Brooklyn Theatre has over the past 8 years established itself as a leading opera venue in SA. With two full opera productions per year an Operetta Gala as well as an Opera Gala with the GPO, local and international opera singers are featured in stylish productions to ensure the survival of opera in SA and cater to the tastes of opera lovers of all ages in Gauteng. The 2017 Salon Music production of La Traviata (Verdi), with 6 sold out performances, was an unequalled triumph. Three different productions of Mozart’s Magic Flute has been been staged at Brooklyn Theatre and we now follow up with a brand new production in Jan 2018. The Magic Flute is prescribed for Matric Subject Music and is an ideal work to introduce young people to opera. There are timeless melodies and a perfect blend of serious and comic elements in this masterful tale of fantasy.
