I work at a donkey sanctuary in the UK. we have 4 Mammoth Jackstocks, and one of them is Derek, who is presently the 2nd tallest in the world. We haven't measured him for a while, so who knows, he may be the largest. We also have three Zedonks
You have my dream job. I have adopted 3 of your donkeys, one from Leeds, another from Sidmouth and I'm forgetting the third origin. I can't wait to visit my donks.❤️
I have a Spotted Standard donkey. If you want more, you may find them in the Mollala, Oregon area. Donkeys are wonderful riding mounts. I ride a Standard Sorrel and have had 8 beautiful years with him. I wish people would realize that donks are great for riding and driving. When buying equines, horses aren't the only choice!
This is good to know for me! I volunteer at a donkey sanctuary in Canada, and am learning about these beautiful animals. I understand that many are worked to the nth degree, and are not well taken care of unfortunately. How sad this is for me. But I love to hear that you have a spotted standard and the two of you are riding together! Just fantastic!
Interesting. I don't think it matters where you go while researching an animal you'll hear some contradictions. These are beautiful animals and I'd like to get into this starting small just as they've done.
Donkeys are very smart animals and also have a heightened danger sense. People simply mistake their cautious behavior as being stubborn. A donkey isn't stubborn; it merely thinks its human handler is being an idiot for trying to put them into random situations without assessing any potential danger first.
I have seen people tie calves to them to halter break them. Every donkey i have ever met had a strong hate for dogs and would chase them when they went in the field with them,
Where is this big demand for the mules, and for what purpose are the mules wanted? I ask because I have heard that many donkeys/mules are used in China, a Communist country, where the donkeys are abused to such an extent that they only live a fraction of their normal life span. I am a volunteer at a donkey sanctuary in Canada.
If a chiropractor can adjust their atlas, then the babies will be born with it in correct position, in case the mother had it done on her before to get pregnant. There are chiropractors for animals.

@@fredhorsefeathers3225 Hello, Fred, Amazing name you have chosen. Wonderful, really. I watch these videos and others, yet I have never owned a horse, a donkey, or a mule. I spent my youth, my teens, and my adulthood longing for them. I love them all. Actually, I had a rocking horse named Trigger, which I reportedly rode by the hour, a pass-time I recall only by stories told me! My first choice would be a donkey, my second, a mule, and third - a horse, my character, personality, and physical strength being what it is. I’ve told people the same for years. People around us breed the most beautiful mules you can imagine. Their horses are beautiful. I’ve never seen one mistreated, never one. I am so grateful to the people who post their experiences with equine of every kind. There are so many who love, and instruct, and help others to do the same. The ugly side shows itself also, which I know is true. I am grateful to those who rescue, love, instruct, and help others to do the same. I’ve enjoyed speaking with you. I wish you well and safe and free.
I'm not sure what a Percheron mare is....but I recently met a very very tall female mule, she's golden brown, looks like a horse with big ears, is much much taller than I stand....she's magnificent!
Donkeys are not stubborn, they are smart and cautious.
and sexy
Yep
I always believe that they are misunderstood and also that they are more proud than horses this is why they do what they feel is right
I grew up with horses and donkeys and as a kid I was afraid of horses but never from donkeys. They are incredibly friendly if you treat them good.
In awe of the size of these lads
Wow, they look so good. Not overfed and well taken care of. Friendly to those they trust.🐴
Much respect. Thank you for taking such great care of your livestock. Really enjoyed your video.

How tall is Derek at his saddle height?
@@brendabrinkmanpasichnyk3500 Last time he was measured he was 16 hands. Unfortunately Derek grew too fast, and he isn't the best example of his bread

Donkeys are SO cute. It would be nice to see one drag a wagon.
God chose a donkey for Jesus Christ to walk into Jerusalem because they are such peaceful animals
Donkeys are not stubborn they just have very long memories and if they got away with something one time they will try evrytime.
And if you mistreat them, they'll remember.

What's the use of donkeys in farm
They can be used to protect the herd from predators

Why?
@@littlebrookreader949 probably because there are so many misused horses and donkeys out there. Some people feel that way about breeding dogs as well.
