I installed a Canon grip on my 6D Mark 2 mainly because I found a brand new one for $50. I just installed a Vivitar grip on my Canon 80D, and it both looks and functions just like the Canon grip.
The Canon grip for the 90D is almost $300, I bought the Neweer third party grip on Amazon for $50. The quality is almost as good as the Canon, minus a bit of metal in the construction, and it has all the same functions as the Canon, and they all work just fine. And even if it doesn't last as long as the Cannon, you can buy THREE extra ones, and it would STILL cost less than the price of the Canon!
I bought a cheap one for my 5300 so I could film longer but not bothered on my d500 because it is no hardship to change the batteries on the go. It rarely spends much time on a tripod or stand so I didn't feel the need for the grip. If it was my main video camera, definitely would get one.
@@AndresEPerez I get that. nothing I do is time or action critical, and with the decent battery life on the d500 i rarely can kill a battery shooting stills in a day. Video though, I can almost see the electricity leaking onto the floor from the battery.
Canon grip costs $300, aftermarket grip costs $50. If you are worried that the aftermarket won't last as long, then just buy EXTRA ONES! You can literally buy FOUR aftermarket grips, and it would STILL be cheaper than the Name brand grip! I got this aftermarket grip, the quality is good, and all the functions work just fine!

Bill Buchsbaum thank you for sharing! Very helpful!
You didn't say if it works well with the 70D or how the grip feels. Does it feel like the camera? Or does it feel like cheap plastic?

What brand is that grip?

The main reason I got it was for when I’m shooting live events
