I bought Penn fathom 2 30LWLH in October 2019. During the second disassembly, I saw broken metal at the screw attachment points. There have never been such problems on any of their reels. I always serve them myself and could not create such an effort. The quality of the metal is at the level of the cheapest silumin. Wrote to Penn - no answer. This is the quality of products and the quality of work with the client.
While you are still in the warranty period [1 year], suggest you go to the PENN site and follow the instructions for returning reels for repair. If you are not in the USA, there are different instructions/destinations for UK/Europe, which are found at a different site.
Did Penn discontinue the fathom 2 line counter reels? I was about to buy one b4 the season starts..if discontinued is a new line counter reel coming out?

If they are sized like the rest they'll hold roughly 300 yards of 30 pound mono for the 30 size and 50 pound for the 50 size. Would that be about right?
Just ordered a first generation 25 left hand for less than a hundred bucks on clearance what a steal.. I could give a rats behind what hand I reel with. LOL
In general. level-wind reels are not the ideal choice for "jigging style" presentations. A more suitable choice would be one of the Fathom "non-levelwind" or "lever drag" models.
Yes. PENN's current "Made in USA" reel lineup is: all International VI lever drags, all Torque lever drags, all U.S. Senator star drags, all "Z" series spinning reels, 12/0 & 14/0 regular Senators, all Torque II spinning reels.
No, these reels are made offshore; it is the only way to get that many features at that price. Anglers looking for "Made in USA" models in the PENN lineup should check out all International VI lever drags, all Torque lever drags, all U.S. Senator star drags, all "Z" series spinning reels, 12/0 & 14/0 regular Senators, all Torque II spinning reels, and all Torque star drags.

What is the max drag on the 50
Hey Ferda,
The PENN Fathom II Level Wind 50 size reel has a maximum drag of 30lbs from our HT-100 Carbon Drag system. Check out all the specifications and details on our website here:
www.pennfishing.com/collections/conventional-reels/products/fathom-ii-level-wind-1454459
can i use this for surf fishing ? because i not good use reel without guide line.
Yes, absolutely
Suitable for wire line trolling? Will the wire dig into the line guide for the level wind?
Aluminum spools are generally not compatible with wire line. PENN makes the model 113H2SP specifically for wire line use.

Interesting ! What about FTH SD II
Awesome , thank you
friend: penn fathom 15 II is larger in size than the old fathom 15?
same size.
Whats the line capacity of the 30 and 50? The Fathom LW's is my favorite Penn reel line.
Full specs will be shown at the formal debut at ICAST Show next week.
size 30 holds 600/65 braid, and size 50 holds 770/80 braid.
If they are sized like the rest they'll hold roughly 300 yards of 30 pound mono for the 30 size and 50 pound for the 50 size. Would that be about right?
Does the 15 size have the bait clicker too?
Yes, it does have a clicker.
Just ordered a first generation 25 left hand for less than a hundred bucks on clearance what a steal..

Would you recomend this for a jigging rod?
In general. level-wind reels are not the ideal choice for "jigging style" presentations. A more suitable choice would be one of the Fathom "non-levelwind" or "lever drag" models.
Does the levelwind disengage when casting?
No.
Which size would be equivalent to a Shimano Tekota 600LC?
Hey, Cody. The closest size equivalent would be the FTHII20LWLC. You can get it at your fishing tackle retailer or on our website: bit.ly/2QIlzby
Thanks!

Hey, Toni. These should be available at your local fishing tackle shop- we recommend calling first to ensure the product is in-stock.

I guess they don’t care about the west coast guys anymore (surface iron). Smh. We love our non level wind reels.
The Fathom "non-levelwind" FTH25N and FTH30 star drag models are awesome surface iron reels.
tunanorth I know this is late but does the FTH25N come in a left hand version or is that only for the level wind reels
