TBH I really loved the way they introduced Christopher, because most of the time in single mom shows the absentee dad is made to be a villainous antagonist. I get your fear of him getting in the way of Luke and Lorelai, but I personally appreciate getting the background on Lor's past. It contextualizes a lot with her family, and it's nice to see Rory have a good rapport with her dad. But that's my .2c !
I also think it's important that Christopher and Lorelai *clearly* have chemistry. Because... of course they would. And that's part of the problem. She does love him, but he's just useless.
"It's giving me Georgia and Zion" is so funny because Georgia and Zion were based (loosely) on Lorelai and Christopher 😂 Georgia even says as much in the pilot with her "We're like the Gilmore Girls but with bigger boobs!" line 🤣 Joe is Georgia's Luke and Paul is Georgia's Max 😊
the gasp I just gasped 🫢I watched season 1 when it came out so I had no Gilmore girls knowledge at that point but you're so right! she does say that line in the pilot! I need to get to season 2 of that show. but wow, thinking about it longer, it makes so much sense! 🤣
I love Emily so much for the kitchen moment. I agree with you about all the other messed up stuff she does, and I don't give her as much of a pass as some fans tend to do, but this is a moment where she knocks it out of the park. I feel like every kid who's felt like maybe their birth messed up their family probably needs to hear her line - I love that she covers all the bases with both "your person and your existence" not ever being a disappointment. They don't just love and accept her because she's a good kid and a model student and can make up for Lorelai's waywardness, they have always loved her. And of course Kelly Bishop is great as always!
the BLOODLUST you had when Richard started throwing hands 😂🤣That conversation with Lorelai and Richard about why he did it is a really great window into the way he and Emily think. Christopher, by the way, is one of the main reasons I avoid commenting on Lorelai's love life for these reaction videos. I'm an aging millennial, I've had all the fandom fights I wanna have. Let the young'uns have opinions, I'd rather have a nap instead.
With Emily...one step forward, two steps back. She becomes more complex and layered down the line. And the road to Luke and Lorelei won't be easy. Both have past loves that haunt them.
Such a great episode! I love Luke but He is so slowly with Lorelai and his feelings for her. The first season is great but The second is one of the best! ❤❤
i’m honestly not a chris hater like some others but boy oh boy do i hate him with lor and rory. he has the foundation of a good man but he literally only came back into his daughters life when he thought he can get lor back.
@@geoffingoff I thought she wanted to make a metaphorical point. Also don't think he was lying. At least not then. Do we ever see Dean near a motorcycle? Certainly some other things are or will be retconned from this episode.
@@HuntingViolets Dean also says in 1x12 that he and Todd work on their "bikes" together because Todd has the good tools. Spending that much time on actual bicycles doesn't make sense--this is clearly a reference to motorbikes, which can casually just be called bikes. We never see it, but I think there's more indications Dean does have a motorcycle than not. He likely sells it sometime in seasons 2-4.
Yeah, it's clear he was lying, and also, Scott Patterson who plays Luke interprets Lorelai's warning as a euphemism when he talks about it on his podcast. Like "she's not getting on your motorcycle" was meant to be code for "you're not getting my daughter pregnant" 😂 I feel like that interpretation makes sense once we learn that Christopher is a motorcycle guy 😅
The “Emily made me cry” moments are there bc how else are her dastardly ‘omens supposed to hurt if you don’t know she’s capable of THAT much heart?! Bless our problematic Queen…
I think this show doesn’t really do a good explaining why Lorelei won’t go out with Christopher. Obviously there’s history, but does she just not love him? I can see why she didn’t want to enter into a relationship or get married as a kid but now? Christopher’s business venture seems shady but he seems pretty put together. He’s not exactly an abusive alcoholic. I think Lorelei is kind of stuck in the life she created for her Rory. She’s proud of it but also limited by it. Her independent is her fatal flaw. With her parents, Max, Christopher.
I agree that she is independent to a fault. You're right that they never spell it out for us. This show requires a lot of reading between the lines. I think she views choosing to be with Christopher as the "dynastic plan" since it was the plan laid out by their parents back when they were 16. Therefore I think she views it as "giving in" to what her parents want. So it's sort of like, welp, if I'm gonna do this with you, this thing that will make my parents grin and gloat forevermore, then you had dang well better earn it so chop chop get cracking. 😂🤷🏻 I dunno, maybe I'm waaay off base in that interpretation, but that's how it comes across to me 😊
Just putting this out there: I just realized that in the last ep everyone was pressuring Lorelai about her feelings for Luke - and then she goes and does this. Did she do it knowingly? Of course not. Subconsciously, though, knowing her 'exit dance' habit...? Christopher arrived at a right time, let's just put it that way...
he's very slimy. i want to scream every time he calls her "Lor". i don't know why that triggers me so much. it's Lor-re-Lai!!!!! preferable 3 syllables but if you're in a rush to get her name out 2 is ok from time to time.
i feel that! i'm really interested in christopher for sure and i'm not opposed to seeing more of him but i was really concerned by him asking rory not to tell lorelei that his card declined and lying about his company 🩶
@ryannrodkey5669 100%... that's what I mean... he's immature. But I also kind of get it... people constantly putting their expectations on you. Telling you that you're great, you will be great, you could be great, you could have been great.. and. when you don't live upto that it makes you feel shame. Especially with the woman you love, the woman who actually does seem to have it together and did it while being a single mother. It's the male ego in full effect. But I don't think he is a bad person. At least from what we've seen.
Since I've seen the whole show it's fun waiting for your reaction of certain things like praising richard... um... not so great and you going "they'rr not gonna kiss are they?" ... um... yeah? And then some. Yeah. Christopher is ick
I love how fast you are releasing these!
thank you so much for watching!! 🩶
Poor Luke he looked so sad. Love that you're so invested, this was definitely a dramatic episode. Go Emily & Richard on this one!

The essays I, an ancient millennial, could write about Christopher 😂

i hate richard so deeply in this episode lol
Dean apparently got a motorcycle since the “She’s not getting on your motorcycle”/“I don’t have a motorcycle” speech/response a few episodes back.
Lorelai repeated "She's not getting on your motorcycle" after he denied it so my guess is she was correct in not believing him.
