zealander but live in the states, and love visit Thailand 2-3 times a year, fyi thanks for your honest opinion about Thailand the dos and don’t, ha 🙏 kevin.
Hey Steve , I will never stop loving you ! 😊
Hey Steve, I enjoy your posts and look forward to the next installment of Boontongs. As a "grotty yotty"who participated in the 1991 Kings Cup I find your appraisal of the event entirely accurate. Being an aussie bum who hitchhiked his way around the world surfing and sailing, my mates and I would proudly sell our thongs (flip flops) for a beer. We ran sly grog from south to north, took lovely female backpackers on charters aboard a boat we didn't own ,and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves in the bars of Patong accompanied by a menagerie of wildlife ,as was the norm in those years. A particular highlight was watching young boys firing huge skyrockets horizontally down Bangla Rd from the beach on New Years Eve. Dangerous I know but who were we to stop them . Ah the memories . I managed to stretch my stay out to 2 months and then off to Sri Lanka.
I returned in 2015 to see the inevitable changes to the island but nothing stays the same , nor should it.
I like your Turtle Beach
What you are saying Steve is YOU ARE HUMAN. I'm proud to live in Nakhon Nowhere. 555.
Always enjoy watching your videos and listening to your interesting stories! 🙏🏽😉
Remember Steve,
Everyone makes mistakes,
That’s why they put rubbers on pencils ✏️ 😂
And put rubbers on people 😄
Is that a euphemism?
@@steveaustin1984 But the rubbers on the wrong end. ✏️
I didn't know that British English speakers call erasers "rubbers"! In American English, the word rubber is a euphemism for condom.@@Wilko11
Hi Steve from sunshine coast AUSTRALIA I love ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK CHEERS FROM AUSTRALIA 🍻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🇦🇺😎🐢🐢
Bummer Steve. I was half hoping I might be the Dave in question.
Early '90's Phuket yachties moored Nai Harn in Na Yen and Chalong Bay in Na Fon (Jmmy's Lighthouse)
As one of those (many Im sure) female fans - thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.
People need to stop taking everything so personal especially farangs in Thailand. Sabai sabai. Thank you.
"Nakon Nowhere". Thats good one!
Being one of the two women...I say "Thank you for taking off your bucket hat" ❤💋
You've earned it, Dorothy. Maybe next week I'll treat you to one of my boyish grins.
3 now 😂❤
When the green stuff gets restricted, I think there will be allot more room here in Thailand.
Chang Beer and Hang Thong Rum don't attract people the same way.
The green stuff will continue to be available as the river of money must continue to flow. Remember protitution is illegal in Thailand
@@rossshying1939 *Thai Beverage PCL* :Hong Thong/Chang/ext stocks dropped 30% just after the green was legalized which is(was) the most stable investment in S/E Asia "until then". The Asian rich/retired or want ro retire, want their money back, which means they need Thai Beverage PCL stock to rise again, as that "is" the Asian big money. All the green stuff money/businessmen( who are foreigners empowered Thai) are "new intoxicant players" and not Gov or in the government in any significant numbers.
Hey Steve. Yes, Kings Regatta still exist. The King and Queen was here in Phuket yesterday. Keep the conversations coming, I'm a keen listener.😁
Steve. Love your work. Very enjoyable. Thanks
have a great weekend, Steve! I'll find my Turtle Beach there somewhere, I am confident:)
The very best book I've ever read, on the subject of philosophical advice, was, "If You Meet the Buddha on the Road, Kill Him!," by Sheldon Kopp, a Jewish headshrinker. The book's main message is, "The most important things that each man must learn no one can teach him."
the "QED" was a nice touch
Yes Steve, you're an aquired taste...
But I enjoy your take on Thailand and life...
It helps me not take my life so seriously ;-)...
Thanks to Tim Newton that I found you Steve, grumpy old men

A good referencing the contrast between the yachtsman and the sea gypsies. I visited the Maryknolll missionary for the sea gypsies before the tsunami and learns the plight of a lot of the crew, traffic, enslaved and sometimes they don't come back from the fishing trip.
Contrast
just don't give a shit what other people think mate i love what you are about.
Good to see us Aussie FIFO miners spreading merchandise and getting Twiggy’s FMG free publicity on the RUclips. Another good rant, keep it rollin
Steve does it Steve’s way 😂
Brilliant 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Always a great show. Just saw today's Grumpy Old Men. Got my attention when you mentioned BC. Ran into him at hotels in Rio and Bangkok (chance meetings) but didn't know the 'author' part at the time.
Who's "BC?"
@@steverosse the person that got you (and him) in trouble with Thai authorities for your article commenting on his guide for single male travelers, decades ago.
@@40yearexpat Oh! Of course. Sorry, brain fart.
Dear Khun Steve.
I do not know when the honeymoon period will end?
All I can say is, I hope that I keep coming back to you for entertainment, as I admire you - even if sometimes "you rub me the wrong way".
But I like that ocassional provocation - as I find that it allows me to look in the mirror and re-evaluate myself and if it takes Khun Steve Rosse to do that - then I say, "thank you". 😘
Beware of clickbait titles! I opened 'Big Jugs' only to see a program on porcelain pottery!
Never mind looking for authenticity in Thailand… Steve you really are authentic! I admire your honesty and even your cussedness! Good on you… your videos about this wonderful country are the best!! Please don’t stop!!
Hi Steve
Shout out from Sakhonakhon Province
At my turtle beach on a nice small farm. Trying to enjoy the nice quiet days and evenings here. Just waiting to get kicked out some day 😅 lol
Starting to see some color in the shore break… turquoise ish… great peaceful setting… Thanks for a good start to Friday morning…
Enjoy your vlogs Steve take care namaste 😊
hello Steve
In one of your episodes, you mentioned the Pearl Hotel and it brought back a bunch of memories. I spent a lot of time in Phuket in the late eighties and early nineties and the Pearl with the bowling alley was one of my favorites. I need to go to the Similan Natl. Park office
on the 14th and if you have time i would like to take you to lunch and talk, about those days
that seem so long ago.
take care and hope to hear from you
I'm basically home all day every day. Drop in. I'll make coffee.
The Regatta was in Kata beach yesterday
Andrew and Debbie in the south of France like Steve, Steve ❤ (for the moment 😮) 😂🎉 +1.
I'm in a position where anywhere is my turtle beach :)
Hilarious story Steve, keep it up 👍
Steve Got It Right: I wanted to extend a quick thanks for the "Very Thai" recommendation. I recently bought two copies; one for me, and one to mail back to family in the US. I generally try not to buy paper books anymore (prefer ebooks), but that one is well worth the bookshelf space.
Your clickbait worked. Was relieved to find out it was not me. I have lived in LOS for 20 years plus [ stopped counting]. Agree with your comments re Vbloggers. It is the mundane header that grabs my attention and I have found a couple of interesting and genuine people to follow, of which yours is one, TNT is not, he hates me. Count me as a fan.
"Gifted". My skin crawls at the verbification.
Mirriam Webster says "gift" has been a verb for at least 400 years.
This is true but, up until recently, it has existed almost exclusively in the legal domain as terminology in a Last Will. Merriam-Webster blames a single Seinfeld episode for its resurgence.
@@James-MV Seinfeld made it a fad, Steve Rosse made it a movement.
Hey Steve, this Dave still loves you... Well maybe not quite love, but I don't hate you 😮! Namaste, Dave 😊
Just arrived in Bangkok on Monday. Tuesday caught covid and still in bed.
Sorry to hear..... Did you have the newest vaccine? Just curious
@shuttlemanjack I had three vaccines before but not the latest I saw on the internet that oncologist are asking to go slow on the vaccines as there has been a sharp increase in Cancer cases. I also taked with my doctor and he said he is not pushing it.
Thank you for what you do
Tim, I found my Thai Muang , added a high-fibre diet and the Ray Conniff singers on Spotify.
You know this is my channel, right? Tim's not here.
@@steverosse Sorry Steve, Senior moment, I was grooving out to Lara's theme with Ray again.😆
The King's Regatta is on now. Saw photos of the king and queen there yesterday.
I'll be damned. You're right. Thanks for the heads-up.
Admire your honesty, Steve. Have you listened to Ajahn Jayasaro? What do you think?
Hi Mate - first time I have seen you sans spectacles. Nice Show my friend. An engaging monologue.
Looks 💯% better than Pattaya or Patong area of Phuket. Forget chasing costly loose tail to try to get a feeling of self worth.1st time in Thailand 35 years ago went to Pattaya and thought there's gotta be something better, so hired a car and went to Koh Chang, back then it was just a quiet paradise after all the temptations & noise of Pattaya. My friends who go there don't understand why I'm not a big fan of the place. Also found Phuket & Koh Samui to be much better 35 years ago. That's progress.👍
I definitely understand what you have done and where you are at in life right now. I think you got to live in Thailand for a while to get what you are talking about. You have found your itch and you are definitely scratching it. 😀😂😎👍
Outstanding
In Phuket '“The Truth Shall Make Ye Fret".
First off, I know little to nothing about Buddhism. But, if memory serves me correctly, all of the vlogs I have seen posted of house blessings, the people are walking counter-clockwise around the house. So the clockwise vs counter-clockwise has me totally confused. Then again, I'm easily confused. Love you, man.
Love your patter Grey Guru on Turtle Beach. Also read many of your entertaining stories for StickmanBangkok too. Have you ever thought what you would do next if your paradise ever went to rat shit, is there a Plan B ?
Why would you expect Thai Mueang to go to shit?
Such a wise man….
Hi Steve, i just visited Pattaya and Cambodia for the first time over the last few weeks , wow what a wild place Pattaya is , I know what your saying the single old expat thing , I’ve lived in Phuket and visited soi cowboy ect but yeah Pattaya is on another level but like Matty i have a good friend who has lived there for 22 years apart from 4 weeks a year over Xmas and new years he goes to somewhere quieter … congrats on the cigarettes I’m jealous lol 👍
The regatta is alive and well. King and Queen attended, traffic anywhere near Kata must of been 'challenging'.

Hi Steve sorry about my patrion donation being refunded the bank thought it was fraud .Will get it to you when I return to Thai Meuang soon cheers. 😊
It was Jimmy Pearson @ Latitude 8. No?
Ah, Jimmy's Lighthouse. Yeah. That guy.
Hi Steve love you channel and find my self tuning in often .. you always make me laugh and shake my head with disbelief of the craziness of you life stories.
I’m sure this has been covered, and sorry to ask but could you tell us fan boys were we can download your song? Keep enjoying life and feeding us envious fish your life stories.
As it says in the end credits, "Whatever" is by Trevor Fisher and the Special Ones. If you put that name in the search bar, YT will take you right to it.
is that what the call an abrasive personality? 😉 Brilliant stories... I wouldn't be angry when made fun of... especially if there is some truth in the points the story makes
As always you cracking me up 😅😅😅
McDonald's in Phuket...Makes perfect sense for a well know Phrench Phry with a real Mexican Cola (The one with sugar cane and not Corn Syrup). Your hamburgers may vary! LOL!
FYI….the last King was the only Monarch in history anywhere worldwide to have won an Olympic gold medal, ever…..
Steve, you haven't offended me yet. So I have that to look forward to 😊
Don’t let some twit that has read that walking around in the “wrong”direction means you can’t be meditating stop you from approaching the subject. There’ll always be someone who knows more… but can they see through the bs
Pattaya is turtle beach for now 555
Hahahaha how did u know I was chilling on the lounge at my turtle beach 🤙🏽
All of us “see the world as we see it” it’s good to see it from someone else’s perspective and perhaps be more tolerant of other peoples views. 😊🙏
I’m sure the King and Queen’s attendance at this year’s King’s cup is irony not lost on you. 😂
Good video today. Enjoy your day.

My turtle beach has a high tide
Can’t believe you missed the call on McDonalds. But then I’m the guy who said no one is gonna buy these cell phones when phone booths are on every corner ! We may not possess great wealth but at 66 years old I understand that a great attitude is far more valuable.
lovely but we need a Boontongs update.....
Yeah... probably not going to happen. They're just so... much... work. And they get zero audience. But I'm glad you liked them...
Ohhhhhhh bummer my thinking was seeing the complexity of the last set that that might be the last one. Carry on then!! I'm glad everything's settled back post-surgery 😁😎
Oh dear when fans become fanatics after they find that their idol has feet of clay
Yep Steve my turtle beach is ban nonwai no close to a beach
Well, that was interesting....lol....Good job!
What is PFTB (after the title)?
Postcards From Turtle Beach.
Hilarious foot shot
I love and respect you so much! However I had a son living in pattaya for a year and loved it! But he didn’t take part of the night life. He just enjoyed the people. He’s in Bangkok now for his masters degree and, because I’ve watched grumpy old men since it started, he wants me to move there. So everyone in pattaya isn’t bad
Ironic hat as Fortescue is an Australian mining company.
I'm not seeing the irony...
Well not the hat per se but the location and timing… you were discussing the tin mine during the opening while wearing the hat.
Actually now I think of it, it may be ironic given they mine iron (ore).
Sorry 😅😊
@@sirsillybilly Oh, okay, I get it now. Duh, Steve. It is ironic.
Let it go comes to mind ....lol keep rolling Steve
Anyone who seeks philosophical guidance from RUclips videos deserves to be misled.
I don't hate you, I just disagreed with something you said. And yes, I still have that Cuttlefish. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks for the mention though.
Well, calling somebody a misogynist is pretty rough. But I'm glad we can laugh about it.
🙏🙃🧡
I’m flattered when you yell at me! Lol At least you took the time to consider my posts or comments. If I disagree I’ll tell you but it won’t change my opinion of you. That’s childish.
Great Steve. Gotta love the
somewhat sinister, simper,
titters 'tween the, " How Steve makes friends", paragraph rereads!
It's not often that i laugh out loud at RUclips's but your Cheshire interim grins felt kindred, as in the couple of decades here, our band has played the regatta hooplas, We've been privy to the perks you portrayed so well I could smell the pate.
I would humbly float the idea of your reading some of your past paragraphs in each episode and they also lure us to perhaps go deeper into your literary catalog.
Just saying bro and thanks
LOL Love your talks Steve....When I brought a Thai girlfriend to Australia I thought I had found my one and only.....Until she realised I did in fact not own the company I worked for...I was a working man...Not sure how she thought that but she remained a surly bitch until I took her to the airport to my great relief after 3 months....I did realise I had dodged a bullet.I gave her $1000 at the airport and she said...NOT ENOUGH.....Last I heard some years ago she scammed some Swedish guy and now lives in that frozen world.
Having differences of opinion is what makes life interesting. Pattaya is to be enjoyed in small dosis just like you go your 3 days per month to Phuket / Bangla. It's comparable to food, healthy is great but every now and then you want a quick, unhealthy, full of sugar, fat and additives snack. :-)
Amen, Brother.
