Bachmann could’ve done something like this for Legend of the Lost Treasure, and it’s a real shame they didn’t. Come to think of it, both of these brands also released a metallic Thomas for the 70th anniversary of the RWS, but Bachmann went and added extra decorations to it that cluttered the beauty it would’ve had otherwise (in my opinion). At least we got an LBSC green Thomas model.
FUN FACT: this isn’t the ONLY Thomas with that face, it was also sold separately as an exclusive to the retain chain ‘Modelzone’ in 2010 as part of the franchise’s 65th anniversary. However, the model does not come with mud/weathering. In fact this model I’m referring to is probably more rare than this version…

No doubt about it. I am still interested in acquiring this Hornby set. The Great Discovery had some pretty good merchandise and this Hornby set is one of the best. And since Bachmann didn't make one, what's going to stop us from making our own? I'd like to try a mud-weather a Bachmann Thomas, Annie, Clarabel and a couple of trucks.
As an American you always wanted the British Hornby Thomas because it looked different but as a Brit I really want a Bachman Thomas as their Thomas range is just sooo much more accurate to the TV series. Except Percy, I prefer the Hornby Percy his tank shape is nicer to me than Bachman’s more rounded approach. If only it didn’t have the weird gaps in the tanks from that separate piece.

Any chance you can modify it to have a white runningboard? Sorry, I’m kind of a detail freak. Of something isn’t accurate, it annoys me for the rest of time (I.e how Bachmann Thomas doesn’t have a red rectangle on the back of his coal bunker)
