Wow, her van is fantastic. I'm so glad she is doing what she wanted to do. Things take care of themselves when you move in a forward motion. Thanks for introducing her to us, Jamie.

Jamie, I cannot thank you enough for this interview. You asked all the questions that I've had rattling around in my head, but haven't heard answered before.
When you asked Dana what was her inspiration to go see what was over the horizon, I started to tear up because that is exactly what draws me to this life. As soon as I had a drivers license, I was driving over the hills and mountains to see "what's over there" beyond what I could see.
You are both totally inspiring. Thanks for everything you do!
You have a good set-up there, sister. Freedom, cold drinks, and fishing-tackle sounds like my idea of what fun is.
this is my kinda build!! she shops like me!!! LOL
Can you ask Dana to please do youtube videos? I would love to watch her adventures on the road!
Rock on Dana! You're a great inspiration for not just women, but anyone who dreams of living on the road and seeing this country.
Thanks, Dana!! Great tour and interview!
I just finished watching all of it and I have to say that I'm very impressed with Dana and her view on life. She's an original gypsy hippie girl, having started out with a 62 VW bus when she was 21. And, I'm just like her in a lot of ways, like when it comes to trying to get a bargain by talking people down, because really, with my low disability income I have to, or I would never have anything much. And I love how she has her van operable for everything needed for van life. She's a very fine example for me to get into the van dwelling lifestyle. On my income though it's taking me forever to save up enough for a van. Anyways, I really enjoyed this interview , very, very cool. Have safe journeys Dana ! ✌ ☕ ☮
Thank you and unfortunately my name is spelled Dana
Dana Holmes.I loved your story Dana this was a great video..All the best..Chad
Oh okay Dana, it's very nice to meet you. I see that Jamie had it spelt wrong. May you always have safe travels Dana, with much peace. ✌ ☕ ☮ :-)
I found this interview with Dina was great! I love her attitude and her abilities to live the way she feels fit her as a human being. Dina seems more than capable as she has proven to do the mods she did on her van. I have yet to make it to Arizona. I just did my first month long trip south, stayed in walmarts, truck stops and state parks.
Maribeth you make it to Arizona and will get some lady's together and do Buckeye or Lake Havasu camping have some good spots
Hey Dina, keep us posted on your travels....really nice van set up, love your smile too
What an intelligent, gutsy lady.. This was an excellent interview and she really knows her stuff. The interviewer asked all the right questions..And I learned a lot...Thanx Joe Blow
very smart woman
I learned a lot here. Thanks so much.
Great interview, Dana is wonderful - nice person. She need to be a professional shopper for people, knows how to find deals!!
Dana sure can wheel and deal on purchases. 👍🏼 She found some great buys! Glad she is able to control her diabetes while on the road. A very interesting interview. Thanks!
Oh honey this is just what I needed to see. I have a kitty on medicine that needs to be refrigerated. Thank you so much for posting this. Dana is so beautiful and wow what an inspiration. 💖💖💖
Your welcome and thank you for the kind words.. Laura Anderson
Gotta love Dana, she's such a warm sweet spirit!! Dana, if I ever get a chance to meet you I would definitely want to be your friend!
thank you and Spirit is the name of my van
Such an inspiring interview ! I love the fact that she hasn't let anything stop her ; including medical issues . I have congestive heart failure , but you'd never know it to look at me . Being a Pisces I have always had the traveling bug . Never could stay in one place for very long . Now that my kids are grown I think it's about time I took a chance and did what I know my soul and spirit want to do !!!
Wow! She gets the bargains! :)
Jamie, This is the first video interview I have watched of yours but I'm looking forward to the catching up on the rest of them. If your videos are like the one you did with Dana I'm excited to watch the rest. I love watching interviews with nomads. I'm not a nomad but I want to be someday and I already have the RV to do it with. For now I would like to try to head south during winters with it. I'm hoping to get to the RTR next year. My daughter said she would drive me there in my RV. (I hate to drive long distances and she loves to) The nomad community has so many great people in it!
I am taking Dina shopping for my rv supplies!!!!!!! She is fantastic at finding deals. Thanks for the tips on where to look for them.
Wow! What a resourceful lady.
A nice interview. Thank you.
Oh wow I just love Dana! I wish I had the skills she has. I want to hire her to do some things to my RV! Or have her teach me how to do it. Her van is so nice! She should buy vans and remodel them and re-sell them.
Kool Van
Dana you're awesome inspiration for people to just get out and do it.
Way to go Dina! Very inspiring.
Thank you for letting us meet her. She seems like a really great gal.
That was great. Haven't seen Dana since the The Van Build. Hi Dana, from Tiki.
Hi tiki, were are you at now?
What a wonderfully positive outlook on living your life to the fullest, Dina, despite any challenges that are present~

MommaFaye
I am impressed. Very good, Dina.
A tent makes an awesome private bathroom/shower room/changing room. You can also wrap a tarp on the back doors for privacy stuff.
Thanks Jamie, for putting those fantastic videos up there, for us to watch and get inspired by. Wonderful people, and nice rigs. You are doing an amazing job! Greetings from Denmark on the other side of the globe🤗

Such a great tour and talk.
Powerful story
Hi Diane. You are so encouraging. I have medical issues also and that is why I'm thinking of living in a van temporary working out the challenges as I go, of course, after doing my homework like watching this channel. Best wishes to you both!! Great/practical questions and a well thought out plan.
Thanks for the information on the TV input plug, I can't thank you enough Dana !!
Holy Cow! A woman built from the same mold as I was!!! My primary list of importance....ICE!! Thank you Tina! I got some really great tips!!! I was feeling a little overwhelmed looking at all these top builds on Instagram and the videos where there's a big, brawny guy doing the build.... great ideas that she offered!!! I'm ready to get started!!!
Does she have a website/RUclips?
Thanks again Tina!! Got it all written down!!
Lauri
Your more then welcome I like the name Tina but its Dana I'll answer to anything that makes good friend like the ones I've meet and hope to meet in the future..🚐
Ack! I'm sorry Dana, I was the one who got your name wrong. >< I'll fix it later tonight.
Dina, Queen of The Deals! Great interview.
Great interview!
She did a nice job.
I believe the Xantrex Pro XM series is a modified power inverter.
Good interview.
You're right, however that particular model has been discontinued and was difficult to find, so we linked to the next available option.
Great choice of music, love the
whole soundtrack.
Oh, Dana! I can't wait to get out there. I just have to save up for my rig! You inspire me!
Dana I am impressed with the way you put your rig together. Hope to meet you on the road and maybe we can do a little fishing. :) Thank you for posting this Jamie. I feel inspired
I like your video's, thanks for sharing
Awesome! Thanks for Sharing!
Awesome video! Love Dana's rig, very nice and comfortable. Thanks for sharing
Happy Trails Sister
Gypsy cunning...love it ;)
She is brilliant.
Safety Tip my elderly neighbor- She has a recording of vicious dogs - police sirens- men arguing... She said when someone comes to her door that looks suspicious- she just plays a recording and laughs quietly. She told her kids she's staying put in her home till she's gone (91 and going strong)
This has been one of the most helpful videos I’ve seen, thanks!
Nicely done!
That is what I did for my Toyota Sienna. Found on eBay and after much research on the vehicle knew it was the one. It had a dent on the driver side door and a few minor flaws so used that to talk down the price. It also had a crappy battery and knew I would have to get another one. I was the bird in hand and told the person I only had X amount of money available for the van and it was within reason.
Nice van and she has been very resourceful
Interesting video.....thanks for this !
Dana reminds me of Cheryl Wheeler the folk singer.....
Thanks for sharing. I am a type two diabetic. I have been since I was 49 when I found out. I been living in my van for 9 months or so. That's one of the things I worry about, is my diabetes because I don't know much above it, and I really don't have anyone that I could call on if I get sick out there on the road. I should never let my disability get in my way no matter what. I am not the kind that asks for help do to all the disappointments and rejections that I have received over the years. I do believe there are people who want to help, and as like myself would go above and beyond. I even worry about A flat tire, changing a flat would even be a task for me. I enjoyed your video thanks
I'll change your flat Frank. I just need to be close. AAA is about $100 bucks a year last time I checked. This is very do-able for you!
thanks bud. I know a lot of you guys will help me. I see in your videos how you all do for one another, and that's just the kind of people I need in my life.
FranK I've been a diabetic for over 41yrs I'm a type 1 I'm on a pump and I alway make sure I have more then enough insulin and food 😒 will on the road plus I never drive when I do not fell good if you think smart and be safe you'll be fine.. Jamie and all the vandweller and nomads are good people go to the FB page find out where they are and they will welcome you with open arms Please be safe and stay healthy on the road
Dana Holmes thank you
Jamie, ordered a fridge! Thanks for the this good video!
Great video and great lady! Wish could follow the rest of your adventures.
I love her! Such a great job!
What a lovely lady. Would love to follow her on RUclips. Pity about the music at the end. Blocked out the conversation. Thank you so much for sharing.
Jamie was just thanking her and praising her efforts, and she was thanking some people who had treated her with friendship and kindness and saying hi to some other people, perhaps family.
Great video Jamie and Dana!!
great video thanks
I was watching a video, of yours, you ask a man if any thing funny had happened to him.He did not think of any. I made a trip to Canada, last July. Met a man in Bangor Maine.I ask if he lived in Bangor. He said yes and pointed to a Van in the parking lot. He said Heparks at Walmart. Every night. I saw a large Pet Box on a rack on the back of his Van.I ask what is in that box? He said chickens. I said chickens? He said yes the help keepme warm at night. He said Warm. LOL
+800ntrude that is definitely pretty funny!
What a great lady
I would love to go thrift shopping with her!
Great video...thanks. & Dana was very cool. good ideas!
I wish I could fit my stuff into a van, can go so many more places
Great video and interview Jamie. Gives us hope and encouragement to follow our dreams.
Cheryl
good interview jamie she sounds like shes gonna make it good herd on her shoulders.
Al Gray wow - you need strong shoulders to carry a herd! Lol!
sweet!
Great job. 👍
Great questions Jamie! I'd like to meet up with Dana sometime. We have a lot in common. Capricorn too.
Great tv tip!
Happy trails sister
great video
I wonder where she got her ladder rack for the solar? I have a hightop also. A standard rack won't work, due to the fiberglass top. She almost tells us at just before the twenty minute mark.
Very impressive lady!! pete.
good interview!
Dana thanks for sharing. Excellant video, interview Enigmatic Nomatic for me,a female who travels with a cat. Thanks, Happy travels. My first time to view your channel. Subcribing. Jp
That lady does get some great deals on rv stuff....
glad to hear you say that don't let your illness stop you. in want to live like that again in 4 years. but trying to find a way I can do that being the meds I take. I have 1 Dr I have to visits 1 time a month. so hope in a different state I can get a 3 month fill at one time. this Dr being my pain and what I take nothen major meds. but have to see him or her every month sucks. but I'm gonna start building in the next 2 years. if I can travel fare I'll go as far as I can and come back to my Dr. but I don't want to quit my group which I can take anywere. but to do that I'll have to buy and sale cheap stuff. I'll want my boat. but figure my sale stuff can out in my either pontoon which I want to keep or a bass boat. but I find kids and familys speak to them find out how hard or easy there life is that determines what fishing stuff I bless them with. so every Fri and sat thru the summer give every weekend. so I'm gonna buy all I can now and safe what I can and when my daughter graduates I'm packing up and leaving. so glad to see your out there with your illness. I'll keep you in my prayers. god bless and safe travel.
Good luck heath schwab I'm kinda in the same but do have a way to make a little $$ on road. I'm on pain meds and have to see my doc one a month also I'm hoping there is a way to work around that. I take like 20 pills a day hoping I can get that down some how. I guess where there is a will there is a way! God Bless!
The Nomad Sharpner thanks yea I'm on about 13 I think since this new one. but yea I'm on 2 pain pills was on Artritis meds to but last year found out my kidneys are half gone got stage e kindney disease and gout and anemic and they still don't no where the bloods going. but pray pray pray. but I've got to see that pain Dr. they have to take pee test so they won't give me 3 months at a time. sucks but that's Louisiana. I'm gonna try to get back to Alabama in few years weighting on my daughter to dislike LA as much as me. but in want her happy so I'll stay if I have to. but I'll keep you in my prayers. good luck to you. god bless.
Great tour and interview! I would love to know where in Mesa you got the solar panel Dina (if you're reading this)
One more post for Jamie... I'm in the market to get my van... Can't stoop so standup room is vital. Sprinters are too expensive to maintain...what would you say between the Ford Transit, Nissan NV, and Ram Promaster...all high-tops if course....?
as always, thanks for all your content!
Lauri
Enigmatic Nomadics perfect!!! That really opens my options up!!! Thank you for your time!! Bunches of love till we meet... Lauri
Hi Lauri. I know three people personally that own both the Transit and the NV. I know nothing about the Promaster. I'm not qualified to speak about the finer engine details, but they both seem like solid vehicles. The Transit got stuck a few times in the soft terrain. Probably due to not having positraction/limited slip differential. You can also buy a used van and add a 24" fiberglass top for about $3,000.00. www.fiberine.com/GVMR/Full_Size_Van_Tops.htmlThe most important feature I would want is that whatever you buy, add or
make sure it has a limited slip rear differential. Happy hunting!
Enigmatic Nomadics thanks for the tip on th rear differential..I was clueless..lol..thanks again for all you do..I watched this video twice..
AZ RV Salvage was closed and liquidated, owner retired due to health in 2016.
That's sad. Hopefully somebody steps in to fill the void.
G-Map it's on S 7th ave in Phoenix, the old one was on 27th ave and Lincoln?? I did report the mix up on the status on the closer.. hopefully they'll fix it
Another great interview there Jamie, I almost chocked on my Pepsi there when she said she paid $180 for that brand new Dometic fridge! That is the CF-50, (CF-39 lid opens from the side) (CF-50 lid opens like an ice chest) I bought the same one around a year and a half ago, cost me $580. You can use it as a fridge or a freezer, but not both at the same time.
That Habitat for Humanity is one awesome place to shop, there is one around 10 miles from my house I go to all the time. Lowes, Home Depot and other stores take their displays there and donate them. That place has anything you can imagine and the prices are very good. The one by me is like a warehouse you can spend hours in there.
www.habitat.org/
Dina does kick ass. Her particular microwave is measured in BTU? How many Watts is that? I hate math!
God bless Google: 4.39 Watts = 15 BTU/hr. Damn, she has one crazy low power microwave oven. Talk about a slow cooker. Sorry Dina, your are awesome. Luv ya.
