Unfinished World / Unfinished Life says it all. I first met Gavin helping to raise funds for Broadway Impact, his marriage equality organization in 2009. I had the great good fortune to see many of his shows and concerts over the 15 years since, and shared hugs as well as e-mails and texts with him. I loved him and miss him every day. As his bff Andrew Rannells shared recently: everyone who got to know Gavin loved him. Someone else also shared that Gavin was not only one of the best, he was the best one. Rest In Peace Gavin, you are missed and loved by so many.
I had the honor of getting to see Gavin perform live a handful of times, and of course he blew me away every single time. So much sincerity and talent in every performance. He always gave it his all. I never got the opportunity to connect with him personally, which I will always regret, but I'm still thankful his existence inspired me in so many ways. He was a constant inspiration in my journey as both an artist and person. And ever since his passing, I've found myself rereading all of the beautiful stories his family/friends have shared and I'm feeling more inspired than ever by him. May his beautiful spirit inspire many, so that he can keep living in a hundred other ways with us all. 💞
"Unfinished World" was performed at Gavin's Memorial in New York on December 2, 2024. 10,000 persons in the US and UK were there in person or via livestream to celebrate Gavin's beautiful talent and soul.
