  • We travel to Shiloh National Military Park This FULL tour of Shiloh National Military Park helps share the history of this famous battle!
Always use @rvAmerica to find us!
The video highlights the same route that visitors experience when trekking the battlefield, including famed locations such as Pittsburg Landing, Grant's Last Line of Defense, Shiloh Church and The Hornet's Nest. #shilohdrivingtour
There is no replacement for being able to see America's Hallowed Grounds in person, but we hope this serves as a worthy option for the virtual experience. With that being said, we encourage you to visit Shiloh in person. Shiloh National Military Park.
Seeing Shiloh National Military Park with adult eyes was very different for us.. We had been there as kids (separately), but now it was so much more meaningful. Join us for a tour of this Civil War Battlefield. Located within the boundaries of Shiloh Battlefield is also a United States National Cemetery, which contains 3584 soldiers and their family members.

First of all thank you veterans, past and present, for your service. Three months ago I was one the pallbearers of my very best friend and neighbor James E Smith affectionately known on our property as ‘Jim Sr’…I was called ‘Jim Jr’. It was very difficult for me, firstly, bc we were burying such a wonderful man and my best friend. But, looking out across Veterans Memorial Cemetery here in Houston and seeing so many of my comrades laid to rest was staggering to say the least. One day in the future I’ll be buried here as well and be back among several of my friends buried there also. Thank you for this military tribute. Safe travels! ~Jim~

My great grandfather and his brother were Privates in the 23rd Missouri Infantry on the Unions right flank of the Hornets Nest. My grandfather was badly wounded in his neck.( whether by musket ball or arillery fragment I do not know) It took a year before he was able to resume duty with the unit. His brother was captured later in the day ( Apr 6th) when the Union line finally collapsed and spent time in a prison camp in Macon, GA. He was later exchanged in a prisoner swap, but died of disease while in St Louis , MO. Great grand dad went on with the 23rd in Sherman's March Through Georgia and was discharged in Dec. 1864. He returned to his home in Missouri, but headed for California after the war ended. I believe due to all of the vengence killing and such going on in Missouri and Kansas. I was fortunate that my mother was able to relate so much of his history to me before she died. He died in 1937 at the age of 95.

Danny said that over 2000 of the soldiers were unknown. So I guess they basically didn't know the names of many of them. That's so sad. Safe travels, friends. 😊
