We've been to Oatman twice. It's a fun little town to visit. We enjoy feeding the burros. Went to Oatman this past July, and we took Route 66 from the Kingman side. Near the summit, there was a burro blocking the roadway, so we stopped and gave it some corn chips and petted it.

Burros and donkeys can live up to 50 years, and sometimes longer - a local sanctuary had a Death Valley burro named Brownie, she was 47 at the time of her passing.

BEWARE of the burros if you have a dog with you! They are friendly but while we were walking up the street the woman in front of us had a dog and a burro attacked towards the dog but the woman got in front of her and was bitten quite severely.
For people who have never had burros with their sheep and cattle to protect them from coyotes.....to a burro every dog is a coyote.

Canine is canine. I guess that’s how the donkeys see it

We have wild donkeys here in Moreno Valley California upon box spring mountain Off of the 60 Highway pigeon Pass Road They stand in my yard eat the grass and shrubs I’m always chasing them away and they always come back😂 and they let you pet them as long as they don’t have any babies around and it’s pretty cool👍

DON'T GO! I'd give this place zero stars if I could.
Oatman is full of bigots and racists. Absolutely horrible backwater little nothing place in the middle of nowhere. The trip started out great but quickly went downhill. The "locals" are horrible people...one followed me and took photos of my butt.
We took our dog with us and there were at least 8 or 9 other dogs as well. The "people in charge " targeted me and my family and followed us around the park telling us to keep our dog away from the donkeys...which we were. We know the donkeys are wild and unpredictable.
One of the "people in charge" said it again (this was time number 8). I said thank you but we understand and will watch her and it's not necessary to keep saying it.
She gets rude and threatens me and threatens to "lock me up because I'm a threat and so is my dog"
How either myself or my small dog are threats I have no clue. We were simply enjoying our walk. (I'd like to add that a little girl was with her family nearby and was FEEDING THE DONKEYS HOT CHEETOS IN FRONT OF THESE PEOPLE. The "people in charge did nothing)
A donky gets spooked by one of the locals and moves towards me. The woman who threatened me "cheers" for the donkey to keep going and attack my dog. (My dog was over 7 feet away with my dad.)
This town if full of toxic people with no redeeming qualities.
Absolutely the worst place to visit.

Oh wow, that's terrible. The first I'd ever heard about of Oatman (and the burros) was from a RUclipsr (RV nomad), on her channel. She's a transsexual, but she didn't mention having any bad experiences there. I'm not sure if she'd mention it anyway, though. A lot of people say they can tell right off she's biologically a male, so if so you'd think she'd get some hateful reactions from bigots at times. I think she keeps it on the down-low if that happens.
