Moto Stars seriously needs to stop saying a car cut the rider off when the reality is the car was just changing lanes and the rider was going way faster than the flow of traffic.
Or the car was going way slower. What if the car was going 20 under the limit and cut him off going normal speed. You just assume the bikes are speeding
Go to motostars and complain
Agreed. Gotta love when squids get pissed at the car "cutting them off" when the biker is going 30mph faster than everyone else.
Cars should also keep in mind they are not the only vehicles on the road they should start looking out for bikes too
@@jvillain9946Regardless car had every right to make his lane change. Blinker and lane open. New rider and not a fan of splitting myself because it puts you in avoidable situations like this by simply not doing it
cardos might be good but not for $730/pair. that's ridiculous. my $100 bluetooth sets work perfect. doesn't $700 seem high or is it just me?
My goodness what Cardo is that much? I spent $200 and mine is amazing
@DovesDescent the Packtalk edge dual goes for about $650. But I got my Cardo 2x Duo for only $300 for the pair I think. Works well for my wife and I on rides.
My buddy got a $100 Bluetooth, and said it worked great. It wasn't so great for us on the other end. It was horrible to listen to all the background noise. Had to give him my older cardo when I upgraded.
Agreed. I have a AU$100 Fodsports FX10C headset system, has Mesh and all. Sounds and performs the same if not better than my friends Cardo, which was 6 times the amount. Don't believe the hype!
@@tangosucka2000sure buddy
Thank you for the compliment on the braking. Pants were thankfully unstained
10:05 100% stolen bikes. All the trademarks in regards to the riders - trackies, puffa jackets, JD sports bag, way underage and not on L plates. If you're from the UK and familiar with the twocking epidemic, you know exactly what I mean.
As a new rider these videos are very helpful. I don’t even get close to putting myself in these dangerous situations.
90% of these can be avoided just by slowing down, especially as a new rider
Well.. That means you must be doing something right 🙂 probably as a result of having things OK in your head 🙂
Ride hard & ride safe.
A lot of people just don't have the common sense to be riding .
Watching these videos, I don't get why some of the bikers just keep "their" line of riding, despite clearly getting an indication, that some car or truck is going to (potentially) cross that path. Of course, all that while honking, revving, cursing & yelling & blaming all around. I do not see too much of that in the EU, though, so I'm under the possibly false impression, that the path to get a bike-riding license in the US is way too lenient.
@@buffalodebill7986the one at 6:04 really had me wondering wtf he was thinking
@@DarthRenegade12 Makes two of us 🙂
@@DarthRenegade12 Yeah, the more reasonable of us refer to these guys as PILOTS and not riders.. Speeding during daytime in urban areas is always a very bad idea - the risk is so high it's close to already being an accident waiting to happen.
😂 the one with the campfire and david Attenborough, very funny.
15:27 - did he just say ‘that’s a false leg mate, you broke the other one’ ……. That’s some shit luck.
Yes he did O.O
Riding season is just around the corner, good to have DDFM videos to freshen up on the stages
I never understood target fixation. I press left I turn left. If I look right and press left I turn left. Can someone please explain this to me as I can’t understand how looking in a direction makes you go that direction.
Your body tends to follow the head. When you look a certain way you typical also lean into it
@@huskers1278 I think the tends to is the key. I find myself able to turn no problem while looking in a different direction.
@Denali_Rebel Hopefully someday I'll be there just started learning about all this stuff lol
I know we get emotional with a close call but before abusing the person who almost killed you, imagine it was your mum that did it to you or a psychopath who just might finish the job off. You might have a different mind set.
There was a crash outside my house this morning, 2 on a motorbike a man and woman into front/side of an moving car, the man had to be moved by ambulance 🙁 🙏 be safe and ride safe everyone.
I wish drivers and bikers would all just be more friendly and safe towards each other and have respect for one another 😔 I swear, I know car drivers that ride bikes always try to because they understand
You claimed that this is 30 minutes of beginner motorcycle mistakes.
Reviewing the footage determined, that was a lie.
Ive actually found the thumbs down and shaking your head embarrasses them more then the middle finger does lmao
Most of these accidents during lane splitting are during illegal lane splitting. Yes, lane splitting is legal in California, but you shouldn’t be going more than 10mph faster than the speed of traffic. These guys are usually going way to fast to be able to react to a lane-changer in time.
I was a LEO for 26+ years and last several years as an accident investigator. Two motorcycles were staged and started doing wheelies eastbound. A car, northbound, stopped at the sign, didn't see anything and proceeded. The m/c headlight was pointed in the air and by time to react stopped his bike just prior to impacting the B-pillar. He was pronounced at the scene.
Been trying to get my mate into riding. Been gassing him up about how sick he'd look on a bike. Also just so I could get a packtalk edge duo with him lol
I mean, I drove code three in the opposing lane more than once, but I wouldn't force people out of the lane. If there was traffic I would move back over.
"Paul Bunyan skidmark"
😂😂😂
@24:00 is in the Philippines. Marilaque Highway to be specific. That specific corner is quite narrow and sharp, lots of people overshoot that turn if they are not familiar with the road. Even on a bicycle, that corner can sometimes catch you off guard because of how sharp it turns compared to the previous corners which are much more gentle and flowy.
They should add small break lights in front of cars to know if they break 🤔
16:10 Rookie rider. Just take a look at her lines. Right turn coming up and she's still in the middle of the lane. Takes early apex (typical rookie move, afraid of not making the turn if she takes a late apex). Then comes the sharp left turn. Again early apex, slingshot to the outside at the exit, meaning she was on the wrong side of the lane for that even sharper right turn. And she carries her speed to boot, not breaking nearly enough. Limit point approaching fast! Whenever that happens, there's only one possible outcome my dudes: you WILL run wide and possibly out of the road. The car had absolutely NOTHING to do with this. Learn to take corners in an advanced riding course, not on the roads. Learning on the road is costly and foolish.
pulling someones keys out of their ignition is not a smart prank. Especially in the USA, what if they were carrying? You could have got shot because you think its funny to mess with people's shit.
Even here in the UK, I would not be fucking with other people's shit. I do not know who they are or how they will react.
Here on our little, overrun racist island, we are taught to use the horn and light flashing to warn other road users of our presence. Almost every time you go out, you will use the horn in those just-in-case moments. Also, light flashes from the back before an overtake. It works well. If people become pissed off, it's not your fault; it's theirs. Don't be afraid to use that horn, old boy. Road craft is a thing of beauty.
I wonder if the rider in the first clip would have a far better reaction time if the vehicle that changed lanes had amber turn signals instead of those brake-turn signal combi lights the US does
edit: the situation at 6:30 feels like a design issue too. I wonder if that stroad is prone to crashes given that it's designed like a straightaway, but with driveways and intersections popping out of nowhere. Travelling fast feels normal, only to be followed by points of conflict out of nowhere.
Good job Motostars and DDFM. We learn a lot to handle different situations on the road. Valuable resource for all riders.
I cannot understand why you have to squeeze between two cars when the distance between them is only as big as the width of the motorcycle. And at an inappropriate speed, too.
The people turning off the bike would be picking their asses off the ground.
I would think that noticing and avoiding discoloration in the road while making a turn would be damn near impossible.
I love these videos even though I don’t have a bike. I’m going to get a bike and these videos will help. Fantastic content.
At 0:47 even if they were looking at their mirror the radius of the turn would cause the rider to be in a blind spot. Maybe if they looked back at the exact time they were exactly next to the car behind but likely they’re looking right to their right mirror to switch right

I wanna start riding but don't really know what bike i need. Can someone give me some tips?
Is that in-between the lanes thing legal? I'm pretty sure it's illegal where I'm from.
23:13 Looks like the Ambo is trying to drum up business.
0:09 he wasn’t able to react he because he checked his mirror you could see the slight head tilt to the right. then coincidently the car switched lanes
Do you think crash bars would be necessary for a new rider?
21:21 you can see the truck tried to stop him from lane splitting
In trucking we are trained not to defend [aka fight for it] our space instead create space
I can bet that the guy that overturns his motorcycle at 2:50 was riding without having his feet on the pedals. That explains why he put so much strength whem he applied the front brake.
Indicator light on for 1 second, bikers fault. For sure dude.
Watch MotoJitsu lane filter. Nothing like that dude
24:33 rear brake only harley rider strikes again.
How did they film the overhead shot at 12:40?
even EXPERT riders make mistakes
Mate! I have been forgetting to click LIKE!
I have been watching HEAPS of your vids, and I learn so much- thank you! I will consciously hit like every time from now on.
Thanks again, from your fan in New Zealand
I jus have 2 drivers there 1 finger salute today (on a Sunday 🤦🏾♂️) 😅
21:45 the first instance flight mode had been taken from me I’d be in fight mode thinking I was getting mugged. Second time I’d have realized they just thought they were having some fun and shook my head waiting for them to go. Maybe tried to explain that doing that is funny from their perspective but terrifying for the victim.
Too many commercials
Messing with my bike, and their car is right there? Well, their keys and a storm grate are right there too.
Yo Dan Dan hope you enjoy the Smort gag. Lol the invite to the Smort community is always open.
In that first clip you can tell the rider was looking at his right mirror as the camera moves to the right and he preemptively swerves left to give him more room to maneuver around that car. He was worried his mirror would hit that car's mirror. That was definitely a case of the rider not paying attention for a moment and failing to recognize the merge until it was too late.
@26:15 He wasn't fighting for the lane, he is allowed to use the bus lane and the car cut him off as he was going for the lane. 100% agree with the let them go and don't fight for position but in this case it wasn't what he was doing.
In the first video the rider was fully in the left lane at that point and basically rear ended the SUV

2:50 - taking his spot might be a death sentence - you dont know what is in front of that car.
I wonder if it would be smarter to allow "lane splitting" everywhere, but limit the speed to 5-10 MPH. Maybe even allow breakdown lane/shoulder usage at a max of 25 MPH.
A country like Netherlands has a 10kph difference of flowing traffic it's speed rule
Though forbidden in my country (SK), I ocassionally do it, but ONLY when there is a long column of cars AND when all these are stopped - and my speed NEVER exceeds some 10 kmph. And I NEVER do it when I have a passenger. And "suprisingly" I have never had any issues like close calls or getting blocked or so.. Rather the opposite scenario, when drivers even moved a bit to the side so I could pass - for which I always displayed a thumbs up or did a graceful head-nod.
IMHO the key is perceptiveness, patience & respect for others - and I tent to flatter myself, that the pre-requisite for these is just being right in the head 🙂
Thank you buddy
First! Love these man watch them everyday
24:00 that's definitely in Philippines, its one of the spot where a lot of motorcycle riders overshoot.
The place is Marilaque Highway, where riders showoff (in a bad way) there skills thinking that public roads are racetracks
That's why people should not wear those silly helmet covers; getting yelled at by a muppet on a Grom is funny and won't make people rethink their actions. 19:18
Hey all you young rider out there. Keep that middle finger of yours active. Every time you flip that digit out there at someone you create at least one, maybe more people in cars that hate your guts and will go out of their way to make your life even more miserable. It's a simple law of physics. "For every action there is an equal reaction".
