    Good afternoon, and thank you for doing an awesome job of providing great interviews and content about golf. Heard your show today and wanted to invite you both to come to Columbia, SC, Fort Jackson specifically so that you can see the golf opportunities that are offered on military bases around the world. After spending 22yrs in the Army I was offered chances to play at places like Fort Meade. MD(both courses have been shut down), Fort Leanardwood, MO, Fort Lewis, WA(great 27 holes you'll play in the state of WA, even in Germany there are courses available to play. My golf mentor played against the likes of Orville Moody, and Lee Elder, who were soldiers that played on the PGA tour I understand that it was years ago but there are great places to play. The practice facilities here at Fort Jackson are great!!! Two putting greens...chipping greens...double ended practice range...170-50yard practice range..
    I'll invite you to come to Fort Jackson and play and see for yourself!!!!!

    His thinking behind the golf swing just isn’t logical for me. There is absolutely no way anyone’s body holds up to the way Tiger was swinging when he was 24-25 years old.. And yes.. he started working with Butch before that 97 Masters but the swing in 97 is only fractions of the swing he had in 99-01.. it may be the foundation but it isn’t the same. People forget he didn’t play very well in 98. Different swing toward the end of 99. As for the comment of ‘Michael Jordan changing his foul shot’... or whatever... That’s no where near as complex as a golf swing. However.. Jordan too did leave at least 2 championships on the table when he went and played baseball. That’s much more comparable but why doesn’t he use that argument?? Because Jordan came back and won 3 more. It makes no difference to me. Tiger knee from an early age that his body would not allow any length of a career into his 30s with the swing he had in 2000. Plus, I’m not certain Tiger was comfortable with how much attention he was having to share with Butch Harmon. At the end of the day... players make the swings and hit the shots.. Butch wasn’t pulling off those shots. Granted he molded the best athlete and golfer into a world beater. But even in the Haney years, Tiger was still incredible dominate. In fact.. minus majors tiger won more tournaments than anyone in the 2010s... he missed what? 4 years of that era? And still won more events??? Come on man.. Brandel is looking for attention.. I’m not country music fan, but I remember a song Hank Williams Jr wrote with Waylon Jennings about the music industry: back then they called him crazy.. now days they call him a saint. The ones that called him crazy.. still riding on his name.. This is what Chamblee is about. Period. A reaction. The dude won 1 pga tour event and his highest finish in majors is a t18. To my knowledge he has never coached any successful tour player’s swing either. So why does Tiger care about his opinion? Oh yea.. he doesn’t.. Does Butch or Hank care? Nope. The great Jack Nicklaus? Nope. So why does a golf network have him on? Bc what he says is controversial and it’s going to draw people in on a Wednesday when no one is watching golf news on television. To say Tiger made poor choices in his golf swing is delusional.. after 82 wins and 15 majors????? You tell anyone including a 16 year old tiger woods those numbers will be his final tally and he’s 110% content with it. The only person who isn’t? Brandel Chamblee. Though I’m pretty sure Brandel sells his soul for Tiger Woods’ Numbers and career In the Hank Haney era alone.

    • @hodell82
      @hodell82 4 года назад +3

      I actually agree with Chamblee. Jack's competition in his heyday reads like a who's who of golf - Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, Tom Watson, Seve Ballesteros, Gary Player, etc. To your point, there was a drop off after some years, but Jack had to win most of his majors against guys who were just as capable of winning majors (and did), not just tournaments. Sure, Woods played against bigger fields and a greater number of really good players, but the number of players he competed against that were legitimate threats to win majors was much smaller than Jack's competition. You only need to look at the number of majors won by those players I mentioned - 35 - and that's just those 5 guys. Compare that to the number of majors won by Woods' main threats - Mickelson, Els, Singh, Goosen, Furyk, etc, and it's not even remotely close. Granted, my sole benchmark is majors, but I use that because really good players can win tournaments and even get hot and win a major, but it takes great players to win them consistently. You could make the argument that because the fields that Nicklaus competed against were smaller, he had more chances to win, but the bottom line is he still had to consistently beat guys who were stacking their trophy cases as well. I just don't see guys like Goosen and Els comparing favorably to the Watsons and Palmers of the world. In my opinion, it's the difference between swimming in water surrounded by 50 nurse and lemon sharks, versus swimming in water surrounded by a handful of great whites, makos, hammerheads, and bulls.

    • @Legitgolfbros

      hodell82 the reason that those guys won so many majors was because there was really only 15-20 guys that could actually win majors when in today’s game there are legitimately 100-200 guys that could win a major. That’s why less people win 5+ majors and a lot of today’s greats only have 1-2 like DJ, J rose, Sergio, Justin Thomas, Stenson, Webb Simpson, bubba, molinari, Zach Johnson, etc. If Rory and koepka don’t win as many majors as Trevino or seve that means they weren’t as good? Faldo admits most of these guys are better then he ever was. Another reason that the 90-00 generation didn’t win many majors was because tiger fucking woods was winning 30% of majors for an 11 year clip. the fields are a zillion times deeper today because golf, like all sports, evolves.

    I would make the argument that when you look at Jack's win % vs his field and that field having better respective win % than that of Tiger's biggest competitors, well Tiger's competitors weren't able to achieve higher win % because Tiger was so dominant, winning all the events that would of boosted their wins if he wasn't there. He is the greatest of all time, if you do want to compare eras...

The only thing I really disliked from him was his statement a few years ago when he called Tiger the biggest cheater. That was just trying to stir the pot. A totally unfair statement considering how many cameras are on Tiger at ALL times. Regarding Bryson, he may have increased his yardage by bulking up but if you watch him now, he is swinging so hard and almost coming out of his shoes. This will cause an injury.

When he is called out every now and then, he says he has valid arguments to back. Those valid arguments may have the ring of truth, but only from his prospective. And when he makes such a ludicrous statement that goes even beyond himself, he'll complain that he is being ganged up on and claim he is only doing his job. Such a cop out if yu ask me.

During Jack's era, after Watson, Casper, Palmer, Player, Trevino, the falloff was pretty drastic. Tiger was simply far ahead of the rest of the field.

    Just stop watching golf on CBS until Brandel is removed. I did. The most constructive way is to inform CBS & its sponsors he’s too negative & combative to speak to against International Golf fans & pro golfers who love golf & support the game everywhere. Why isn’t CBS covering international tours also?

    I love Brandel but the argument for the winning percentage of Tigers opponents vs Jacks is flawed. Ernie, Phil, and Vijay had such low percentages relatively speaking because Tiger won so often. Not to mention the deepness of the fields now

      @williamtaylor5193 4 года назад

      no. Tiger DIDN"T win 78% of the time which left a lot of opportunities for Phil, Ernie and Tiger to win more. They didn't because the overall depth of talent on tour was stronger than in Jack's era.

    This interview was great for me because it showed a side of Brandel that I've never seen. It changed my point of view of him and it should for others also.

    Just a comment that prob will never get read! But Brandel's excuse for being the most negative critic I have ever seen in any sport is that he only study's the data??? The only thing that guy does is selectively pick the data that fits whatever negative narrative theory he pulls out of his ass that particular day. His comparisons or perceived slights that he experienced as a young player makes him seem petty and disgruntled. I don't mind critical commentary and the best players in the world...and yes Brandel...you can be very critical without coming across as a negative asshat!

    45:46 not factual - BC has blocked half of golf twitter, many of whom just respectfully disagreeing with some of his views. Dissenting opinion will not be tolerated.

    He's a smart, entertaining commentator who's angry side clouds his judgement. Then you team him up with Rich Lerner who's mediocre on his best days it creates a B grade broadcast.

    So Tiger has the highest winning percentage but for Chamblee since that negates his belief that Tiger isn't the best he discredits it, Tiger has the cut record but he discredits THAT buy saying Hogan had a better one...Tiger wins 4 majors in a row and he discredits that by saying well Bobby Jones won 4 in a calendar year and Tiger did NOT! he just cannot stand Tiger and he just will not admit he is the best!

    i have high regard for Brandel, but he also "borrows" a lot of his "ideas" as passes it along as his work- check out Wayne D

      I don’t think he considers it his work he’s just one of the few surrounding golf who choose to use outside ideologies to measure or educate people about their game and the game itself so they can better understand it. Brandel is very well spoken I use to not like him very much but I have a little newfound respect I guess
