Second time through The Bible In A Year. I found you by accident. It was during the COVID thing and our church had shut down. I was desperate for a Sunday morning Bible study. Found this and stayed with it. It has been a blessing to me. I begin each day with Bible In A Year and it has made a difference in my life. God is always working and I believe He is working through this podcast. I not Catholic I am a Southern Baptist who happens to be attending a Methodist church who listens to a Catholic priest read and talk about the Bible.😁
Will you be listening to the catechism in a year? It’s a good way to learn about the Catholic Church from its actual writings and not from what others presuppose. Not trying to get you to “come home” as others would say but just to suggest to be open to learning about Catholicism.

I have been following the Bible in a Year on the Ascension App but it crashed yesterday and it will not work now. So I am now following along on RUclips. I pray to the Father, in Jesus name, in the unity of the Holy Spirit that all of us in this BiaY community will be blessed with faith, healings, knowledge, understanding, peace and joy. Amen.

Great lesson, so insightful. I used to think church was just church, just something to do. That we should just believe in Jesus and try to be good. Father Mike, wow! I never heard the Book of Revelation as referring to the Mass, to the Eucharist. Wow! I always thought it is a Book of Prophecy of what has to come. No wonder, it was very difficult for me to understand it. Now, I do and it does make sense. Jesus is here with us in the Mass and in the Eucharist! Incredible! I feel sad for those who left the Catholic Faith. They are missing out so much. Another thing i observed and wondered about is that priests that I have contact with, they do not get excited about the Book of Revelation like those other Church ministers do. It is because they (Catholic Priests) know that Jesus is here with us truly present. Wow! Incredible! Amazing! Thank tou, Father Mike. God bless you and protect you always.

When I read Revelations as a Freshman in College it terrified me! I went to my Parish priest to discuss and he basically said that when I was ready to hear Revelations, it would make better sense. And today is that time😢 It took going through the whole background of the OT! (56 years later) And it seems so beautiful ! Thank you.

December 25, 2023 Round Two Please, do you have just a moment in time to pray for Souls in Purgatory with me? According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great, was told by Our Lord that each time she piously recited the following prayer, it would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory: Eternal Father, I offer You the most precious blood of thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, for those in my own home, and in my family. Amen. In her account of another vision, St. Faustina describes Purgatory as a "great crowd of suffering souls" undergoing purification. Further, she says that the souls are "praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid" (Diary, 20)
Yesterday a few of us from church went out singing carols by the local shops, and tonight 22/12 we had our carols by candlelight service, this service used to be packed, sadly that is not the case now, but I am just having a bit of a rant here (sorry folks) What do I read in the paper today, this was the headline "O come all ye wokeful, carols censored so they don't upset other faiths" The church of England has been accused of 'losing the plot' after it urged the clergy to change the wording so it does not offend. One hymn has the words 'Jesus is the true Messiah' this was seen as problematic. This is their own people coming up with this stuff. My goodness if we cannot sing Christmas carols without fear of offending, we might as well give up, the thing with all this woke stuff is usually the people they are trying not to offend, don't care! as it says in the article even Putin doesn't order Orthodox churches to censor carols at Christmas.☹

This is my second time around the bible with Fr Mike. The first time I just listened, but really couldn't retain it. The second time I bought the bible Fr Mike reads and started to take notes, now I have nearly a full year of Fr Mike's thoughts and highlights - it is a real gift. Hope you decide to listen to listen to BIAY again, there is so much still to learn.

I kind of liked how fast Fr Mike talks during the OT stories, but in the NT, I have to keep stopping and reading for myself, the words whiz by. I think he’s getting excited that it’s almost over.

I'm asking for prayers from Fr Mike and BIAY listeners for successful knee surgery this Monday, Dec 27. My left kneecap broke three days before Christmas, and we just met Dr Romero who is the surgeon. I have complete confidence in his skill to repair my knee and send me home to my grown sons to recuperate. Amen.

This is my second time around the bible with Fr Mike. The first time I just listened, but really couldn't retain it. The second time I bought the bible Fr Mike reads and started to take notes, now I have nearly a full year of Fr Mike's thoughts and highlights - it is a real gift. Hope you decide to listen to listen to BIAY again, there is so much still to learn.

We are greatly blessed by you father. Thank you for explanations in The Book of Revelation in relation to receiving Jesus in the Eucharist "for nothing is impossible with God" as Mary heard, and especially when we can be "If we approach with faith, we too will see Jesus ... for the Eucharistic table takes the place of the crib. Here the Body of the Lord is present, wrapped not in swaddling clothes but in the rays of the Holy Spirit."

I kind of liked how fast Fr Mike talks during the OT stories, but in the NT, I have to keep stopping and reading for myself, the words whiz by. I think he’s getting excited that it’s almost over.
If you hit the settings button, you can slow down the speed as much as you need to. I always go down one level and it makes a world of difference for us. Hope this helps!
