  • Betfair trading software is a must if you want to Betfair trading is a very competitive market, but now and again something comes along that is a game changer.
    If you betting in-play or doing any sort of Betfair trading in-play on Horse racing, we just launched a new feature for Bet Angel that will completely change the way you bet or trade these markets.
    There are two key problems with in-play betting or trading on horse racing. The first is that camera angles can be deceptive and lead you into a trade when you can't clearly see the action of the horses.
    The second is the infamous in-play delay. Because of the delay in transmitting TV pictures, there has been a turf war for the faster pictures available.
    This has resulted in people even using Drones to get faster pictures than most people can see at racecourses.
    This new feature in Bet Angel, now gives you the ability to benefit from racecourse telemetry. Each horse has a special device installed in the saddlecloth which can now transmit horse specific data, straight into Bet Angel.

    Excellent addition to Bet Angel. As somebody has already pointed out an overview image of the course and the location of runners would be hugely beneficial, especially if a certain horse is either running on the rail or wide.

Laughed at the Biff replica, one of my favourite films. For one second though I thought you had talked Betfair into allowing us to opt out of the 2-3 second IR bet placement delay on the ladders. Maybe one day. Good Work Team BA. Off to the forum....back from the forum.....I'm not sure how this information is going to be used to make a profit. except to confirm front runners early on. Tried it out today for the first time, couple of glitches setting it up, use the info on the blog post, first race pretty big delay from prices to data, depending on race length pretty easy to scalp on the longer races, different on the shorter races, still a minefield imo. I would think you still need live pictures as a horse could fall, the price of yours shoots in which you have just layed and your wondering what the hell is going on, certainly very useful tool and actually really enjoyed using it, going forwards I do think showing the fences at the race marker indicator would be a good idea or when a horse was about to jump the fence the cell turns red, just a thought

      Have experimented for 30 races or so , what is apparent is the time the horses start to run to the time of bet angel going into play or the live feed pictures is down to under second, what ive just witnessed at Newcastle really hasnt filled me with confidence, tried it on the place market, 8 runner race, 8th place horse 6 meters behind 3rd place in the late stages , trading at even money for a place, the horse was more or less travelling at the same speed at horses in front, in less than a second the odds went into 1.06 and suddenly it was 3rd. pretty impossible even if it was travelling at 1 mile per hour faster,

    TPD already partner with Betmover and plot the horses position on course maps. I can't really see how the speed and position in running is useful as a number flashing on a screen. If it was next to a graphical rep of a horse being displayed in realtime on a course map then yes it would be awesome. Betmovers price is very steep to commit and find out it's 5 seconds behind live although bet angel appears to have it reporting quick enough to have a reasonable representation of live action?
    Any thoughts welcome?

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  2 года назад

      You can use the TPD licence on either if you wish.
      This is just the start for us and it seemed natural to make it available on Automation first as this immediately opens up a huge range of opportunties. I'm using it to trigger positions based on distance and how close the race is, or isn't. This is the great advantage of automation. Also it can alert me to opportunties.

    Good video. It was a 9-10 seconds delay here. I'm not from the UK, but like if you watch a race live on TV, or a supposedly live stream, could it be delayed even by 10 seconds? I thought that would be 1 or 2, maximum 3 seconds. I mean if it is usually around 10 seconds or so, it should be easy then to win betting in-play when at the track (or the drone thing), right?
    Another question: Could you do a video and show how you actually use this stuff for in-play betting, I mean like what data you consider when back or lay a horse, and how it is automatized (if it is)?
    Thank you and good luck everyone :)

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  2 года назад

      A live stream over the internet should cut out the final up and downlink to the final viewer. So a live feed should be a little faster than TV pictures, but still slower than a data feed direct from the course. TPD quote 200ms for the feed latency.

    If a horse fell/unseated, would its speed drop to 0 (or much lower than every other horse's speed) and it would be immediately obvious?

    • @elastronaute1198
      @elastronaute1198 2 года назад

      if the horse fell I imagine it'd drop to zero but if unseated the data feed would probably still show the horse running since the data is coming from sensors in the saddlecloth

    • @rstevens7711
      @rstevens7711 2 года назад

      That's an interesting question. Or, if a horse unseats the jockey but keeps running and presumably records a decent miles per hour figure.

    • @BkWDrums
      @BkWDrums 2 года назад

      I worked with the TPD about 14 months ago with my own software. Fallers were not immediately obvious and they require manual intervention from TPD operator at the course who will remove the faller from the list of runners once they notice it has fallen. At least, that's how it worked back then. I certainly wouldn't bother trying to lay a falling horse off the data

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  2 года назад +1

      My understanding is that process is still the same.
      Because there will always be a bit of jitter, I think backing or laying based on some micro data is likely to be the least interesting strategy. It's not something I've focused on.
      But you can detect a sudden slow down in speed. I figured out fairly quickly that you could detect a jump just from the drop in speed and therefore ID where the jumps are and their impact on runners, which I found quite interesting.

    • @betangeltv
      @betangeltv  2 года назад

      Runners are removed from the data if they have fallen, so you shouldn't see them apart from immediately after a fall.

    regarding camera angles, protocols need to be put in place. No side on gate shot when horses break from the stalls. No close ups. No shots from behind. No moving car angles. No low angle shots, no artsy-fartsy nonsense. The director/producer would be shot if they tried that garbage in Hong Kong, and I'll gladly be the trigger man. Each race course needs to install camera towers and protocols for how each race is shown. Absolute low-class garbage production from these people....as if they don't want you to see what is going on. It's all down to licensing. If the local bodies don't want to releae the data there is nothing TPD or we can do about that.
      We have had discussions with other bodies, but the data is theirs unless they choose to publish it.

      We are working on the next few versions now which will integrate more uses of this data. We intend to allow people to interpret and use it however they wish. So that should be helpful.

    A lot of money to subscribe tho? If your going to do this you will probably have to go for £60+ a month depending on how many races you want

      🤣 So wrong on so many levels. Bet Angel Trader which is a closer comparison to Geeks Toy is just £18 for three months, so it's actually cheaper.
      Bet Angel Professsional has diverged massively from other software in the last ten years. So there is no comparison on that front.
      Ultimately, just use whatever you want. But we are going to keep on adding new and innovative features like this to help our customers keep moving onwards and upwards.
