    If Kim Jung Gi can admire your art, then you've made it.

    Tradd's style is so psychedelic and funkadelic to me. That 7O's black light poster technique mixed with the lava lamp effect. so unique.

    It's impossible not to admire the level of detail in that work, even though I don't really care for the complete absence of dramatic lighting. But then not all art is about lighting. A lot of art is simply about design or craftsmanship; so what this artist lacks in lighting/shading skill, he makes up for elsewhere. It's not my cup of tea, but I definitely appreciate the talent that goes into it. It definitely has an oriental style of cartooning over an American style (say, like Caniff or Eisner, which I prefer).

    While reading the comic I kind of skimmed through the part when he jumps into the water and the bubbles cover his body, leading to the top of the water AND I feel terrible for doing so.

  • @ManelRuivo

    to me its just obvious the Rafael Grampá influence in designing the page, stretching the narrative, and brush linning.
    Also, in character design i think has a lot from Roger Ibanez (Jazz Maynard). All of them have influence from japanese manga. He just choose well his references and assembled something fresh. obviously, this doesnt explain this level of brush controling. haha... the guys is a monster, no doubt.

      yeah, i know. i just wanted to point it out that his style seem to be "engeneered", you know what i mean? thats not criticizing, if im right about it hes even more amazing, thats no easy feat. everybody theoretically could do it, but really very few can acomplish this!

  • @RichardBirdsall

    Above average artist, but quite a bit of hyperbole in this review. An old school like Dale Eaglesham or even a Mark Bagely does detail far beyond this on almost every single page.

      Dave Gibbons (Watchmen) is a fan of Manga Studio. I don't know why working digitally would be something bad. Of course, traditional art is awesome, but a person is not less talented for working digitally. Jorge Jimenez is a 100%digital artist and his work is one of the best in the industry right now. Even Todd McFarlane is fully digital for years now.

      Spoken like a true SPECTATOR. As an artist myself trained in traditional, I can say with confidence that digital art is STILL ART. It isnt the tool that has talent or Skill, its the Artist himself. I am drawing and writing an independent series, and working in Digitally has enabled me to higher quality work in a shorter amount of time.

    • @VCA12
      @VCA12 5 лет назад

      Incognito Fool which is something to consider too, when working under a schedule you need every possible tool that allows you meet your deadlines without compromising your art. Manga studio, for example, has some tools that allows it to be your OWN work, while reducing time. Being able to set up a composition of panels in seconds without losing time with a ruler trying to be exact in the size of each panel and leaving the same amount of space between each one is a plus. Just as one little example where digital art just reduces the time you spent in a piece so that you can get to the next one. Is a tool to have a better workflow, not to be a hack.
