Yup you can ride snow.. Actual ice (like when you get this glazing on the road, black ice), not so much... But with snow there is still decent traction if you don't do anything abrupt.. and don't lean too much... take it easy..
It is amazing watching your videos how many folks really fail to look for cues like motion from the side - front wheel angle and wheel rotation of cars all around you etc.. I worked as a bike messenger in a major city years ago.. That is definitely a place to learn what I call "offensive riding"! Read and anticipate upcoming traffic of all types.. Thank you for great education!
You have to! I won't condemn, I had a GSXR and I was quite foolish on it but, after my last (and LIFE CHANGING) crash, I'm constantly scanning, predicting, making eye contact, making sure folks see me, everything. Yea, like you said, basically "offensive riding".
After 50 years of riding and hitting spilled coolant, Oil always seems to be in a curve, Biscuit gravy dumped in a curve and surviving this I have learned to keep my distance use intuition and observe continually in traffic. ride to enjoy another day for years to come. Keep the angel of warning in your soul.
I feel my safety factor has gone up significantly since I started riding much lighter weight bikes. My Zero S weighs in at 313 lbs. Ducati Scrambler at 430 lbs. My previous bike was a Honda ST1300 at 700 lbs.
Nice choice in bikes man. I am on my first bike, a 200cc cruiser, and it weighs about 240lbs. Somehow I don't actually want a much bigger bike next because of the weight implications.
(Not counting DIRT bikes) I started riding in '92 or '93. I've taken long breaks but have rode at least half of those 30 years. BOTH of my crashes were on cruisers, neither were my fault, even tho I have many more miles on sportbikes. I totally get ya! I felt more "in control" on my GSXR than my HDs.... buuuut I also rode like an idiot, while I had it. So, the safety balances out for me lol
I love your videos yes you say this shit constantly but thays whats awesome your out there to protect all riders new and old..im gonna be a new rider soon by next spring here in Canada and its pretty much burned into my brain all the stuff you say love it
so fucking true! 90% of the other scenarios its the bikers fault for overtaking on the right, enforcing a lane and not paying attention or splitting lanes (besides being illegal in most places they are also going way too fast). but at 06:00 this is where you can drive totally safe yet still get wrecked just because of a reckless egoistical asshole that thinks hes on a track and not a public road people often only speak about the riders skill or safety when cutting corners but almost never how it puts other traffic participants at great risk its truly terrifying
It's them, and the Maxwrists of the world who fuck it up for everyone else, as usual. See them all the time on those roads. All have cameras and all do it for the cOnTeNt, because millions of voyeurs cant wait to see you bin it half a dozen times on camera.
That first rider lane filtering shows how it should be done. Ride just 10 mph faster than traffic. You will still get cut off occasionally, but it will be a non-issue and easily avoided. This is how you can ride the next 40 years without wrecking yourself or your bike. Passing between cars at a high rate of speed is saying to yourself that I want to be in a wheelchair one day.
19.55 as a car driver I would never expect anyone coming that fast in a situation like that. The motorbike is going at almost 80 km/h and it's crazy. I would rather expect a motorbike come a littler faster than the traffic speed. In these situations the fault is always on the motorbike, in my opinion
The one thing I hate about riding country roads is everyone has gravel driveways and they scatter their gravel all over the road everytime they pull in or out. Its such a buzzkill
the funny thing with the speeding is that, i have no issue with wanting to go fast what's crazy is that when something happens, you really shouldn't be getting mad at any other drivers; we make the choice to do this.
Why are many fighting for the position, people in vehicles mostly do not watch for a two wheeler, especially in a blind spot, and the Prius is notorious for their huge blindies. We had a guy blow through traffic really fast with corners, he T-boned a truck that was merging on the corner, the two wheeler kept arguing "Why did you cut me off!" X10 all of us that tried to help him said your speed was excessive, yet he didn't think anything he did was wrong. 🤦🏻♂️ Yeah he wasn't thinking
Dan, Right after you shamed the guy for using an air horn to scold the caged, it wasn’t 60 seconds later you were making fun of the next guy’s “little dinky motorcycle horn.” I have an air horn that I very seldom use, but I ride a sidecar hack with a LOT less opportunities to swerve my way to an escape route. IMHO, EVERY motorcycle would benefit from a better horn than the toy horns they supply on stock machines.
I wish more people teach you how to fall or at least how to try and fall. Maybe even practice with a bike. Growing up downhill skating, downhill biking, riding dirtbikes, and rollerskating, I see so many folks in these videos try and brace with their hands. Such a big no no in falling. I bail on trail every now and then, and some of it has happened at moderate speeds and I always try to never bail on my hands and stay loose. I think this line of thinking would prevent a lot of injuries. But hey what do I know.
If the road turns slippery, do everything you're going to do a smooth as you possibly can... Slow down by mostly coasting/engine braking and a little bit of braking on both wheels and don't shift down to fast. 18:47 But he didn't indicate ... 🤣 21:00 I think they are stray dogs...
Finished the MSF this weekend. I'm terrified to lay the bike down. Turning wide as well. But the MSF was not a good experience. I felt rushed and most everyone there had been riding for 6 years without a license
Try and relax mate. You are terrified of dropping your bike. get that out of your head. Remember to look into the turns and push the handlebars (countersteer). Always look where you want the Bike to go. Never look at the ground as that is where you'll land up. Ride safe and don't forget ...Enjoy yourself. Riding is a great skill to master.
As someone who got their license 2 weeks ago and never rode before. Relax remember the fundamentals. Ride around your neighborhood or use the roads that you usually do on your car. I’ve had a bike for barely a week and a half now and I already put in almost 1000miles. Just don’t be stupid and if you are being stupid make sure you’re doing it in a safe manner with proper gear.
I had an opposite experience with the course I did last weekend, one guy had been riding illegally for a while, one had ridden in the past and myself and three others had never ridden before. The biggest thing I can think of for you is to just drop a bike (at slow speed!) and get it over with. I had already dropped mine at home before the course, day two of the course I dropped the bike doing a U-turn. Practice somewhere safe and go do the things that you are nervous about and be proficient with them.
My MSF course was a terrible experience as well. Had an awful instructor. I was really nervous to pick up my bike and ride it home, but just remember. Find a parking lot and practice before you even take it home. Do your warm-ups the same way you did in MSF. Start slow and build your confidence.
That crazy/stupid intersection is market Street in sf, I believe. It might be the most anxiety ridden street ever created. If it's not the drivers it's the tram/busses or random pedestrians crossing anytime they feel. Can't forget the bicycles also. It's hard to navigate on 4 wheels let alone 2. White lines criss cross everywhere which can lead ppl into eachother. I hate driving it. The pch is glorious tho. Thing is there are groups who intentionally throw sand on the highway. Not going to guess why just want ppl to know when riding cause it may cause riders to wash out. On a nice day there is a really nice view of the GG Bridge. Weather is weird around there. Can be warm downtown then on the avenues could be foggy and cold. Pch is def worth the ride but downtown not so much.
maybe, maybe not. Depends on the road and country. You should always be aware of road surface hazards in any part of the lane. I usually find the center to be in good shape and with very little oil.
He didn't... It's the other classic fail on motorcycles in general... When he panic-yanked the handlebars, he hit the throttle at the same time. Accelerating during tip-in is a classic way to lose traction... and frequently ends in a fall. He got lucky. The tip is to ride such that you CAN anticipate even the dum-dums, so you DO NOT PANIC... this avoids yanking, kicking, stomping, shoving, and jerking on controls and throwing or whipping the motorcycle around, and keeps you firmly on the seat on TOP of the bike throughout the ride... which should be all our objectives on the road. While it IS important to get in the parking lot, and (just as Motojitsu warns) learn the emergency maneuvers that ARE violent motions, it's exactly the violent energy of those motions that makes it ONLY appropriate to really practice them in parking lots and AWAY from other people and traffic. It's only practice, so pushing limits a little is even encouraged, so you can get better at it. Even the swerve part of "brake-n-escape" is a VIOLENT whipping motion first to one side then the other, to get around the obstacle at the last possible instant... and it's not meant to be easy. If it was easy, NOBODY would ever crash. BUT on the road, especially with traffic around, it's the time to APPLY what we do know, and keep ourselves free and clear of hazards and falling so we don't create further problems to other traffic, too. That's all part of riding with Road Strategy. ;o)
19:07 told him he should have informed the other drivers of his intention to change lanes before doing so (idk how these lights are called in English).
Many of these bikers' attitude: How dare you move your vehicle at all while I'm coming through. I mean you come riding right on the lane divider, and expect everyone to not move because you're virtually occupying 2 lanes! Plus you're speeding. That entitled attitude pisses me off
90% of these videos (Europe), these guys are literally driving on the white line. They have no room for error. Its a wonder that any of those guys are still alive and you dont have a different video!!!
you mean these idiots cutting corners like that? or splitting lanes at high speed? both are absolut morons but the "race drivers" also put other people at risk 06:00
All of these lane filtering videos make me terrified. Both to be a rider lane filtering and be a driver and have riders lane filtering around me. It’s not legal in my state and I have mixed feelings about it.
Because horns aren’t going to help you as much as actually reacting to the threat. Braking and swerving will actually save your life. Honking a horn just makes the crash a bit louder.
29:10 You actually have 5 possible positions in a single lane. This guy should have remained on the Right position and only switched to Center if there were cars coming from the other lane. You position for safety>stability>vision. Most squids only position for speed and it's not even a good positioning that they do. This was an early apex. Bad riding all around. I'd be pissed if I were the pedestrian.
Great full-on something, something minority thing, dude 13:20... unless the thief was retrieving its own property....and, you're right, let's move on...

Yup you can ride snow.. Actual ice (like when you get this glazing on the road, black ice), not so much...
But with snow there is still decent traction if you don't do anything abrupt.. and don't lean too much... take it easy..
@jazzdirt yes, you can.. it's a challenge.
I really like the attitude, "Take your space cushion back by rolling off that throttle."!

Nice choice in bikes man. I am on my first bike, a 200cc cruiser, and it weighs about 240lbs. Somehow I don't actually want a much bigger bike next because of the weight implications.
Your riding style should change when riding a large cruiser. You can drive a semi as safely as a car, you just need to know your limitations.
(Not counting DIRT bikes) I started riding in '92 or '93. I've taken long breaks but have rode at least half of those 30 years. Defiant rider.. That name says it all, let people ride man, no need to honk..
This video highlights the people that give us bad names. Riding like they own the road.
My big takeaway from this is that no matter how small the injury, you're going to explode.
yeah bro I got a paper cut once and fucking detonated like a damn nuke

I think 12:00 is not a thief but wanted to grap the person to stop them from trying to cross so they dont get run over.
I'd keep it below 30mph in these conditions. Cars spin out all the time like this
in the one clip where the person running over gets hit by the mopet, thats in France! probably Paris. you can tell by the amount of Burquas
Half of these riders are in need of an attitude adjustment. They keep riding like that, and they won't be riding at my age.

You really shouldn’t ride if it’s cold enough to snow
There's no such thing as the "apex" on a public road

Sometimes in the rain too
