As a bladesmith myself, I love watching different folks’ processes for making their blades. That said, it’s no wonder so many knives from the Middle East break…no cleaning of the metals prior to forge welds; no proper heat treat; structural weak points in the shank behind the guard where the post was TIG welded in; etc.
It’s a very nice LOOKING knife, but it wouldn’t stand up to heavy use. Nonetheless, cool video.

I just got mine in the mail from Punjab and it's beautiful. It's nice to live in the twenty-first century because getting one of these knives in the 1980s would have been incredibly difficult and 100 years ago would have taken a trip around the world.

Looks like a nice product, but for the integrity of the knife, I would make a full length tang. Keep that blade and handle together a lot longer.
I own one of these pakistani knives, it's very nice with blade, handguard and pommel made of damascus, black horn handle. It's not for very hard use, of course. But it's plenty strong and sharp for normal knife use.

Yeah man i feel that. But bro me and you can throw away billets and not care. They need every inch to survive. Proly for tourist anyway. Bet they could make a functional knife as well.

The welded shank seriously compromises the strength of the part ... They should make the cutting edge and shank in one piece. I would never buy a knife made that way
I have bought thousands of them and sold them for a very nice profit. Others have done the same. I'm not aware of a single one of them breaking at the tang or anywhere else. I'm sure if you misused it as a hammer or pry bar, you could probably get it to break somewhere. They're definitely not Japanese quality but they also don't have the high cost of Japanese steel. To each their own, I'll just keep making money with them.

For some odd reason as I look to see in my mind what it reminds me of. It takes a tough man to make a tender chicken. Does that make sense? I don't know what it would be like to work that hard all day.

I disagree with a lot of people here. The welded tang itself isn't necessarily a weak point in my opinion. The tang doesn't really need to be hardened like the blade. If they're using a softer metal like iron for example, it has enough give that in can absorb shock without snapping off from the blade. A full tang is definitely stronger but I don't see why a welded on tang can't be more than adequate if done right.

This is only "amazing" and "beautiful" to people who have absolutely no idea what they are looking at.
The skill and craftsmanship is there. I wonder if they would get a western blade smith there to consult them on proper cleaning, heat treat and blade shapes, that they could make proper knives.

People saying they have limited resources ? They have all Machinery possible there. They can’t make a full tang or a rat tail correctly ? The blade is done perfect all to ruin it with a tac welded soft steel retail? One good hit and that thing will snap ….such a waste !!!
