@@Rocadog she is great when the pandemic hit a lot of people got Dogs for companionship I guess and then got tired of her she was in Tn and made it all the way to Dc where I saw her and had to get her.
I had a yellow lab who was the best dog I have ever had, he followed me every where including mowing the yard. He would constantly place his ball in front of the mower so I would throw it. He walk with me to the day he fell over died at 16yrs God knows I missed that great hound
16 years is a very long time. I imagine the bond was very strong. I'm sorry but I'm happy the dog brought you 16 years of happiness and I'm sure you gave that pup a fantastic life which is why you got 16 years.
so sorry to hear your story. you must have taken excellent care for him to last for 16 years only solution is to get another one so hard to do but you need one
My Kelly was my first and only dog I have ever owned. She was such a wonderful friend to my kids and I. I’ve always wanted a chocolate Labrador so when my children were old enough that’s when I decided it was time to get one. Little that I knew, she came into our life and magic happened to my children but mostly to myself. She passed two years ago at the age of 11 and a half years old and I miss her like crazy, every day… I’m not ready to get another one and frankly I’m not sure I will ever be. Kelly was and is the best dog in the world!
I was wanting a dog that doesn't shed but that limit's me to dogs I don't really want. I'm looking for a companion dog that can do well indoors and like to play. I am looking at Pugs and Labs. Also I really like the King Charles Spaniel. Also maybe a labradoodle?
@@TheFacelessMan82 Depends on what tape of lab you want. A field bred one needs a lot of exercise so you better have a big yard. A bench bred one also needs quite a lot of exercise but it doesn't take much to tire them out and they will be chill for the rest of the day. I wouldn't get any more type of doodle since they are generally poorly bred and have a ton of health problems and behavior issues. You would have to find a very good breeder and the puppy would cost a fortune.
Don’t want to compare all the dogs I have had. Yet, I currently have a lab and he really is the best in many ways. I love all the fur babies I have had but right now I am loving my lab. ❤
I am Labrador Retriever owner, my first Labrador Retriever (Chocolate) was a female, pure breed, excellent health and deceased at the age of 16 years old. My second Labrador Retriever (Chocolate) is a male with hip issues and 2 1/2 year old. I am getting my third Labrador Retriever (Yellow) next week, he is a male and 8 weeks old. I choose Labrador Retriever, because they are hard working, athletic, eager to please and good hunting waterfowl dog.
Best Dog Ever, well almost? Mine awakens me in the morning, tells me when time to Eat and puts me to bed at night. He loves to retrieve and knows when it's time to go walking or play. I've owned several generations all were male.
I just love Labradors. On May 10th I had to put down my chocolate Lab Mocha due to a burst tumor at age 11. That leaves us with our Silver Lab RyLee who will turn 3 years old in September. Over the years we have only had chocolate Labs. Tessa was one of our favorite Labs who was sent to the Rainbow Bridge due to glaucoma. We have only had chocolate Labs, they are my favorite color. All in all we have had 6 chocolate Labs and would not go with another color.
We are the happy loving parents of our third Lab and real yellow cutie named Champ. They'll walk all over you with their cute faces and cunning ways. Obviously we are huge fans. Ours is still a youngster at almost three.
I have owned many dogs, and never bought one. They always found me, maybe it was because the flashing sign on my forehead that says "Sucker". I had two labs of all the dogs I have owned these were the best all around dog. One I had for almost 13 years he passed last year and is greatly missed. I do see another one in my future.
I would love to, it is impressive dog, but i can not find any owners or breeders sadly who would provide me some in depth info and photos of the breed.
The food drive can be intense. I put my 8 year old female on a diet and then I kept finding rabbit and bird remains in the yard. If she could run down those I don't think she need to be on a diet.
Just be patient, he will stop doing it soon (few months at most). During this puppy life period, just do not encourage the behaviour (when he starts it, dont play with him, do not praise him etc.. The best thing you can do is to ignore him, but i know its not always possible :-D) On the other hand, do not punish him. It is still a puppy and it is normal behaviour for almost all Labrador pups. But dont worry, very soon he will become very gentle mouth dog, just like all the Labs.
Simple. Food, food , food, food, food, food and food. My silver is a perfect 80 lb Food and praise Food and praise Simple breed. Just food and tell him he is a good boy
I have a chocolate lab and he bit goofy but he’s 14 and he’s starting to get more and more tired but he’s reaching the end of his days with fat tumors a cyst on his right eye and arthritis
My female chocolate lab simply cannot put on weight. She loses interest in food before that can happen. On the other hand, her black daughter can't get enough food, and it's hard for me to try to trim her down.
