U-Matic tape containing footage shot of end of the rally in Kennedy Square in celebration of the Detroit Tigers 1984 World Series victory. The recording is continued from tape 2015.008.101. Radio personality Dick Purtan acts as the rally's master of ceremonies. From a position east of the stage, the camera pans and zooms to capture both the crowd, and the people on stage during the rally. Afterward the focus turns to the revelers in Campus Martius following the event. The footage cuts several times.
When the tape begins, Purtan has just introduced Lance Parrish. Parrish addresses the crowd while holding one of his children, however he is difficult to hear. The camera zooms onto Mayor Coleman A. Young, who gives the crowd a thumbs-up with his be-gloved hand. The camera remains on him as he shakes hands while the band below plays the "Bless You Boys" song. Purtan briefly takes the microphone again to acknowledge Milt Wilcox, whom he overlooked earlier. The camera then pans down from the stage to film fans who are waving pennants and t-shirts at the camera.
After a cut, the camera is then trained on the Michigan Soliders' and Sailors' Monument. Not only do spectators surround its base, but several people are perched atop the ledges and statues on its upper tiers. The camera then captures the ticker tape stuck to the facade of the First National Building, and people milling about the ticker tape covered streets below. In the final shots four women cheer to the camera while holding a pennant.
The video are on a 3M MBU-18 U-Matic S tape, with a City of Detroit Department of Public Information Video Production label on its top. The tape is housed within a black plastic latching case.
