    I couldn’t believe I found this last night. It made me cry so much. This is absolutely the best kids story ever created. Everything from the funny toy soldiers, to the fairy bringing the bunny to life. I’m in my 30s and have not seen this since I was 2 or 3. And Christopher Plummer was the perfect pick for a narrator. This is still to this day the best thing I have ever seen.

Sometimes the tape would get stuck on my VCR and I and my grandmother would drive over to Montgomery Ward for the technicians to fix it. I enjoyed this film very much. I used to get scared of narrator’s description of the older toys being locked away and forgotten. There’s many other versions of this tale, but this one is the best ever. I have a stuff orca name waawaa (had her since I was 13 and still own her)... and she helped me during the worse time of my life. I was very sick with a deadly parasite (I was very close to losing half of my right leg) and she kept me comfortable while in hospital. The ending of the book was a bit better then the one here. The boy is actually able to observe the rabbit in the wild, while here it downright ditches the boy. Like come on this boy was the main source of your happiness, and this is how you treat him. I do understand that now that he is fully alive, and that he has a new beginning, but it felt a bit out of place especially when watching this as a kid.

    • @Mattrino101
      @Mattrino101 Год назад +1

      After re-watching this the other day for the first time in probably 25-30 years, I was wondering about this. Is the implication here that the rabbit's memory of the little boy and being a toy has been wiped? He's acting the way a real rabbit would in that situation. And the ending does say that only the Skin Horse knew the truth. It seems like the original story is saying that the rabbit was aware of his past and wanted to see the boy again one last time.

    • @swissspinodroid7572
      @swissspinodroid7572 Год назад +1

      @@Mattrino101 there was a version that was made that same year that had won a few awards. That ending was better as the boy sees the rabbit for one last time, and the rabbit says one last goodbye, and a thanks before leaving off into the wilderness.

    Throughout my life I’ve always remembered this horrible traumatic story of a little kids rabbit getting burned in a fire because they got sick.
    For my entire life anytime I saw a fireplace I would think of this story. Only this week did someone mention the story’s name in passing while talking about bojack horseman. Leading me down the rabbit hole of finding the exact version of the story I saw as a kid.
    Now I find myself here. Rewatching the very piece of media that spawned this memory. The rabbit was never burned, but it was the first time I had ever imagined something “dying” and that stuck with me.
    I’m glad this video has a comment section, it’s a pleasure reading these. ❤

    When youre a grown ass man and start crying from a children story you watched/read growing up. Also I got a stuffed rabbit when I was a newborn that i loved on like in the story. Still have it in the house.

    I haven't watched this movie in a long time and just the pure nostalgia, the horse, the soldiers, the train, the tank, everything, and I seen the other versions but this is the best one

    You can just tell the animation for this cartoon was outsourced in South Korea it has a very Anime (esque) feeling to it. It reminds me a lot of that one re-telling of the 3 Little Pigs which was animated using Traditional Japanese Hand Drawn animation the kind you'd see from stuff like Speed Racer and Astro Boy very old school 60's style anime technique to tell a modern western tale.

    I had this on VHS a long time ago. Unfortunately, our VCRs stopped working and we gave away most of the VHS's. We finished giving away our VHS Tapes just last week. I miss the old technology. Those were the good old days. I feel the nostalgia.

    I remember my mom renting me a lot of VHS tapes based on children books. Harold and the Purple Crayon being one of them. Me and my mom would spend time watching them. This movie she bought for me, and it came with a rabbit from the movie, which sadly was lost in a move. I came here because I wanted to remember. My mom is still around but our relationship isn't as close anymore, I think my lack of children compared to my sister is a reason. I miss being a kid. But I love my mom and always will, but sometimes it can be lonely. This movie is a nice memory.
