- Mainz is a great ship I've recommended since its release. However, dealing with Okinawa in a T8 Cruiser is a very rough experience, especially if you get the south spawn. My build can be found at the end as usual.

What is it with BB players being either too afraid to get their paint scratched or just yolo-suiciding into the enemy. Whatever happened to the middle ground?

Amen to this. Lots of 'non combatants' in random battles these days.
I noticed this exact same thing today. So many BB drivers who are affraid of taking and causing damage. I was trying to be on the front lines with mine, helping the cruisers not to die, but no. Way too many losses where the BB's of ours were the last ones alive with nearly full health, losing on points.
Honestly though, i think it's people with intense anxiety issues that do this, it's got to be the only reasonable explanation. However that is no excuse. This is a competitive game, if you want something casual that is what co-op is for. and anyone else that aren't suffering from some sort of mental issue as such are dumb and shouldn't play anything else then co-op
It's not only the bbs, nearly all Tier X games these days are like this. Either way they die in the first 5 minutes or play way to safe.
I'd like to say it's he spam, but they play like this even without the he spam ships in a match. I am working towards Slava so I can play BB in this stupid "potato meta" without feeling like an idiot.

rooster is still "something", imagine when you play in a Konigsberg or omaha like this, then an enemy T7 BB that you 100-0 starts "fight me in the open, coward" =)))
The only reason I ever say that to people is to try and get them to come out. It works very rarely, but it's worth a try lol

I hate battleship players like these. They are the "I want to have my cake and eat it too" type of players. They want to hide like a cruiser, but they also want the armor of a battleship. They want every convenience, but they don't really want to apply it for anything useful. They want to win the game, but they don't want to do the heavy lifting - even though they are playing tankiest most capable ships on the map.
@@PropaneWP ship happens. It is the judgement of players when to hold and when to attack properly with a BB. In this battle, with these tiers, the BB players should know already how to play the BB correctly.

Yep, yet another promise like there will never be subs in WoWs; 460mm guns will be the biggest in the game; and so on and on.
Replays are being overhauled next patch
They never promised not to make guns bigger than 460 mm. The statement that that myth comes from simply says that they didnt have any plans for it at the time.

12:00 For what it's worth, I see at least once per week someone in chat saying (as far as I can tell, seriously) something like "I'm keeping my ship alive through the end of the match to save on repair costs." Since that was changed *years* ago, apparently a lot of people somehow haven't noticed. Maybe WG should just hammer into these morons' heads that "No, saving your HP to the end of the match does NOTHING."

Edit: That is... the most heartbreaking defeat I've seen in quite a long time. They say there's no I in team but that's implying you're not playing World of Warships and World of Tanks...
In WG titles, the "I" in team stands for "Idiot" and you're frequently surrounded by them.
this is personally the most difficult map in the game, if I want some cover I need to get close to the cap, and with planes spotting me before I reach the cover, usually lost half hp is lost to gain cover, unless I am a DD.
This match sums the state of the game up pretty well these days.

I'm still kind of new to the game (less than 400 battles played) and I have almost exclusively played BBs so far. Lately I tried to branch out into Cruiser play, but I find that very hard, next to impossible, to be honest. Every time I try to do the "hide behind an island"-thing, the result is that I get eaten by CVs, especially at tier 4 and 5.
I even use the engine module to accelerate away as good as possible, when I get attacked behind an island, but it doesn't help much. Dodging air dropped torpedoes is hard enough when you are at full speed in open waters, when you are sitting behind an island, it seems almost pointless to even try.

As harsh as it is, thanks for the pointers man, fresh to the game and started with British bb line. I tend to prioritize my own survival over the game, and then I blame my team for being crap, if I'm the sole survivor/last to sink.

I love Okinawa, not the wows map, the place, I lived there for 3 years and loved every minute
Thanks for showing this game: at least I know my bad win rate is not just my fault: I'm grinding the Roon and have like 20% win rate despite having over 92K average damage in the ship and almost always in the top 3. Now I feel depressed but less so.
This is why I prefer to play BB lately: Cruisers support and deal damage, but unless your BBs and DDs actually commits into winning the battle, there is very little you can do to carry the game. With all the high calibre guns in game, a single BB salvo is sufficient to cripple you and send you home prematurely. You can prey on low health targets and send enemies for cover, but without spotting and someone willing to tank for you and capitalize on you weakening the enemy fleet, the game is lost and all that remain to do is farm damage for yourself.
Speaking of Okinawa, is there a sign on one of the islands saying 'Yamato, beach here like you did in WWII'? XD

I really like the Mainz. I got it from a Container and I am so happy with it. I really like sitting at mid to long ranges in a kiting position and farming BBs... and of course hunting DDs during late game

I am so happy I stopped playing. Watching you still brings the nice moments this game has to offer, but the heart wrenching stress of carrying hard, but not enough is nowhere near as bad.

Most teams aren't lucky enough to have a player of your caliber, most teams would have missed out on the DD at 14:39 and it would have been game over. Good job on making it as close you did, excellent video showing why you should never give up with relatively even numbers.

If that Mass had gotten into A in an even vaguely timely manner, he prevents an enemy points tick and you win. The potatoes are throwing more subtly these days.
What a game, those Soyuz and Thunderer players would be out of their depth in a puddle.
To be fair to those BBs.. All DDs donate their life early game could also be a reason why those BBs don't want to push.. however yesterday, I did see a Thunder lost his full HP to a super narrow snipe torp volley from a Daring on OPEN WATER, not even an ambush.. with none of the other BB looking at his board side.. he was just sailing straight and eat the torp. Orz.. Which makes me mind boggling. I guess WG's idea of selling T10 ships must be a huge success in finance..

My PR/Winrate is insane on that beast (70+%winrate and almost 3k PR over like 40-50battles , it's just amazing to play. Would recommend

The only reason that I sail around the A island in Okinawa is to get crossfire in yamato. And even then, it's only doable if the dd is killed quickly or else I'm not gonna be able to hold that crossfire without the insane risk of getting torp rushed by a shima.
The point of this is to either have them turn to me and show broadside to my team or let them keep showing broadside to me. Otherwise, I'd just sit in mid and bow tank HE shells for 10 minutes

This was my ranked experience. Not unicum, just 1 or 2 kills, 90 to 160k damage, all my DD smokes dropped for teammates, and it never seems to matter. The better I do, the worse my teammates are.
Good game by Flamu, but a lot of luck too not to have gotten blapped.

I'm a veteran of this game from 2015 with 71% global win rate.
People with sub-50% win rate and red PR try to teach me how to play all the time.
Hopeless.
They really need two seperate matchmaking - one for above 50% and one for below 50%
@@Donut-zw2bb TL;DR? Minimum performance standards for tier advancement is the only way to affect general gameplay quality. WG will never do it because their ONLY focus is making money, and the only things they address are things that get in the way of doing so. Restricting crap players from rushing up tiers or buying premiums they have no idea how to play is the LAST thing WG will ever care about. They are a lowest common denominator outfit, solely interested in gameplay QUANTITY. Quality is only of interest if they do something SO stupid vast numbers scream about it and potentially reduce the spending in the game, and even then they ignore most of those. Sad but true.

While I understand the sentiment, the trouble is that ultimately wouldn't achieve what you think it would. The short version as to why is that if you put >50% players together, they'll gradually push their average towards 50% as they won't have as many sub-50% players to defeat. At the same time, the 50% group might decide it would be better to go out and lose a bunch of games so they fall back into the

But it doesn't work. If you make two matchmakings based on winrate, bad players will play vs bad players which will increase their winrate (they play vs worst people) and good players will play vs good players which will decrease their winrate (they play vs better people). Bad players will go up, good players will go down; both player types will go towards the same winrate. At this point, your matchmaker does not work anymore and turns into a random matchmaker (like right now).

This patch has also reduced the size of Manfred bomber reticle which made it even more op and more consistent at citadeling BBs
Is it mee or are the german reticles are really hard to see when you play as CV? The reticle color perfectly matches the color of the water and I cant see shit

Nice game. Sorry for the loss. I got the Mainz about a week ago based off your reviews, and I love it. It is like a T8 Atlanta imo. I was wondering how you get the Hydro Mod for slot 2? I don't have access to it... Also, I run rudder shift instead of concealment bc of Mainz good use of islands. It seems to work fine for me that way.
While i dont play wows anymore, the Mainz really does look fun and right up my valley, if i was still playing.

I feel the same about the game lately. I see myself geting more frustrated than enjoying the game because of the poor play I'm witnessing every day. Not everyone is a Unicum but this kinda behaviour is so much more present on T10 than it should be. I exclusively played Anno 1800 in the past few days and I had a blast, a feeling which I didn't had in warships in a long time.
At SEA server, no one pushing all of them just sit in the back and snipe and if their DD die, they just turn away and run. This is very annoying when I play Baltimore, most of the time i have to do open water gunboat

Why does every enemy bb instantly extinguish one fire when flamu is shooting at them?
Flamu has a special commander perk that forces the enemy to auto-DCP
Would it be possible for you to do an Atago guide? I struggle with knowing when to open fire and when to let the concealment reset.
you play the Atago like any other IJN cruiser. hide behind island and set things on fire. Never fight in open waters or full broadside because your citadel is as large as a city block. Ide recommend playing the Myoko if you have access to it, same play style but much more durable since you'll be playing mostly 7-8 games. Mogami has a different play style depending on guns, the 155mm is more of a stealth assassin/dd hunting, whereas the 203mm like in the myoko/atago are for ranged firestorms. The atago is quite forgiving with a full concealment build, having a spotting range of under 10km? (9.8km i think?), so its an effective kiter and assassin if you want to get close to blap cruisers or lightly armoured ships. carry hydro instead of AA.
That Thunderer player should be banned from high tiers until he figures out what the hell he's doing

Somehow Wargaming managing to pack all the potatoes in one team, and all the decent players in the other team 7/10 matches. The result is one: The games are lost or won within the first 5 minutes, then it's just a waste of time.

Mainz is fine without one, as I fear it would make her even more powerful than she is now. Giving her the ability to restore some of the HP she lost would be too much

Ever since WG made it possible to grind up to T10 in an afternoon, top tier gameplay has become a cesspool filled with smug potatoes bobbing in the scum at the surface. With narcistic assholes in CV's seal-clubbing the low/mid tiers, this is unlikely to change.

I am a very average (49%) player, and I too have a Thunderer. But I've never lost a game in her where I didn't get killed first! I truly don't understand why people even play when they basically refuse to engage. I'm not saying I'm reckless (I used to be) but damn, it seems to me you here to fight?
the one that this game needs to fix is the matchmaking system. look at those esport titles like dota even on unranked normal matches they still get sorted based on your skill bracket its so frustrating when RNGsus hates you and gives you like almost all your teammates arent aware of what they are playing.
