- Siddharth and Shalaka are a newly married couple living in a joint family, in a small traditional living quarter which is part of a larger structure called a chawl. The cramped house doesn’t give any privacy to anyone but over time people learn to deal with it. Everyone knows. Everyone can hear. A quest to find intimacy amongst the multitude becomes insurmountable.Is this crowded city able to give up space for that embrace? A short film about finding your corner where every emotion is in your face and yet…. you are anonymous!!

@Subash Kumar the most important thing or any guys parent is to match the economic status with that of girl, if the change for a girl after marriage is equal or the change it for betterment then any girl can adjust. if the change is for downgrade on the name of compromise then its not right for the girl. These days girls have earned name, fame and income which guys havent. Thats where the problem arises from.

But once they are Married, their wants increase & start harassing the poor husband for a bigger place

That's your viewpoint. Others want to move on with their lives, and not put it on hold just because of space constraints. Life goes on. Marriage, kids, life in general shouldn't wait for the perfect job, perfect salary, perfect type of space/house etc. As long as people are financially and emotionally in a position to support a spouse, I don't see why they shouldn't get married and enjoy its perks! By your logic, a large chunk of Mumbaikars will have to remain single for indefinite periods!

A joint family live in a small apartment. They have shared love for one another. Basically, this story is a reality for the middle class in South Asia, where parents have been living with their future generation since many Centuries. That is why old nursing home is not popular in Indian subcontinent, even we do not let our parents die alone. And this documentary is praiseworthy. It represents not only love, but also culture. Love and kisses to you all.

I've never been to Mumbai but heard about small houses and more people staying, but after watching this, i realized....But have to say, love and understanding between entire family was good and the climax scene was awesome.... After watching this, i am glad that i stay in Bangalore
Superb theme and well executed!!! One thing which struck me along with the main theme of this story is the family bond shown beautifully in today's world of nuclear family especially in the scene where he asks his elder brother for bike!!!!
Such a beautiful way to depict that privacy and intamcy are different things and love is a word way beyond these things.

Very talented (& unassuming) crew and cast. A joy to watch such talent who value craftsmanship. Stellar in more ways than one. Definitely a textbook example on shorts film-making from many facets. Gotta keep track of the crew because I would love to watch some of their subsequent projects.

This space is the most common problem in city like Mumbai. One has to adjust to it otherwise you have to wait for whole life but you can't afford bigger place. People from small town or village find it very difficult to adjust. Very nice movie showing the way to live in city like Mumbai. This is the story of movie Piya ka ghar starring Jaya Bhaduri and Anil Dhawan in late 197os

There was a movie based on the same premise, Piya Ka Ghar, from 1972, with Jaya Bacchan and Anil Dhawan. It's both sad to realize that so many years down the line, the same problem is an everyday reality for many people of Mumbai and how mainstream Indian media completely glosses over such issues.
With population the problem will ofcourse increase

This pain can only be felt, if you have ever lived at Mumbai.
I have seen how families struggle to live in such small rooms which they call a home.
I live in Mumbai right now with my brother in a 1RK apartment. It's ok for two of us but in my neighborhood there is a family with 5 members living in the same area. I can't imagine living like this.
Sad reality of Mumbai. Those who are rich can afford 2BHK , 3BHK but for common people, they survive like this.
