While I love SJB and this show, I can see why this song was cut. While it's an incredible moment of character development the orchestrations are just clunky and it sounds odd as a ballad with these arrangements. Also the number just stops the show a bit.

You know what I really believe,,, If Cher perceived this song as a Ballad.. SHE would have recorded it as a Ballad. Nope.... doesn't work with dramatization and slow (over-wrought tempo). This song IS and should be the anthem of woman power that made it a hit. THAT moment when it is recognized the thing is over and well over.. demands the fast paced/declaration/ conviction of it is a real thing ......I am out of that relationship and away (far away) from the toxic and I hereby declare .. "I do believe in Love."
This was pre broadway. The show was very choppy and thrown together in parts. The broadway version is way better and ‘blocky’ won a tony for this role so stfu and stop leaving hate on this total goddess warriors marvellous performance
can't watch this without tearing up. her performace really demonstrates and conveys the emotions cher must have been feeling. powerful scene
