There is a study about staying in a blue room makes people feels time goes slowly... It's goes so well with the game's theme
oh that actualy makes so much sense
Holy shit
That’s some nice attention to detail.
This study was done with recovering drug addicts because in blue or purple lighting you can't see your veins so you don't know where to inject drugs into yourself. With Katana Zero's story it makes this song more emotional.
@@HamHamPangPangCustomer name of the study?
The whole cathedral scene makes you tear up. Zero is really given humanity here
the story wouldn't be the same without the cathedral scene
Up to that point he’s barely shown himself capable of anything beyond hacking his enemies to pieces... then it is shown to us that he keeps doing it because it’s all he knows.. it’s the only way he can be sure he isn’t stuck in his own mind

Didn’t expect an indie game to touch my soul like that. I mean it happened before, but it hadn’t happened in a long time. Such a powerful way of telling a story, a masterful mixture of gameplay, atmosphere, rhythm, a true show don’t tell story. The more you understand about Zero the more you feel sorry for him even though you shouldn’t. A great antihero.
Faick LOG god, I haven’t thought about worrying for him... guess we will have to see in the end, right?
He's more of a menace
Just because you don't want to remember or forget or try to find some way of burying you past...
doesn't qualify for you to get a new one.
He fought a war where he killed soldiers, burned villages, massacred peasants and children
I agree. The last game to get me this emotionally invested was pokemon mystery dungeon
Good sir, i recommend to you, OneShot. Its on steam for about 10 bucks or so.
Ah, but what if it wasn't a conscience or consenting choice? He was raised according to Lee and the therapist to use the drug. I get the feeling that he wasn't happy doing what he was forced to, and he may have been at least 15, if not younger at the time. And what we've seen through fifteen and the female null is that nobody is happy with becoming addicted to chronos. Not to mention that zero and the female have the side effect of becoming saddictic in their killing. You have to feel bad for all of them, there's a reason they all want revenge.
This song... I don’t know how to describe it. There’s something so beautiful about it. How it’s so idyllic, yet filled with melancholy. It’s beautiful. It makes me want to climb up to the top of a building, look across a neon city, and smoke a cigarette as I lean against the railing.
This song, mixed with the scene from the game, just made me break out in tears. it's really a masterpiece.
Thank you mate. Idyllic is now my favourite word.
It's the kind of song that plays when your time is up... and that day will come.
It makes me sick to think about honestly, but this song reminds me that as bad as life can be, it's still beautiful, and we'll miss it.

Don't know why, but these words have so much power in this one scene.
Yeah they really does
"Twenty-eight years in that godforsaken jungle."
"It's only been a week, but it feels like a year."
These two lines imply that the NULL soldiers actually only spent a little over half a year in the jungle.
Wait... I don't understand...
How could it be half a year? He says Tewnty eight years, and at the same time he says that it's only been a week.
I beg you, could you explain?
@@DarkJusn2020 1 week=1 year. So 28 years are actually 28 weeks? I guess that's what planterbox meant. I think if New Mecca would have NULL soldiers from the beginning they would win?
@@DarkJusn2020 zero's perception of time is completely fucked thanks to chronos, what in real time can be a raid that lasts half an hour for zero can be 3 or 4 days of attempts

Twenty-eight years in that godforsaken jungle.
Killing soldiers wasn't so bad. I hardly remember it.
But burning those villages, watching those naked peasants cry...
I see it every day. It's not PTSD, it's the drug.
It's only been a week, but it feels like a year.
Every word is getting longer, the mosquitoes are getting louder.
When the drug runs out, time stops, and you're stuck in the jungle forever.

-684 DAYS REMAIN
One of the most impactful parts of the game for me, right there ;)
Say what you will about Katana Zero. But the storytelling, the way characters are written, the way that all the respawns and deaths in the combat for nothing are written into the plot. The way that the game forcefully makes you both Love and Hate the main character. How dialogue is written, how impactful it seems... It's a masterpiece among other indie games. One that I'll never forget.
@@tracker7059 Hyper Light Drifter, Hotline Miami, Katana Zero... They are eternal.
This is probably the Dragon that's talking, now that I think about it.
I have a theory, but I think this will be Zero's dying monologue to Fifteen. I think he'll go on one final Spike Spiegel-esqe killing spree against the ones reviving NULL/Chronos and die in a blaze of glory just as his chronos runs out. Think about it. Once he realizes the "little girl" isn't real or dies he's going to probably snap.

i would call it a murder but yeah pretty much
But he can never be too late fot his date with Death

Might be late for that date, this whole game might just be one really long precognition by Zero

I honestly love the section this song plays in. Everything about it just feels so raw. Like something candid that came to you straight from Zero's heart. Even though Zero is basically a pretty terrible person. There's something about when someone connects with you on a very human level that gets me every time.
Zero's not that bad of a person, truthfully he can be a good lad when he wants but with the government jangling keys to his way of life above his head and telling him to kill..
Not like he has a choice, does he?
I actually believe that the girl is the conscious of Zero, that's the reason why Zero is take care of her that much
@@boredomisinfinity5642 The answer to "is zero a bad guy" changes with your decisions. In my game it ended up being a savage that indeed enjoyed killing because that's the only way he feels closer to death (Don't ask me what did I had to do to get that result, I tried to run with the answers that I thought made him a "good guy").
In any case Zero finds his breaking point in his interaction with the girl and the other nulls.
@@stopgont7360 The only way to avoid killing the vet is to kill everyone in the prison. Those two cases are the only optional kills in the game, unless you count using a projectile to kill the guy at the end of Murdower Hotel.

Having ptsd myself... running out from my addict parents... dealing the drugs out to kee the electrical and internet going just one more month... the constant insecurity of police, coming in and taking everything you know away... I didn’t realize I was living a hell. Until CPS took me away, from everything... then, I was sick, PTSD running in my head like a god damn cancer... eating me whole. Becoming a husk of myself...
until this, this game... this may sound stupid, or cringe but, * This game showed me the light that I never saw through. It opened a door of understanding and to know you’re not the only one who is lost, or sick.* And to understand how PTSD is from another persons perspective...
I know he says “it’s not the ptsd, it’s the drugs”. The point is he still suffers from it. You see it every time he goes to sleep. You see it through how he wants to girl, to be fine. To find a better life. As a whole, this game has shown me a lot, and from that I grew...
I will forever cherish this game, it’s, made me who I am today.
Great story
I went into the story thinking I would be a badass samurai with time powers, I came out of the story with a new perspective on PTSD and mental trauma. This game is one of the few which actually lets you do the thinking for once, since Zero is an unreliable narrator, and someone who cannot escape nightmares of his own making.
This honestly scared the shit out of me - seriously man. I’m just glad you’re hopefully doing better now than you were before.
Hey, bro, I literally don’t know you, but you deserve a lot more than you think
stay awesome
Honestly, this game is beyond beautiful. and that's a first a game has made me felt this way.
The artistic but somewhat creepy pieces of a story that this samurai man goes through.
A cast that keeps its flares through aesthetically pleasing characteristics and actions between each other.
The neo-America populated with chaos/criminals/government oppression.
Drug-inducing experience but all in all a great game and hopefully I'll won't be waiting for a long time for more story to unfold in this deep and enriching environment while slow-moing/deflecting bullets and appreciating more of what this game is about.
My GOD this game has made an EVERLASTING impact on me. The story.... and the way its told through mechanics of its gameplay.
It's just ... if there is ANYONE out there even remotely interested in picking this game up on either platform it's available on... please. There's NO way you could regret this.
I'm telling you right now... THIS is one of those games that you remember for a LONG, long, LONG time. You wish you could wipe it from your memory and experience it again.
And to think, the complete story still has yet to be told.
Death note like once in a lifetime experience.
Its pretty good. Gameplay gets pretty frustrating. Game is carried by its story and music. Gameplay 7/10, Story 9/10, music, 9999/10.
@@littlefinn9651 fair take, tho i also realy love the gameplay. ive never been into speedrunning but trying beet your best time on speedrun mode is just too much fun

this song definitely goes into my "anime character falls off from building peacefully" playlist
You know when you find game that’s just...really special for you? Think the last I truly felt that was Knights Of The Old Republic... but man... Katana Zero just resonates something inside of me.
Хмм, ну а Ваша Ваха то тут причём?!?
Same. I rave about it to anyone who will listen, and the few friends who I convinced to buy it didn't feel the same way I do about it. I don't think they even finished it. It's not for everyone I guess, but for me, it's a masterpiece.
Me and the snail floating in space staring at the last star's fading light as he confides in me whether or not we'll see each other again, and I remain silent, for even with all of my endless knowledge and wisdom gained over countless eons, I still do not know what resides after death.
Katana Zero is either a commentary on how war fucks a persons brain up or just a really fun game the dev didn't intend on being symbolic
Nah it's definitely intended to be symbolic
this song feels so god damn heavy like someone dropped all of their burdens and regrets on your shoulders
Something about this song just makes you feel every little insecure moment with yourself, every little regret and cruel thought. It hurts, but it's a good kind of hurt. Like washing out a toxin
When I went through this scene in the game it almost legit made me cry because of how beautiful it was
That picture tho👌🔥
This game is the paragon of all great story based games. Graphics, art, controls, optimization, gameplay are all big checks in the box. But the story coupled with the music is what really makes this game my ultimate favorite
Add NieR series to the list. The three games NieR Replicant, NieR Automata, and Katana Zero, use the medium of video games to tell stories that would be impossible to narrate in any other medium.
@@theundeadgamer9324 I've been playing nier automata recently and really enjoy it. To be honest I started playing it because 2b had a huge ass, but it's really good

The moment where he says, “it’s not PTSD it’s the drug” is so harrowing. Yeah. It’s fucking PTSD (at least in part) Jesus Christ, that’s deep. Classic, textbook PTSD symptom: Denial.
This track feels like its the end of the world and you just accept your fate.. cause there's nothing you can do about it.
Technically this can't be spoilers, because the dlc that will show what happens next hasnt come out yet, but here's my theory.
Not just the clowns, but the therapist, and the little girl, Tricia are all a hallucination, Zero isnt actually an amnesiac, he is just repressing his own memories, the reason our therapist gets mad whenever we learn more about chronos, or null is because its our mind desperately trying NOT to remember any of that, because we dont want to, its why the cathedral scene is so important, its showing that Zero is starting to accept his past
The reason why the officers say there isnt a little girl living next to you s because the crime scene they walked in on was the crime scene V. Left behind, of your noisy neighbors, so of course a little girl doesnt live there, theres only 1 victim, because V only punched the other guy unconscious, he probably wasnt dead, and the police are just now finding that. I want to say that the girl represents your conscience, which is hilarious, because when tragedy and comedy first mention the girl, when we first formally meet them, they say "did you see that little girl? Looks like he has a conscience after all!" And lastly, killing the therapist is representative of us losing our shit, which isnt hard to imagine, once you see what he does to the therapist
I like to think the "secret boss" ending is canon.

It’s a tiny detail, but did anyone else notice that the church scene is the only time in the game where you start on the right side of the screen and go left, when for the vast majority of the game you left to right?
I have never played this game, but now I want to. The emotion that I feel while listening to this is a different kind of sadness. Can't imagine what the game has in store for me.
