Ive been searching for one for years. This toy brings me trauma: when I was in kindergarten, I brought this toy to school. And the teacher took it away from me. When I went to ask her for it at the end of the day she "couldn't find it". And some other kid was claiming it was his. So I'm pretty sure she gave it to him. I never saw it again.

Hey Michael, you sound disappointed on the video but i want to ket you know this crystar figure is based on the comic book version of Crystar and NOT the Remco toy version. The sculpt is taken right out of the comic book and i love it!! I had the comics and bought them new as they came out in 1983. I always wsnted a toy which was acurate to the comic so this is a dream come true for me.
Nice review and comparison. I like how the original's mask helmet can be removed.

@@MichaelMercy I really hope this figure does well because I would LOVE to see more Marvel comic book characters get the Marvel Legends treatment like ROM and Visionaries. That would be epic!
Yeah it's nice to see the not so well known characters get a Legends figure. Loved seeing Bob Budiansky's Sleepwalker get a figure. Let's get Larry Hama's Nth Man in there too.

Marvel Legends is a line that I've been cutting back a lot on to better focus my collection, but when that Void wave was shown off Crystar and Power Princess were two figures I just really wanted to have and I'm really happy with the both of them. I know they've they would like to reuse the mold to make some of the other characters. We'll just have to wait and see if that gets to happen.
great review as always. thank you. I will say, that the original had an Aqua color to it. Which made it spectacular. This light blue color makes the figure look more like an ICE figure.

I remember crystar coming out alittle before he man and gi joe. I didnt know it at the time but i was a remco fanboy , i had all there toys. I wish we still had toy companies like remco now a days

The void is the build a figure, a bad ass villain. I would love the void as a figure but as you said the cost of a baf for characters im not interested in is just too much. I only really wanted power princess for my squadron supreme
The older man on the front left of the comic looks like Emerald Seer from the movie Krull lol threw me off for a second. He looks cool, but yeah that original does look more crystal like with the sharp chiseled lines of the sculpt and choice of plastic.
Disappointing they didn’t make him original scale
make a wall and stick the tentacles on it and have Crystar fight them, like its a creature coming out of the wall

I like it, i think it does the Original justice, but you just can beat the purity of the original. Also Now that we got Crystar as part of Marvel Legnds. I'd love to see a Rom the Space Knight Marvel Legends action figure. Since marvel are Reprinting the Old Rom Space Knight comics. Now that we got Crystar as part of Marvel Legends. I'd love to see a Rom the space knight Marvel Legends action figure. Since marvel are no reprinting the old Rom space knight comics.
ROM would be a great candidate. I wonder if we'll see Nth Man (Larry Hama's character).
Marvel is actually coming out with a Deadpool Team Up #1 Comic on August 26th and he’s supposed to appear in it. He appears on the cover as well.

Yup, happy to see a modern version of him and one that's so similar to the original, but there's definite room for improvement. Imagine what Mezco could do with it.

1 minute in I was already on BBTS ready to buy one then by minute 7 I was all set. Cool but kind of a bummer. I LOVE translucent toys but this one is cloudy and dark
Yup, another case of "they don't make them like they used to" but also a case of "better than nothing."
@@MichaelMercyI just feel like the people who make these toys have zero connection with the original and with toys in general. They could've messed up many things but getting the most charming aspect of the original wrong is just ridiculous. Its not like Remco was as the top of the game in the 80s haha
True, Crystar figures should be "crystal clear." I never thought there'd come a day where we'd be longing for the quality of Remco and LJN. 😆

For years I randomly had the crystal staff thing you had laying next to the figure. I never knew what it was for as I never had the figure. I also have no idea how I came to own it.

I thought Crystar looked really cool and weird so I got this figure as soon as I could. But it's nothing special. He doesn't look crystal, he looks milky. He feels cheap and like he will break if I push his joints to the extreme. And his texture doesn't feel smooth enough to give a crystal/glass texture. He gives the impression of a slapdash effort; he's basically another muscleman with nothing interesting going on. What a disappointment.
But hey, at least now I have translucent tentacles that I'll never use.

Yup, I always assumed he was a Remco invention and they hired Marvel to do a comic, especially since the toys came out first, but he's a Marvel creation.
