Stiv was a friend of mine back in the late seventies, we worked together in a factory near Youngstown Ohio. Stiv always made the day fun at work with his constant antics, he was the craziest guy I ever knew. I used to see him play at the local clubs when his first band was called “ Mother Goose “ I love his music and was lucky to have known him. I’m proud of him.
lucky person ! kisses from Gstaad Switzerland
mjmm but whats that got to do with the vid ? im curious !
Ya, right was you friend, what else? Stiv was British never worked in factory NEVER!!!!

Steven John Bator (October 22, 1949 - June 4, 1990), known professionally as Stiv Bator and later as Stiv Bators, was an American punk rock vocalist and guitarist from Girard, Ohio. He is best remembered for his bands Dead Boys and The Lords of the New Church.
In the director's commentary of the film Polyester, in which Bators had a small role, director/producer John Waters stated that Bators' girlfriend, Caroline Warren, confessed to him that she snorted a portion of Stiv's ashes so that she could be closer to him.
Yes ,STIV you are missed, hope you are well in the afterlife
Man Stiv if you could have just hung around I love listening to the growth and change this is beautiful . Miss you man
Sharon E Did he pass away over the years?
Yea he died in 1990 in his sleep after being hit by a car while crossing a street. He left the hospital because he said he felt fine and went home and died of brain injuries in his sleep. SO SAD! :(
He was a kind and good friend. Missed deeply
@@desireec.crooks78 did you really know him ? if yes , how lucky !

Listen to it all the time and honestly it is one of the best song of the classic 80 ❤️🥃
i'm going out to buy a bass guitar and put this song on my bucket list
Did you ever do that?
The best song EVER.
Stiv was nearly hypnotic when I saw the Lord's in New Orleans. The dangerous antics he performed like climbing the lighting rigs was risky but he did too much to list here.
Stiv was SOMETHING ELSE!
so veridic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stiv was one of the best rock musicians, stage artists and punk images in the world. so sad he died i imagine how much more great stuff he could write.
dropagemonem 😔😔😔😔

Another talented Singer that died young RIP Stiv😞😞😞😞
As I once told...don't confuse temptation with opportunity. This song is a warning..

Spike Burst I remember that Club. I live in Bunche Park, near Carol City
I was there once I it 18 (in 88), I forget the DJs name but he worked the Kitchen and other assorted spots. I always remember thinking how cool the dude was because he not only took requests but left a dry erase board or notepad outside the booth for people to write em on.
Fantastic song, I love that melody.
Ha 40 anni questa bellissima canzone che purtroppo pochi conoscono. È un capolavoro.
The L. of the N.C. Were so fantastic back in the 80's !! I love them !!
Very "danceable" song indeed! :) reminds me some good night club adventures!
Such a GENIUS track!
Ta for the 12" version, which was impossible to find back in the day. This song is among the best of 80's music imo.

All time fav song. I luv the extended version best.
Logically.
Great extended version!!! Love this epic song! Thanks Stiv & dudes!.... 👍❤️
Riding home late at night from a club on a Friday or Saturday night and this song would be playing on CFNY.
I grew up in the GTHA as well, and loved CFNY ("102.1...The Spirit of Radio!"). Looking back on those days, i didn't realize how extremely fortunate we were to have a station with such knowledgeable DJs/program directors who paid close attention to the music scene in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and continental Europe much more than most stations in North America. We really got to hear the best of everything in the 70s, 80s & most of the 90s!
@@derekbaker3279 I know right. We were very fortunate.
you are so right .i love the 80ties

@dirkwearsws Cool! Thank you!
nice
Very good song
Would have been a breakthrough hit if MTV hadn't pulled the video (for wrong reasons). An absolute unknown classic. Still play it all the time. Rip Stiv.
You're absolutely right. It was intended to warn of child predators and MTV assumed it was to glorify. A distant associate of the band was arrested and was disowned by the band who then sang of the need to protect the young around the world.
@@psiResearch who was the distant associate of the band that was arrested?
@@User-kv5bn4dxn apparently it was a person that the entire band knew but I'm not aware if the Lords publicized his name. But I do recall a statement that he was never to be welcomed by the band again so some assumptions can be derived that it may have been someone in the music industry. Since then there have been public revelations about well known figures (but not musicians) facing a similar accusation. It's not difficult to conduct a quick web search about this. It would be unjust and irresponsible for me to name names.
STIV!!!!!!!
I like stiv's voice😍🤩
Geiler Song der Lords. - New Church für immer!...
La mejor con diferencia *****
Great collection of 12" Mixes you have available, just one thing though, Depeche Mode's single "Leave In Silence" was released in 1990, not in the 80's. It's unfortunate really because it is a great track.
Leave in Silence was a Top 20 hit single in the UK in August/September 1982.

Perkins Palace, Pasadena 85? Great, then same timeframe the Damned at Santa Monica Civic Auditorium
