Hey thanks for all the common sense you packed into this! I live in Vancouver, i worked in Jasper during the 80s and am currently trying to organize a camping trip for my niece and BF who are coming from Austria (not Oz) its so much more complicated than it was back in the day. Im having to use RUclips, Parks Canada site, provincial park sites, 8 library books and 2 map books all to put together an 8 day trip!! Niece rented one of those campervans, and im borrowing a tent etc for myself. Thanknyou for emphasizing the need to leave wildlife wild, and to be respectful of our indigenous peoples, and to make sure youve crossed everything off that to-do list!! I enjoyed your video a lot and willbe thinking of you in September (we're going from 5-13th)
Really well done thank you greatly appreciated. I live in AB and have asked so many people here for tips and only got 10% of the info you shared here so thank you so much!
WOW. You have packed a ton of information into this video. This is my home area and I have travelled the route several times. For a visitor, you have captured the region very well. Your visuals are excellent, highlighting all the best we have to offer on the route you travelled. I look forward to watching more of your videos. WELL DONE!
I'm so glad the video could bring back some travel memories for you both - I'm itching to see more of Canada (and the US!). The scenery is so dramatic. P xx
Yassss!! I’m so happy you’re excited for it. It’s very informational with some great footage from our trip too! I wanted to share all the stuff I wish we had known and hopefully it helps others (like you!) plan an amazing holiday 😍 Phoebe x
The amount of crazy behaviour I saw around bears and wildlife in Canada shocked me! People getting out of cars to run over and get a photo on their iPads 😳
Your travel videos deserve way more views!! This is probably the most detailed and informative video of the Canadian West Coast Roadtrip! Thanks for the great tips! Planning my roadtrip to Banff and Jasper and your videos has been a ton of help!! Gained a subscriber today 💙
Hello!! WOW You're so kind, Jasmin - I can't tell you how much your comment means to both Matt and I. It keeps us inspired and motivated to keep making videos like these. Thank you so much for watching 😍🙌🏻 hope you have a great day! Phoebe x
Thanks for the informative video. I'm planing a canadian rockies road trip for 5 days. Some tips for renting a car: I rent my cars at home. A SUV like a Toyota RV4 costs me around 280 Euros a week and I pay no deposit at pick up because I use my MC or Visa. Renting a car on arrival is VERY expensive in Canada and you have to pay some very expensive insurances too. It's cheaper to rent a car a few months earlier.
Hello!! Thanks so much, Lila! Hope you have an AMAZING time over there. I've no doubt you will - it's such a beautiful part of the world. Thanks for watching this one, have a great week ahead. Phoebe x
Hahahaha at least I know if we ever go missing you guys will notice 😍🙌🏻 sorry we couldn’t watch this one with you but we’ll be there for next Friday 😊💕
I agree, it’s sad to see wild animals pay the cost of human carelessness. They deserve better and, really, it isn’t difficult to follow the bear safety rules so there’s no excuse! Phoebe x
Hey phoebe Love your videos so informative 👏🏾 👌🏽 Me and my partner are planning to do a very similar trip to you guys in Canada but we are unsure when is the best time to go as we are trying to avoid large crowd but also have decent weather. We have 3 weeks to spend travelling so hopefully that enough time.?
My advice is to go with whatever time you have! Do what you can, when you can. It’ll be amazing no matter what the weather or crowds are like. You just gotta seize every opportunity 🙏🏼 3 weeks sounds great!
Really awesome video! What on earth did you guys end up doing with the camping gear you bought??? I am from QLD as well and trying to convince my partner to camp instead of airbnb.... so much savings haha he is super worried about bears.
Thank you so much!! 🙌🏻❤️ Okay, so we donated most of our camping gear to a shelter in Vancouver, so it goes to those sleeping rough. There were a few things we brought home (like the esky, which we used to pack stuff in). I was super worried about bears too 😂 turns out, as long as you follow all the safety instructions (I.e NO food in your tent) you’ll be fine!
@@travelforphoebe Awesome, thanks heaps for that! I was thinking of donating as well, do you have the name of the organisation? Mind you we aren't going back to Vancouver we are flying out of Calgary but assume there would be something there too. Where did you guys find the cheapest camping gear stuff, walmart? Any other tips?
Thanks for all the useful information. We are planning a trip to Canada in summer and it was good to hear your opinions as a fellow Queenslander and obviously used to much warmer weather. Also I think you've convinced us an RV won't be the way to go with that bond - yikes!
Have done all these routes over several years and several times. You can't beat BC and ALTA - Your footage of the Athabasca Glacier was not, you showed the Crowsfoot glacier!

I guess that’s up to you! If you use a credit card you may have to pay bank charges on each transaction and there may be places card isn’t accepted, only cash. But you may not want to carry that much cash on you. We usually take cash out when we arrive and avoid using a money changer. We just take cash out every few days or use a card that doesn’t have transaction fees. But, totally up to you.
I’m from Alberta. Yes Vancouver crazy expensive. It’s an expensive trip you went on. Tourist places Jasper and Banff . Very beautiful tho. ❤️❤️❤️ There are NOT bears everywhere in Canada. 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ Where I live the closest bear is probably 4 hours away
Love your tips about the bears. It angers me to no end when people feed bears and they end up losing their lives for it. Just a note about Airbnb through... In Vancouver proper, Airbnb is pretty much not allowed in apartment buildings. Many many many Airbnb bookings are cancelled at the very last moment in Vancouver leaving tourists stranded and having to pay $500+ per night in a hotel or staying in a bed bug ridden hole. If it's a house or suite in someone's home though, you are much safer when it comes to Airbnb.
Thank you so so much for sharing your tips!! They’re so good for first timers like we were 😍 that sounds lovely! Hopefully, we get to visit again one day soon. Phoebe xx
Hi phoebe we are going to Canada in July and August from the UK and we have enjoyed watching your your clips . I just want to know what you did with all your camping equipment when you flew back? We are camping the same as you but not sure what to do with all the equipment at the end of the trip. Maybe we could sell it or donate it? I don't think we'll be able to bring some things back because of the weight /bulk.
Hello! Oh wow, you’re going to have the best time. We were able to bring some home with us (our favourite things and stuff we’ll reuse) the rest we donated. There are many people in Vancouver, especially, sleeping rough and in desperate need of basic supplies. I recommend finding a collection centre or similar and dropping of what you can for them to process and distribute. Have a wonderful trip! Phoebe x
