    So I searched for easy DJ lighting as I am now understanding how important lighting is. Well as most techy things, it can be extremely overwhelming. Especially when budgeted $ attached. So I watched this video and listened very closely to the brands and models up spoke of. Keep in mind that I didn't hear of any of these before now. So I can't tell you enough how this video was important for me. Just yesterday I cashed in a birthday gift from my parents and got the 4 pack pro ADJ Par 56 LEDS. Again, when committing, you want to be sure you are getting the right things. They were easy to set up and for the beginner who just wants to get started, it was easy to link and get in sound mode. I also was able to get into a color changing fade mode. I thought it would take me a long time but I was up and running in 40 minutes top! Today I have 4 moving heads arriving (different brand) but also looked at your other videos with general knowledge about pan & tilt variations. I feel confident that the though process could be similar. Now I have to consider configurations for power & DMX wiring. Oh I also like your videos because they give a more "industry" feel to lighting. See one thing I considered is that I didn't want my lighting to look like DJ party lights. I wanted to be able to convert a space into a club at any time. So I wanted more unison flash, and not a great deal of in your face blinding options. The par washing uplights are perfect for the perimeter of any space, and the moving heads will give that "industry" feel especially in the Pan/Tilt and slave 2 variations. My next purchase will be the Scorpion Laser. I like the idea of it being projected above the audience and not right on them. Thanks so much. I followed your lead and am very happy.

    Not long started out with lighting, and it's good to see where I've started is logical to someone who's time-served in the business. I did cheap out on the moving heads to see what the knock-offs of the Inno Pocket Spot were like (and they're not bad). Stick the PARs and heads with some DMX software though; (I'm using QLC+) and a whole world of possibilities is opened up.

    I guess im gonna buy first a 4 leds bar, then 2 moving heads. I think gives a more interesting efect. Later u may buy par leds dor decoration of space. But for now a 4 leds bar gives more efect and cover a big área. But thanks for your vídeos, they are a good help.

    Brian, love your videos. Do you think the inno pocket roll would work in the same way you have the spots in this video? I don't like to use fog for weddings and I think the rolls would show better without fog. Your thoughts?

      Trustworthy Music DJ Rolls throw a lot of light. I don't use fog very often but I still use moving head spots. They are the most popular, but use whatever you like & works for you

    I REALLY recommend that you start promoting the 5p hex it does so much more! yes its more expensive but between UV parties, sound active, uplighting, and True white not to mention better color mixing. You get a lot more bang for your buck.

    I'm wanting to set up some lights for a small rock show, I'm not looking for anything with a lot of multi-color lighting, but I'd definitely like some solid white beams or strobes that are sound activated, out of these two which do you think would better suit the job?

    Do you need the DMX plugs for these lights to work?
    I'm hosting a small event that this setup would work great.
    Can I just plug this into the wall and have it work? Do you need a DMX controller thing?
    Can I just plug and play?

    • @kd_drumss
      @kd_drumss 8 лет назад +1

      You'll need to use master-slave with a DMX cable, but there isn't need for a controller. You can just select the different modes on the lights and then they should shadow eachother and do the same things at the same time.

    Great vid as usual! However, I am curious about your recommendation to not wash a dance floor. I see it done often in big, high-scale events and weddings. I understand that we're talking about a wedding, and I agree that architectural lighting is definitely a huge statement (and I really like the lighting ideas in your videos), but do you really think that a few wash lights (maybe just one mega bar) pointed at the dance floor is a bad idea? I'd appreciate your thoughts. :)

    • @briansredd
      @briansredd  9 лет назад +1

      Isaac Parks Yeah not a fan of pars, or anything pointed in people's eyes. There is nothing wrong with pointing lights slightly upward on a truss or T-Bar to wash a dance floor. In this video, I just gave what I feel is the easiest way to use pars. No bar, truss, clamps, etc.

    • @briansredd
      @briansredd  9 лет назад +1

      Isaac Parks Also, I didn't say not to wash the dance floor, I just said don't do it by blinding your party guests.

    FYI, those are not PARs, they are Pucks, or LEDs, or RGBWs. Par is only a can, because it stands for Parabolic Aluminium Reflector. also, more of a personal opinion, i like using blinders. it helps to add accenting sometimes, but not overused, i do agree with you on that.

    Nice video, Brian. It'd be cool if you could also tell us your opinion on how many fixtures (and what types) are usually enough to have a professional lightning setup on a regular size venue.
    I suppose there could be "too many fixtures" in the way that it doesn't cool anymore, I'm not counting uplighting fixtures, just the ones next to the dj.
    I have 2 Swarm 5 Fx, 1 Dotz Bar 1.4 placed behind the dj as uplighting, and an LED bar under the table covered with scrim king, I feel that it's enough, but my next move is to upgrade to moving heads on totems, I guess it'd still not be overkill, but what do you think about this topic Brian?

    • @briansredd
      @briansredd  9 лет назад +1

      Juan Carlos Jimenez Rodriguez It's on my to-do list. Basically, what you don't want to do is have effects cancel each other out. So, hit by a truck lighting may cancel out the effect your moving head or moonflower produces.
