Born in Canada to a Scottish mother and raised in Scotland from the age of 5 or 6yrs old. He was a glorious sponge who soaked everything in and saw it as valuable. Hugely talented and a great loss - but wow, what he accomplished in his short life, is mighty.
When I attended a Martyn's concert in Galicia in the late 90s I could not believe my eyes, and I had played the pipes at that time for almost 20 years! What a great talented lad. He was almost beginning, I wonder what he could achieve in his prime... Only God knows. Rest in peace.
My dad bought Martyn's album 'Glen Lyon' whilst we were on holiday on the Western Isles and at a young age I was mesmerised by his music and the magic within it. I had no idea he had passed away and nearing that age myself it frightens me how short our journeys on Earth can be - May we all live and love to the fullest
Need to hunt this out on CD. I used to collect music then I stopped for 10 years living away from home. Now I'm back, I've revved up again and anything by Martyn Bennett is music for everyone.

this is brilliant work, really like how he used so many aspects of music for someone so young to have an understanding of so many things. Was really brilliant and then the pipes :) pipes played like that always make me smile lovely xx
Could you please reupload this somewhere with better quality? Like make a google drive download link or something please I'm in love with this and can't find it anywhere!! Thank you!
@@2neutrino He was born in Canada. Martyn’s grandfather was the head of the Canadian Bank at they time. Martyn’s parents split shortly after he died. His mother moved to Scotland and his biological father stayed in Canada.

Well said.
First heard a track from Martyn in Norway around 2005. Put it down on a tape, then mislaid it. Still not found it.... But found this!🌞
The true ‘Swallowtail’, by the one and only Martyn Bennett. Long live his Spirit in this Earth.
Amazing music and he was a wonderful man, too.

Wow this is as
He’s actually from Canada.
who said he wasn't?
neutrino.. some of the other people commenting.. seems a common misconception as he lived most of his life in Scotland.
@@MoebiusSound That's understandable as his mother was Scottish and his father Welsh. And yes , he lived in Scotland for like 28 years

I won't hold it against him
