MP i3 uses an open material system, which means you are not limited in your choice of materials. Filament is supplied on open spools and not in proprietary cartridges or spools marked with NFC tags which generally cost 3 or 4 times that of standard materials.
All you have to do is perform a quick check to verify that the print bed is still leveled, in case it shifted during shipping, then load the included MicroSD card, load some filament, and start printing the preloaded model.
Nowhere else will you find a 3D printer ready to print out of the box at such a low price.

Over the past few days I’ve gone crazy about 3D printers
Same..
Same

My first (and still only) 3D printer was from Monoprice. It was a Monoprice 3D Mini (v1), first ready to run printer under $200 (I think) at the time. Someone had given me a Visa gift card, so I got the printer for something under $160 our of pocket. That little printer has been rock solid. There have been times I wanted a larger print bed, but it fits perfect on my desk. A larger printer would probably have to go to the garage or downstairs, and I probably wouldn't use it as much. So I keep sticking with the Mini. If I were buying today, I would probably go for something like the Ender 3. But I've had great fun so far. Glad to see you video progression with 3D printers. ;-)
The ''ink" for a 3d printer is cheaper than the ink for normal 2d printers
Those printer ink company is ripping us off
Right 😂🤣😂
It’s like $40 for a damn cartridge of HP black ink, but only $20 for a kilo of black filament.
Screw that, in 3D printing my documents 😂😂😂
ikr how funny is that
I haven’t had an ink printer in like 10 years .....
10ml of ink vs 1Kg of filament... *Time to 3D photocopy me this document!!!* On a side... #PostScriptEnabled3DPrintersWhen? I got me a PDF of me intentionelly scanning a middle finger badly that I wanna get immortalized in 3D because it looks funny as shit.
Hey man, I know this is an old video and you probably know a lot more, but I appreciate how you’re humble and don’t pretend to know everything and give people incorrect info
You are the most relaxing narrator, thank you for this video
He oughta be, he lives in paradise. YES, very envious! ; )
its funny watching this from 3 years ago when he didnt know anything and hes the one I learned to put my ender together from.
%90 of your thoughts are right I have Monoprice Select Mini for a year and half it works nice
What he said wrong?
There’s got to be something wrong with it. For that price.
TheGalacticWest there’s a sale, it is usually 250
i love watching his videos. his voice is so soothing and i love it when he gets excited and happy
For not knowing anything about 3D printing, you could’ve fooled me. I’m an experienced user of 3D printers and you did great! I’m impressed with what I see here and am coveting one myself now, thanks for sharing!
Welcome to the wonderful world of 3d printing. Not a bad printer for the price point. I have 6 machines 2 MonoPrice mini's a V1 and V2 both with heated beds. Without a heated bed your gonna have to print a lot of things with rafts. I really like the new options in your firmware though. I would suggest your next printed be the Ender3. In my opinion it's the best printer out there for money. Good luck my friend.
I've been following 3d printing for the last few years and I will be joining you this Christmas hopefully. The printer I've chosen is the Ender3!
@darthkairu Same this Christmas um going to get the ender 3

I thought the video was painful to watch. It's amazing that someone would spend that kind of money and be completely ignorant of what he was buying.
MP i3 Mini Update Video: ruclips.net/video/Uep7rUd9YB8/видео.html
clearly your first printer
Just so you know, you came out better than I did. I paid $480 CAD for a vertex Nano, which is a smaller printer at 80mm x 80mm print surface.
Regarding you comment 17 minutes in, it is good to wait if you can to separate rafts. If you separate the rafts right away, you risk deforming the model because the PLA will still be warm.
By the way, 1kg is 2.2lb, but the majority of your work will be done in metric.
Wow so this was your first printer. I watched one of your vids on the Ender 3 earlier and then i saw this.
I would advice don’t lift the printer from the moving hot plate “ bed “ or the top part.
Vlad loves his quick settings
"So here's the manual, pretty nice."
And then he never looks at it again...
No wonder you have no idea what's what. I wonder where could you figure it out?
Yeah I don't think this device is for this guy...maybe someone get this guy a slinky to start off with..work his way on up
Good video because it does not have the obnoxious background music/noise.
The video also has a good subject and good content.

Don't expect your threads to hold up. You might try to hollow thru the center and glue an plug thru the hole which would strengthen the layer weakness, but the detail looks good. Have fun, finding the best filament (keep records), how to make parts stick will always be a challenge.
Just use glue stick or hairspray. Can we washed with water. The end.
Take a shot every time he says "Whacked off"
This guy is obviously a genius. I'm getting one of these printers just because of his video.
Managed to find a select mini v2 for £65 the other day, think it blows this out of the water even though the i3 mini isn't available in the UK. still a very nice printer for a newcomer, my first printer was the TRONXY X1 kit and as much as I loved putting it together I can't deny the appeal of a ready to use machine like this
Bro, im blown away by the quality of your review. Good work!
DUDE THATS CRAZY!!! I thought 3D printers at $200 were nuts, but this is something else!
Be aware that a $300 printer like a geeetech a20m or a creality ender 3 at under 300 are both much much more capable machines than this. I have the original Monoprice miniselect and this seems to be a variation of it with a simpler LCD but better options for aided bed leveling and filament removal the original one is all manual, in any a heated bed is a big deal even for PLA as it can mean you don't need to use glue stick. Also it is easier to add automatic bed leveling sensors to the geeetech than this machine. You can easily spend alot of money upgrading this machine and not get close to what those do out of the box.
special black friday pricing??? none of them listing is his link are $100 new. $120 USED by someone else. These are $200 printers news.
LOL, this is great! I bought my printer this year, an Annet 160 euro clone that I had to put together myself. Which was fun and a nice accomplishment. The 230 euro monoprice v2 was the one I was gonna buy at first but I was not happy with its print ing dimensions. 100 dollars is a great price for the young tinkerer. I wish they had all this when I was 15!
Now I know what I'm getting for Christmas .... Thank you brother ... This is awesome
I am so happy that you had a good time with this machine, I got the mp select mini v1 and at the time it was around $230. it had so many problems, and i am glad that you are having a good time

That is some incredibly surprising build quality for the price... Might just be buying one. And in looking for them via your links, there are some surprisingly better options indeed. I particularly like the silver variant of the exact same thing, but with a heated and auto leveling bed. And for only $60 more! I'm sold, I didn't realize it got this inexpensive to get into this at this point! Amazing... Even more amazing, Amazon Basics has 3D printing supplies! Super cheap filament and such... NICE

Interesting. It is my first exposure to a 3D printer & how it works. Thanks.

@@ikeeperwet7698 hmmm yes and no.... Like everything you get what you pay for... I think you need to spend like 250 minimum. And even then they all forget the cost of extra stuff. Pla/abs/ new print head etc.. They mostly don't print right out the box.. 🥴
former 3D printing tech here, this printer is pretty decent for $99. good for entry level. also thnks vlad for apologizing off the bat for not knowing what you were doing lol there was some cringe.
@Pennywise The dancing clown If you haven't yet a base model ender 3 is very nice at 170

I like to check the level when the printer is off, so you can quickly check the travel height in all directions, then if needed fine tune when the printer is on, but on the fly auto-leveling printers are becoming game changers
practice makes perfect, to prevent parts from warping on the edges use a brim it will fix your warping issues, congrats on your first printer, its alot of fun.
I’m at the point where I have 2 and soon 3 and they are pretty fun when you know what your doing
I really like your instructional video style the impressive part was showing how it works from the box.
More than anything he showed me how not to do things.
you could take a plastic container and 3d print a spool holder inside that then get some silica gel packets to put inside
then have the fillament go out through a hole...
also silica get packets can be re-dryed in an oven to get it as good as new again
I have a creality cr10s. It's a great printer and it's been perfect for over a year. But, it's about $400. The bed is huge so I can print much larger pieces. Good video. I'm wondering how long the printer lasts though. Sometimes they are fine for a few months but need maintance soon after.

This specific model is not currently available on eBay UK and the later version is about twice the price. It's much the same on Amazon UK, although both offer other models around £100, although usually not preassembled.
Hey! So I just ran across your video and I'm a 3D printer myself have been for the past 3 years now and if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to ask me.
Really nice looking entry level printer. V2 is a fair bit more expensive, though the printing area is increased.
I have been looking at a 3D printer for some time now and have been considering the £90 option, because it's £90, what can go wrong, but after seeing the print quality of this I shall pay a little more. Problem being, I will spend all of my spare time printing figurines for my kids, but then what a great way for them to learn about 3D design and engineering projects.
Honestly go with a $200 ender 3. It’s miles and miles better than one of these super cheap ones. The extra money gets you a much bigger build area and WAY better print quality than these cheap ones.
As a friendly reminder, I would never use the printing boom as a lifting handle. I would also suggest snipping all the strips with a snipper and not slide it off since it can cause wear or displace the wheels on the bed. Also never adjust the level screw so that the springs compresses fully, cause you might bend something. Instead loose the opposite level adjuster upwards, please take a moment to figure out how the level geometry works. Most printer beds usally have all the springs compressed to 30-40% to be level. Once the aluminium plate is bent its useless.. This thing looks really good for 100 bucks but I wonder how long the fans last, many printers use extremely low quality fans that brakes only after 50-100 hours and many have to be soldered out to be replaced. For the comments regarding PETG I think that would be very difficult since it does not have a heated bed. You would have huge problems with poor layer adhesion.. If you make a heated box for the hole printer it might work though. I have to powerful lamps shining heat down onto my already 75 degrees heated print bed (in free air.) That lets me print PETG @ 32mm/s (very slow) at room temperature with good layer adhesion. Printing with PETG takes a lot more knowledge than PLA. I hope this info helps any beginners out there :)
Vlad can run a nuclear plant while sounding confused about it.

You can print bigger than 125 but will have to orient the files diagonally across your build plate. I'm about to upgrade from a first gen MP Select Mini to a Creality Ender 3.
you'll love the ender 3 I have one.
Ender 3 will be a good upgrade. I love it
This is NOT the MP Select Mini that's available in the U.S. That one has a heated bed. This looks like a much better beginner's model (for PLA only), but I can't find any other reference to it in US-visible sites.
They give you an instruction book for a reason!!!
Where are you at in Arkansas?
I only ask because of you screen name.
I am also in Arkansas.
Don't know about the instruction book to this machine but to my 3D printer I got an instruction book that not actually was for the machine I bought, not right menus and some other things was for the manufacturers other machines. So sometimes the instruction book is trash.
Can it print metal filaments? I'm looking for a tool that can create metal pins, without too much work.
X_obert nope solder would probably wreck it
Great review for a great quality product, I'm definitely moved to buying this, thanks!
Really? He said it himself, he doesn't know anything about 3D printers so he wouldn't know what to look for, find a person who has bought at least one other 3D printer and let them wait until they have had it for a month and used it to print more than just the sample prints that are usually designed to be the best possible prints they can make. I mean he didn't even try to print out a benchy boat. Find someone who knows what they are talking about if you want to listen to them.
I have to say: REALLY? Why do you expect so much for a beginners' printer that costs only $100 when it goes on sale, sure there are much better printers but they also cost much more, and for what I need to do, this printer is perfect. I have no use for a benchy boat or others so called arts!
honestly, dude, go for the ender 3 if you want quality and low cost, this thing is cool, but not as useful in making parts and DIY as something like the creality ender 3 or the tevo tarantula.
Looks interesting for a starter printer. I wonder if you can use a RasPi to make it into a wireless pinter how it's often advertised..
Correct me if I’m wrong , having checked the price , 99-100 dollars , that’s for either a used , opened box , or refurbished unit . I don’t remember you stating that in your presentation . Not that it’s a problem , it’s just from your review it appeared to me that you were talking about a new unit.
It was a new unit sold by monoprice through eBay. I guess it was a special in November and about 2,400 units were sold within two weeks. I happen to see it and snatched it up. If they have the sale again and I notice it I'll post a video to make sure every one knows.
Pull that filement out quicker so you dont get the stringing plastic. Might leave some in the tube 👍
Good video, and have fun printing
Thank you! Been looking affordable yet amazing 3d printer. Gonna buy this. Looks very user friendly
I just assembled an ender 3. The assembly process really shouldn't be a deal breaker. If you don't have the common sense to turn a couple screws, I don't see how you can operate it.
Great video. Just right for beginners. Now I going to take a look at eBay. Many thanks. Martin (Dhaka, Bangladesh)
If you are a beginner II would recommend the monoprice mini V2. its only $200. Check out my review why its worth the price :)
The drill bit goes on the extruder head so if u want to do a design on wood
The original 3d printer is the whanhao duplicator 13 mini which is a widely used and rebranded company in japan, IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH CURA OR OTHER SLICER SOFTWARE PICK THE WHANHAO DUPLICATOR I3 MINI, i spent ages making a profile and then i found the original printer lol
Thank you for the tip. At first i couldn't get it to work but then i found some random profile that worked and thats what im still using. Im going to change it to the duplicator i3 right now and try it out. Thanks
Just Vlad, Just make sure you check on the profile that the build plate dimensions are the same unless you want you printer making ugly sounds lol
Oh and when you level I found that the level is best when paper is passed under the nossle which is not loose but not so tight that it rips, you want a medium amount of friction between the bed, if you want to make your prints stick better you can literally just put some craft glue (just the twist stick glue. The stuff used at schools) on the print bed. ,
Oh and If you find that the filament stops and nothing comes out the nossel just cut he end of the filament into a spike so it feeds smoothly into the extruder
Just Vlad oh and one more thing the printer has a magnetic build plate which you can take of and bend off the prints off
Is there an equivalent product available today?
I think moisture is an issue because, when the filament absorbs too much moisture and is then headed, it can cause deformations in the extruded material causing defects in the printed object.
One of the very first comments you make is about the "very nice looking" manual - then spend the rest of the video saying "I guess this goes here, I think this goes like this, I guess....I think.....

love the video! haha the phrase you're trying to say is "out of whack" not "whacked off".
123 autodesk is FREE and you can download it from amazon.com the program is easy to use to design your own inventions or whatever you want to print. I've been printing for about 3 years now and have learned a lot of tricks and tips. Keep your nozzle clean by using a small wire brush on it and wiping off excess black stuff that accumulates from the melted plastic. The glue is good for about 2 to 3 uses and after that you want to clean you bead and use new stick glue probably around 4 coats in different directions. leave your part on the bed until everything cools down and then it should just pop off.

Some issues I ran into with this printer:
My printer's Teflon tube in the heat break/nozzle got damaged and stuck before my first roll of filament was used up...
My printer sometimes randomly crashes in the middle of preheating.
When not homed, I can raise the extruder bar thing up until it hits the top of the printer and makes loud banging sounds.
Once, my printer was homing, but disregarded the Z end stop (making loud banging sounds), pushing the switch down and forcing me to level the bed to a significantly lower (and very tight) level from then on.
Did you use the cura program for the splicing for this printer?
Yes! the profile that you need is under the name "Wanhao Duplicator i3 mini"
