I followed the directions from Mike Derr and found a small zipper stuck in the felt lining. Pulled it out. Took 20 minutes to fix. Easily saved $200. Thanks Mike!

I have the answer!! I was looking up how to take my dryer apart to see what was causing a thumping noise and I saw this video as part of my search. Here was the answer for my Frigidaire dryer: There was a piece of a metal button stuck in the front felt-drum-carrier. At the front of the drum there is 2 hard plastic bushings. They are 2 strips that each go half way around the inside of the drum. These glide on the felt that is just inside the door. If anything is sticking up on that felt, it will get hit twice per revolution and give you a thump noise---not good. To get to it, I had to [1]UNPLUG, [2]two screws at the top cover back(remove top), [3]two screws at the bottom front, [4]disconnect two wires at top right, [5]two screws at top and the pulling gently at the bottom out, then up slightly, remove the front (door and sides). I had taken my control panel off as well....not sure if that is necessary. The door assy that I removed is where the metal button had gotten wedged. Check all around the felt liner. My dryer is about 8 years old and so I found a huge amount of lint had collected in the vent at the bottom of the door. Just make sure that while it is apart, clean everything you can touch. I did not have to remove the drum or belt, nothing but the door assembly. My wife helped hold the drum while I removed and replaced the door.

Great, great, great help. It was as Mike Derr described below.
You can actually fix this without taking anything apart. At least there is a chance you can. Suspecting the same problem, I just ran my finger around the inner rim and found a slightly sharp item jutting slightly out of the gap between the drum and the front frame. I couldn't tell what it was, I stuck my head in and used my phone camera and could see something. It was loose, and wiggled relatively freely and it felt like the tip of a screw.
It almost felt like I could just yank it out. I tried a few times and it moved around. I got some needle-nose pliers and it took a couple tries but it came out. It was the pocket zipper to some cheap sweatpants. What finally worked was that I pushed up on the drum, which made the gap bigger to allow removal. (The zipper was stuck at about the 10 or 11 o'clock position of the circle.)
I actually have been annoyed to have had things getting stuck in that gap for years. A drawstring here, a button there, a zipper this time. Usually they remain attached to the clothes. The dryer will then grab the garment and just wring it to death. I've ruined a few articles of clothing this way. If your dryer has this same problem, it may be worth it to put some painter's tape on anything small enough to get stuck there, or to put your clothes inside out before drying as prevention.

Good stuff. I didn't have anything caught but i did notice the lip of the drum was bent enough to hit the plastic slides. Thanks!

So I'm going through many videos and this is the one that sounds closest to the sound I'm getting...its the only video I could find with the the cyclical thumping. Hoping to find an easy fix like yours. Thanks for the video... so helpful. What I will do is make a video during my repair so there will be 2 videos

there are weld marks that when the drum was made from two halfs and at those weld bumps every time it hits the roller it thumps.... when dryer was new it did not make the noise but after the rollers dried out and hardened you can hear the double thump.... i bought a kit replaced the two roller, a new belt and pulley assembly... still thumping... i figured the wheels might be as hard as the old dried out wheels... i do not want to grind down the high spots of the weld that was done from the factory.. dry is 13 years old and gas... i will put up with the double thump... dryer works great other than the thump... also had to replace the two gas valve solenoid four years ago...

If anyone comes looking, here is another report that might be helpful. While I did find a drawstring metal cap embedded in my drum felt, this didn't fix it. My felt was thin on top so I added some felt pieces to smooth it out. This didn't help either. I wracked my brain and finally just decided to tighten all the screws I could see. Sure enough, one of the screws that attaches the drum bearing assembly (there are three) was loose. I spent upwards of two hours troubleshooting this thing.

You are so funny I'm cracking up lol I didn't know I had a twin one two one two as if we couldn't hear it I speak the same language my kids said mom come quick and watch this video there's a lady who talks exactly like you...are you a worry wart too reminding everyone to keep their jackets on and bring their umbrellas better eat breakfast before you take off that's a long time before your flight lands and here don't forget the hand sanitizer for corn sake the airport is a Petri dish of bacteria whatever you do do not touch your face until you have given your paws a good scrubbing then scrub them a gain for good measure..btw my dryer is doing the same thing and these yahoos want $100.00 just for the call fee and diagnosis. I told them not to hold their breath I would hang laundry in my front yard before I pay $100 to come out what if they say $300 to repair holy cow I could buy an entirely new dryer and make payments and be less stressed out. Have a wonderful day thank you one two one two for posting still giggling my tush off over here😉

These doesn't seem like a problem, but an added Feature. Get a keyboard and a guitar, you could make music while drying your clothes! :)

Mike Deer's comment: Yes, mine was a screw my kid (24 YO) left in his pocket.
suggest looking at this first, since you don't have to pull the drum out to repair it.
    Thanks Mike!!!!!
