Is there any point to use Hik-connect if you are not opening ports on your router? I just use a vpn to access my lan remotely. I can't find an explanation of how hik-connect actually works.
Hik connect doesn't require any ports to be open. Effectively the recording unit or camera gets added to a password protected account, which in turn is what streams the video. When you login to this account your device talks to the Hik connect account reporting its current IP to the Hik connect portal the port forwarding isn't required as it'll use UPNP within your router to allow access.
@@miecctv Thanks for the response. I have UPNP turned off for security purposes since it is automatic port forwarding. I just want event notifications to my phone on my LAN.
If you just want event notifications on the internal network, you can add the DVR using its internal IP. Should be something like 192.168.1.xx then there is no need for port forwarding.
Have you enabled notifications on the app, you will need to go into the alarm section, and then select set alarm notification and then put a tick next to your DVR

Hi! I have 2 DVRs and 2 Hilook IPC-C220 cube cameras connected and online. I can see live streams on all cameras on the Hilook App for iphone and I have access to remote configuration to both the DVRs on my laptop from any network, however, I am not able to access remote configuration to the IPC-C220 cameras on ivms-4200 on pc or mac. Also, I am not able to access the saved memory on the Microsd cards in these IP cameras on the app. It just says No Records Found. The recording and captures are both configured for continuous recording. How to I grant access to remotely configure these IP cams from IVMS-4200 (like I have on the DVRs) and how do I enable accessing the device memory?
login failed. Error Code libHCNetSDK.dylib[10] this is the error i get. Could someone please help? i can see live streaming but not access any of the saved footage from the hilook app
You can either login using the same credentials on the other phone, or register an account on the other phone and then share the NVR with that user from the main account.
Once I scanned the qrcode or entered the serial number, I get a message saying 'contact the device owner to approve the application '. Well I am the device owner. Can anyone advise what I should do here ?
Usually this happens if the device has been previously registered to a different email or if the device is second hand to a previous owner. Does it display any info regarding the "owner"

@@miecctv ok but how to watch it remotely on separate PC. I dont want to use a phone. I am in my second appatment that is in other city...but I want to watch my cameras on other house. All of this works fine on my mobile phone here in Egypt.. as long as I'm using my own WIFI on my own router where the DVR is connected... If I'm at my friends house and I'm connected to the internet via his router, then it doesn't work... It seems I have to get into my router and open ports and all that.. and the service provider here won't give me the password to my router :(
Using Hik connect shouldn't require any ports to be open within the router. Are you scanning the barcode to add the unit to a Hik connect account? Or have you added the device by searching for online devices. If the latter it will not work and you need to scan the barcode as explained in this video. Hope that helps.
I guess that explains it.. the scan doesn't seem to want to work.. I keep getting the message "No Scan".. so I had to do it by "Online Device" and entering the serial number.. I don't get that pencil thing you show here :) Thanks for your help.
I got it to work with HiLook not the IVMS4500 app... I have another question, can you access the same DVR from more than one mobile phone? Like can my wife and daughter download the app and link their phones to the same DVR by each registering her own account and scanning the same QR code thing... or does it only work with just one phone? Thank you.
You can either download the app and login with the same account which will show the device or alternatively share the device from your app to their login.
Wow, just wow! The moment you've reached the password part, you've lost me. I have Hikvision v4.0 NVR and also Hik-Connect installed in my Android mobile. This garbage App is so difficult to set for remote viewing, it drives me crazy. It's extremely confusing. If you install and then set the App for remote viewing, why are there many back and forths with email, password, then QR scan and then you have to add a password, and what password would it be? Would it be the Verification/Encrypt... code as password or do I have to make a new password?
Fundamentally it's easier if you look at it on 2 parts. Step one register an account with hik connect. So setup with and email or phone number and create an account with a password of your choosing. Once the account is created you can then add the device to that account. Once you scan the QR code it should add automatically the only thing you may need to enter is the verification code or sometime called encryption key. This is visible on the DVR where you scan the QR code. Hope that helps.
@@miecctv Thanks for responding. Yes, I have registered it with Hik and once I did, that's when I started having problems after problems, and then I uninstalled and reinstalled the App because it didn't allow me to go back to start again. That was the only option based on my experience. So, after reinstalling the App, I am now at the page that has a blue band that says, 'Not registered or logged in...' and, on the right of the blue band it says, 'Add...'. Below that there is a black box that has a broken chain link and the words, 'Offline'. So, I clicked on 'Add' on the blue band, as it doesn't explain enough to set up the App. Here is what I don't know, on the next page. In the next page, there are fields to fill. The first field to fill is 'Adding Type'. In 'Adding type', there is IP/Domain and Hik-Connect Domain. Which one should I use, IP/Domain or Hik-Connect Domain? Next one is 'Alias'. There is 'New Device 02'. Do I leave it as is, or change it to a name? Next, Below that, there is 'Address...'. It doesn't say or show/tell which address it is, the IP address or email address. Which? Next, 'Port', it says 8000, but is it 8000 or? Next down it says 'User Name'. I don't see any username on the NVR GUI. Do I have to make a new user name, or just leave it? Further down is 'Device Password'. Which password would that be and which device is it? Fancy not telling that, as device can be anything. Is the mobile the device these Chinese are talking about or is it a tablet, notebook, or computer? So, what password is it then? Is it the same as the Verification Code/Encryption Key in the NVR GUI 'System' icon (blue when selected), then go to Network/Advanced/Platform Access/Verification Code/Encryption Key field? E.G. Mikey1234ABCD, or do I have to make another password? And, lastly, 'Camera' which has 1. This is not relevant, as it has 1 camera operating. This is the page I need to know if I need to make changes first. And then, I will be going back to the page that has a black box with the broker chain link and word... 'Offline' and click on the red elongated button with the words, 'Login/Register' and click on it to open another page that requires a mobile phone number and password (again another password). In the Mobile phone field, I typed my mobile number, 0000 000 000 and then... Below it I have to write a password again, making it more complicated because I have no idea whether I should write the same password as that of the Verification Code/Encryption Key, or what other password it is and where do I find it. See what l mean when I said too complicated? There are other problems with this App. When an event is triggered, it takes ages to get a notification, up to 10 or 15 minutes later. What's the use having an App when it takes so long to get a notification, even when my mobile is a few feet or right next to the NVR and Modem? I hear the NVR beeping and then wait for the mobile notification to arrive, I'd be very lucky if it is within 5 seconds after the NVR beeped. People say Hikvision is the best. I say, it's not, as I have other systems, including a Concord and Reolink video alarm systems. The Concord 8 channel 1080p was cheaper and it boasted feature that, if any of the 8 cameras were triggered by an event, the system will immediately switch to that camera on monitor screen with a pleasant beep. If another camera is triggered by another event, the system will immediately show that even with a beep. In other words, it kept repeating each time something triggered any cameras. Fact is that, Hikvision is so expensive, it doesn't have such auto-switchable features. I also have a Dahua 4K, 8 Chan NVR with 4 cameras. I made a mistake buying this because it is worse than Hikvision. However, the Dahua App seems to respond real quick with mobile notifications, but the system itself lacks the playback bell that Hikvision has on the top right of the screen that comes on with numbers that shows how many times an event had occurred. Dahua just sends out this large black window to warn of an event occurred then becomes blank and the window just sits there (blocking the Live view), with no way of disappearing, unless you right-click on the screen. There is no instant access to playback. You have to right-click to get a pop-up list, then click on Search and then... you'd be lucky if you find the time on the green bars of the events that have occurred during the day or night. It is certainly a rubbish system when compared to the cheaper Concord and or Reolink. The (if you want me to go on), there is this fluctuations of the video, live or recorded. In both, the Live video floats, freezes and zips ahead, objects appears ahead, sometimes images are blurry, other times it stutters or have already passed through half the screen, etc., and the flow of the images (such as cars, people, etc.), are not smooth like a personal video camera like Sony Handicam as an example, instead the images appear to flow in a jerky, framed (stuttered) fashion that makes it hard to recognize it, or see it as clear as if the video was taken by a 4K Handicam. And because of this stuttering, the image also appears like it is ghosting with faded edges. Like the expensive Hikvision, both are supposed to be 4K resolution and 30 fps which is a crystal clear television video resolution, you'd be lucky if you get 4K and 30 fps. Maybe 1080p yes, but 4K? LOL. So, let's start this far to see if I can set Hik-Connect the right way, and then I will scan the QR Code later. But, trust me, it will not connect.
i have already installed hik on my mobile phone. the problem is it says enter password. the video is encrypted. contact your administrator for password
This is the encryption password that would have been set when enabling Hik Connect. You can view this by going into the platform access menu on the DVR and checking what the encryption key is. Alternatively from the same menu you could untick "enable stream encryption" and then it will no longer ask you for the password.
I tried this and I can view live feed remotely, which is nice. But how to browse recorded video from past events? I can access it directly from DVR or computer connected to the same network but not from the hikvision app.
The recording unit will be linked with the original account and will need to be unbound from this account to be able to be linked with a new account (on your wife's phone). You don't need the original phone just need to know the login information from when you originally set it up, which will either be a phone number or your email address and a password you setup. If you have these you can simply login with that information on your wife's phone and it will work.
@@miecctv Thanks for all your help . Me been a thick mayo man All sounds a bit double Dutch To me it was easy at first I scanned the QR code and working . If only I went to school 😅 thanks again for you time

But, trust me, it will not connect.
i have already installed hik on my mobile phone.
the problem is it says
enter password. the video is encrypted. contact your administrator for password
Did you ever figure out this problem? I can view when connected to the same Wifi but once I leave, I cant

Hello. Why I can't view my CCTV in my cellfone? It says failed to stop playing
I can see mine in LAN but not in WAN
Hi how do I add my wife phone also
You can either share the device to another account on your wife's phone or simply login on her phone using your login credentials. Hope that helps
Thanks friend i don't have my phone any more broken it .
When I try the steps like the first phone it's not working any help please
The recording unit will be linked with the original account and will need to be unbound from this account to be able to be linked with a new account (on your wife's phone). You don't need the original phone just need to know the login information from when you originally set it up, which will either be a phone number or your email address and a password you setup. If you have these you can simply login with that information on your wife's phone and it will work.

All sounds a bit double Dutch
To me it was easy at first I scanned the QR code and working . If only I went to school 😅 thanks again for you time
Saya sudah coba sesuai tutorialnya, sudah format memorynya..tp kenapa masih gak bisa nyimpan video ya..
how do you do this with mobile data?...it only works on mobilefone connected to same network
If you have followed this guide and used the barcode method it will work outside of your network. One thing to check would be in your network settings make sure that you have the DNS servers specified. The primary should be 8.8.8.8 and the secondary should be the same as your routers IP address. Hope that helps.
Hi i have done this and it still does not work am i only allowed to view on wifi and not on LTE or data
Have you checked the DNS servers as specified above and when you go to the screen with the barcode does the status say online or offline?
@@miecctv it tells me online
That should work on mobile data if it is showing online. What error message do you get when it doesn't connect?
