For muzan back storie is option 2
Don't worry after seson 4 there will be 3 movies but the movies aren't realised yet but I hope that when you finish s4 at least the first movie will come out 😊
Can't wait to se your reaction to s4 (i know you are going to love it) and the movies that continoune after s4 ❤❤❤❤
Fr how did tanjiro know about the parts he wasn't there for he never saw upper 5!
Can’t wait for you to see session 4🎉
Get ready for another Season it will be peak i swear❤
"CAN THEY LEARN MORE THAN 1 BREATHING TECHNIQUE"?"
Meanwhile Tanjiro already using water and sun breathing!
And every breathing technique is a variation from the original one because people weren't satisfied with the ones they learned XD
Blue swords suit for Water Breathers, red for Flame, yellow for Thunder, and other colors suit for each Breathings. Tanjiro's sword is black, and black contains every color.
That's why, in my opinion, Tanjiro could use Water Breathing.😉
@@TheDahaka1more like they couldn't learn sun breathing and made the 5 standard forms. The offshoots definitely were just them being picky though lmao
@@Gil-galadNoldoran Well even if one were to have a, let's say, Green sword, they could still learn and use Water Breathing.
So there's that.
Also, Tanjiro was even shown using Sun and Water Breathing at the exact same time during the Entertainment District arc.
If you had to choose between your sibling, your partner, or even your own child to save versus some strangers in danger… most would choose their love one. The fact that Tanjiro was faced with that choice, and couldn’t choose really goes to show how kind and empathetic towards life he really is.
Well, not just that, mitsuri would also die if the demon didn't die, if the demon got away, they'll be much more in trouble, because an upper moon survived.
He always just wants to save everyone 😢❤
@@miguelperigil2506the demon would have likely died anyways even if he got to the humans
That Ending really shows you how desperate muzan is, not even caring about TWO Uppermoons dying. Instead he only wants Nezuko....
As he says, he only created demons in hope someone will resist the sun, he's only goal to become immortal, not to control the world with army of demons
@@TheStimo200 I mean...if he becomes immortal....who need an army of demons anyway?
I think it was the end of last season? He clearly didn't care about Gyutaro it was all about them not getting him what he wants.
S4 spoils.....
He's not desperate, his entire existence has always been about him. Im anime only so going by whats been shown, clearly Muzan only wanted one thing from the moment he realized that drs medicine or w.e. he did worked. The blue spider lily or a demon who could resist the sun. Im pretty sure he legit says it in the anime, that it was the only reason he reproduced his kind. The fact he made a pact or w.e. you want to call it a curse with each demon he created, which allows him to instantly kill them and control etc, just shows that this was always his plan, to off them all at once once he was "complete". Which lets be honest, a muzan who never needs to sleep eat or fear the sun (cause clearly his head being cut off didnt work) would be pretty unstoppable. Not to mention if he can absorb and assimilate any of the powers other demons have cultivated, he will basically become ea of the upper moons he absorbs and any other demon below them with unique abilities. Just my assumption tho, since he wants nezuko for that reason.
@@UMadUCauseBadstill can be killed by the 13th technique of hinokami kagura. the technique that yoriichi created to slash all muzan's organ at once
The way they portrayed this scene to fake us out that she was going to die in the sun was so well done.
It also wasn't a cheap fake out just to tug at heartstrings as it leads directly into Muzan planning to absorb her to be immune to the sun.
Hi bro

Ngl, I didn't like it. The show finally set up a moment to flesh out Tanjiro's character, which so far has been quite plain and shallow and then it just tosses it away and lets Nezuko make the decision instead. It's a nice moment for her, fleshing out her love for humans, but a terrible one for Tanjiro, solidifying his character as uninteresting.
A lot of people, including me, thought that Hantengu was always making excuses for his actions. The author realized this and clarified that the bump on his head was a tumor causing him to have dissociative symptoms. That were his split personalities come from. He really couldn’t control his own actions.
Oooooh and that ties into his emotional breakup?? 🤯
Oh, since Tanjiro really hated this demon, I though he was evil even being a human. Now I feel sorry for him
@@blackcid It still made him dangerous even when he was human. If he wasn't capable of controlling his more selfish impulses, he could still hurt people. Guy just can't win.
Source?
@@platogkrone7161 Well, I think goofed up. I thought the author said this, but I'm not finding anything on it.
I think everyone who gave me likes need to take them back now. Shite.
9:19 Sun Breathing is the source of all Breathing techniques, so yeah, Tanjiro can do Thunder Breathing.
Any demon slayer can do any breathing, provided they train hard enough, they just can't master it. Sun breathers just have an easier time grasping the basics of other breathings. Tanjiro can never master Thunder breathing, just like he can't master Water breathing, because his body synergizes with Hinokami Kagura the best.
Also tanjiro already used hinokami kagura and water breathing simultaneously to boost his defense while not compromising his offence, now he's doing the same with his speed
He didn't actually DO Thunder Breathing, but moreso just implemented some of its fundamentals for movement.
if Zenitsu trains harder he can also do Sound Breathing like Tengen coz it is derived from... Thunder Breathing!! BUT Even Zenitsu only knows 1 Form of Thunder Breathing so he instead Mastered that 1 Form, Thunderclap and Flash with his techniques, "Sixfold", "Eightfold" and "Godspeed"
Tanjiro is not going to just wake up one day and automatically know stone breathing. Like anything in life, you can only do what you have learned.
"The moment Nezuko pushed Tanjiro away to protect them was absolutely heartbreaking! I genuinely thought we were going to lose her. This scene had me in tears, believing she was gone for real. But when she stood up after surviving the sunlight… I got literal chills
But deep down we know she won't die because it would have killed the purpose of the show
But yeah It was really an emotional moments 😢
@@zekron1718 They could have killed her off and Tanjiro could have gone down a revenge path to avenge his sister/family.
@@Krawbs nah man not that generic revenge story
@@zekron1718 Well what other purpose would he have to continue his pursuit of Muzan? Not too many options.
Quote marks at the beginning threw me off ngl
I am soooo happy that nobody spoiled the Nezuko thing for luke
🫡
Normally when a human is turned into a demon, the first thing they develop is their sense of self, but Nezuko has taken around three years to reach that point because her body was focused on developing the power to withstand the sunlight, that's what Lady Tamayo was explaining in her letter.
I know her not speaking was due to her trauma, and her years of sleeping after the transformation.
I figured Nezuko's first alteration was to survive without eating flesh, her recovery by sleeping. Then, her demon blood art after helping Tanjiro in battle so many times and being so injured by the spider. Next, the changes while fighting with Daki. Finally, all those adaptations that Tamayo noticed ending in Nezuko being the first "day walker".
Ah okay!! 🤔
She's essentially a demon that self evolved to destroy all other demons
The general process is upon getting turned into a demon they lose all self-control and self awareness and are overcome by a need to eat people on account of starving from the exhaustion of turning into a demon. Once they've sated their hunger they start to think clearly again, sometimes deeply regretting what they've done, sometimes not. Many let their human identity disappear from memory either because of simple passage of time or being unable to endure looking at themselves from the perspective of their human self. Which often results in a tragic situation of being obsessed with a thing they no longer comprehend, like family, or strength, or collecting on forgotten debts and nursing grudges against the world for sleights that can't be recalled.
If i'm not mistaken the name of the song that plays in the saddest moment is "Kamado Nezuko no uta" and the one that play in the famous episode 19 is "Kamado Tanjiro no uta", i love that
I really like how they portrayed Tanjiro's Thunder Breathing. It's much dimmer and quieter even than Zenitsu's scene back in season 1. It shows that he's barely imitating it and just like with Water Breathing, his body is not made for it.
More like he integrated it his own first form of Sun Breathing and create a new version of it call "Dancing Flash".
True 🤔
The author has always wanted to highlight throughout the story the human inferiority to demons in terms of feeling pain, getting hurt or breaking bones, not being able to regenerate... That is why she represents with more realism what it means to fight as a human with injuries and pain while demons have it easier (like the speech that Tanjiro shouted at Akaza after the fight against Rengoku).
Interesting takes on how Muzan became a demon! Most people don't consider other options besides "The doctor's medicine was extremely effective, but the incomplete treatment turned him into a demon."
It could also be that, since things like karma, magic, and spirituality are actually real in the demon slayer verse, his transformation into a demon might've been a form of divine punishment or a curse. Either way, i like how they left it open to interpretation somewhat.
Fun fact btw: In real life, the spider lily (red) is also called the red magic lily or *corpse flower.* It's often associated with death and reincarnation. So the fictional blue spider lily is likely meant to symbolize the continuation of life, without death or reincarnation. Quite fitting for Muzan!
Oh I didn't know that about the flower! 🤔🤔
JFC reading the manga back in the day and thinking she died but it turns out she's ok was such a relief and a crying moment for me, this anime is 10/10.
FK ALL THE HATERS OF DS...This anime is also 10/10 for me
Demon Slayer anime has good story, breathtaking animation, one of the best fandoms , excellent music, Very Good characters...Still many people hates this anime just because it's popular....IDK but it feels so stupid to hate a anime because of the popularity..it absolutely doesn't make any sense
Yeah, anything thats relatively popular in the anime community will always get hate for being popular. That also goes for all media in general.
@@thatonemayor That's just so sad
Anime fandom is worst in the history of the world
Oh man believe me there is a massively toxic side of the fandom
@@Phantom_373 Thats also with any fandom.
Flashback for upper 4 starts. Me: "wait, are you going to try to humanize this bastard?" Show: "Nah, he was always a bastard."
Also, the song "Nezuko overcomes the sun" hits so hard!
nah, the flashback is here to explain why he has this demon form. That's the whole point, he "never" commited these crimes, his others split personalities did
@@Nathan-nf3ws Nah, the split personalities are just him using his demon powers to double down on his BS excuses, the message of the show very clearly is that he was always a coward who refused to own up to his actions, that's why his true form was the one named "fear," because he was a sniveling coward too afraid to face responsibility, which lines up perfectly with Tanjiro yelling at him not to run from his responsibilities.
@@snapgab Fear hiding inside the heart of Resentment, very fitting with Hantengu.
The original name of that song is "Kamado Nezuko no Uta" btw. It's mean "Song of Kamado Nezuko".
@@snapgab Nothing has been revealed about this. DID, delusions, extreme coward, AHS. But DID makes more sense, it would explain his demon forms. It could be also a logical evolution to his cowardice
Zenitsu saving the day without even being there is iconic 😭
Classic Zenitsu behaviour 😂❤
And we know why Muzan was fond of Rui the lower 5, because he was also very sick like him
I also think one reason Hnatengu was upper four was because he and Muzan were so much alike.
They are both cowards hiding behind an army of minions and they are both completely fine with hurting other people so long as there is self gain in it.
Muzan's biggest mistake was to kill that doctor bc at the time he killed the doctor, the doctor was making medicine with blue spider lily for muzan
I think the first medicine turned Muzan into a demon so that it heals his terminal disease, and the blue spider lily turns Muzan back into a human so that he will be able to walk in the sun without his disease. It was a two stage cure and Muzan got real small brain
😳
God, watching Tanjiro be paralyzed by the impossible choice he has to make is heartbreaking.
It really is! Brilliantly done scene!
Muzan became a demon not just because of the medicine, but because of the hatred and evil in his heart. Nezuko became immune to the sun because of her love and pure heart. No demon has ever become immune to the sun because all demons become irredeemably evil after consuming human flesh...
Selfish Murder vs Selfless Sacrifice.
I was literally refreshing RUclips waiting for your video to drop, which I never did for any other RUclipsr.
I hope you get what I mean when I say that I really enjoy when you get teary eyed, not because it makes you sad but because it just shows that you’re enjoying it to the fullest and how moved you are.
I absolutely love the look Tanjiro gives Hantengu before cutting him open, it shows his pure hatred, all while believing his sister just died. Really reminds me of the quote from the KingKiller chronicles: 'There are three things all wise men fear: the sea in storm, a night with no moon, and the anger of a gentle man.'
And I love the look of relief and happiness on Tanjiros face as he blacked out, along with Hohenheims face at Trisha’s grave, this is the most genuinely at peace face I’ve seen in an anime
My theory about the medicine is that the doctor deliberately turned Muzan into a demon to cure his illness and planned to turn him back into a human afterwards but was killed before he could
44:19 the medicine is definitely what caused Muzan to become a demon, but I can understand the confusion lol
yep. And if Muzan properly waited to be treated, he’d be human again. Part of the medicine’s process is the demon illness. I honestly didn’t feel like it was that confusing lol
Is there a known recipe to turn someone into a demon?
My interpretation was: Muzan was born with a special body and it adapted to "something" from the medicine that is also in human blood. And so they happened to call him a demon.
It is confusing because I thought he was born a hero and was kept human with medicine.
tbh i don't get why it's confusing, I thought it was explained pretty clearly
@@shinobu1886 I mean yeah, it is explained clearly, but some people have different thought processes when receiving certain information
It’s only 8 episodes left, but that’s if we refer to a season. There are still two arcs left, we aren’t going to have a “last year of demon slayer” as soon as you can think 😁

I never realized, Even tamayo has her OST. The OST used here and the one in that 100MILLION dollar episode, they are same, Yuki Kajiura is really the Goat man.
Go Shiina is also a composer and he did most of the soundtrack in Demon slayer.
What 100 mil episode?

Muzan is clairvoyant with every demon, he can see through the eyes of all demons created, except the ones no longer under his control Tamayo, Yushiro and Nezuko.
Also there's nothing wrong with where you rank Demon Slayer, everyone has there preferences. It's just that you're still fairly new to the world of anime and have only watch like 30+ anime, whereas others have watched 500+ so Demon Slayer is naturally going to be further down their list then you. People are not saying Demon Slayer isn't great, but saying they simply find other anime better.
Of course the factor which also matters is when are you watching that particular anime like he watched demon slayer way early than most of us hence he would find it best but slowly it will go down on his list too😂
@@zekron1718 idk, I've seen over a thousand anime but I'd still rank DS somewhere around the top 10 I'd wager. For me the amount of Anime I've seen only serves to highlight how special something like Demon Slayer is, and how we should refrain from bashing it when each season is so filled with actual low effort anime.
@@DutchDread yea low effort anime are increasing too much that ds is looking like a good show
@@zekron1718I also saw demon slayer as the first shonen anime....then literally saw every freaking popular shonen anime to exist...and yeahh my top3 is fill with longer series...1.One Piece, 2.Naruto,3.Black clover,4.Aot,5.Bleach ...these are my top5 but still demon slayer holds my top1 position from another aspect ,the way demon slayer scribbled in my heart no other anime can erase that even though my top5 is something else...guess number of episodes matters...if demon slayer had gotten more episodes it would have been on my top 5 too but if it had extended to longer series like other shonens than it would have lost the same taste it has now in short version ,where every freaking episode dug deep in heart ❤️ so I'm glad it's a small series,
"I'm liking genya as well" Ahh us too Luke, we're loving our kitkat half demon 😢❤

@@GOTGames hey luke if you read this please watch these shows wayne kakegurui assasin classroom no need to post them just watch them
Demon Slayer truly has become one of my favourite things that I have ever discovered. Watching every episode countless times never ceases to make me happy. Your reactions give me this same sense of joy. Thank you for keeping these reactions up, I cannot freaking wait for the rest of you Demon Slayer Reactions.
I'm so glad you're enjoying it, man. I love it, too! It's my favorite anime.
Zenitsu keeps being the GOAT even when he's not present in the season, I love him
Cant wait for next season... because you said you like training🔥🔥
I've waiting for this fucking long time just to see his reaction during the Nezuko's sacrifice scene.
Dancing flash OST is beyond amazing I really like how Luke is speechless when the OST is on
I wouldn't read too much into what Haganezuka was saying about "honing the sword to the first level." Creating a proper edge on a blade is a multi-step process, from creating a rough edge, to setting up the bevel angle alignment, to stropping the blade to align any imperfections.
Nezuko conquering the sun is one of the best things I've seen in anime in a while. It was so so well done. I was crying watching again even though i knew what happened! But her willingly sacrificing herself to save those swordsmiths and because she knew Tanjiro was struggling to make a choice just shows how much humanity Nezuko still has. It was such a great scene!
That's what I like about this story. It isn't formatted in "this happens, and then this happens, and then this happens" like it does in most stories. Instead, Demon Slayer structures its story like "this happens, and because that happened, it leads to this, which leads to x,y, and z"
At first, I thought Nezuko conquering the sun was some random plot armor. However, that was actually the turning point of the whole show because now everyone, which includes the audience and the demon slayers, knows that shit is going to go down soon
The show has a story it wants to tell and it simply tells that story. It doesn’t need plot twists just for the sake of subverting expectations. I know it necessarily wasn’t, but it has the feel of a story that had the ending in mind from the very start, that start to finish was planned before it was ever given to a producer. It doesn’t need 1000 episodes, it doesn’t need an overly confusing story for the sake of trying to appeal to egotistical people who think they’re smarter than everyone else. It has a story to tell and it tells that story damn near flawlessly
This was such an amazing end to the season! The fights were insane and the anxiety that the whole situation brought throughout the episode was crazy. And Nezuko basically defeating Dark Souls and praises the sun! 🙌☀Thank you Luke! I'm on the top of the mountain with you with being one of my favorite series! Been loving your reactions to this series and looking forward to next season! Its crazy how you are almost caught up now! But it is not over yet there are still more arcs left, but you will just be caught up to the current season of the anime that is available!
I wanna share my first experience with this episode. I was crying like a newborn baby when I thought Nezuko was about to die and I cried more than a newborn baby after I found out she's alive and since my workplace is literally 2 minutes walk away from my home, 2 minutes after reaching this point of the episode where I couldn't watch it anymore because I couldn't see from my tears, I had to wash my face and work 2 minutes later and pretend my face wasn't covered in tears 2 minutes ago and my heart wasn't arching like hell. (I cried more in the work bathroom later too) ABSOLUTE CINEMA
Wow
I wished i would have experienced same as you
They did a stunning job depicting Tanjiros hatred in his final swings. 10/10
Luke is about to ball his eyes out 🥲🥲
Tamayo already knew that Nezuko would conquer the sun, it was just a flashback of her finding out about it. Therefore, she didn't learn it too late😘
There’s no end credit scene because it was in theaters, which was so fun to watch! We also got to see the first episode to the Hashira Training Arc before it was released.
I thought It was so beautifully written how typically the Sun is an ally of the Demon Slayers, and we always hope for it to assist them against demons, but this time, it was working against nezuko and we just wanted it to go away
This is legit one of the greatest episodes in all of Demon Slayer. Glad I got to rewatch it along with you.
10:51 Toshio Furukawa's performance as Hantengu in this scene is superb. It's amazing how well he uses his breath.
I'm watching Anime for over 20 Years now and I stand by it with every bone, fiber and cell in my body... DEMON SLAYER IS MY FAVORITE NUMBER 1 ANIME!!!
Enjoy the EPICNESS as it lasts, the only bad thing about Demon Slayer is that it will be over way to soon 😭❤🔥
We just not going to talk about him flipping us off at 42:20 ? 😂
😂
In another translation that I saw, Tanjiro when he hugs Nezuco says: "I thought I was left alone." That destroyed me. Greetings from Argentina
The fear inside the heart
How poetic
This episode is my favorite ever broadcasted so far for demon slayer. So epic, Zenitsu's breathing technique, Nezuko's sun resistance, etc. I teared so much
"I'm gonna chase you to the depths of hell to cut off your head" is such a hard line
i literally had been waited for a few weeks to watch this video. and finally i made to see your reaction.
thank you Luke! i love your channel best !
I want to point out the parallels with the Nezuko scene this episode and Tanjiro in season 1 ep 19.
In situations where they were each about to die, both Tanjiro and Nezuko found a way to survive by searching through their memories, while their respective OSTs “Kamado Tanjiro no Uta” and “Kamado Nezuko no Uta” played at full volume. In Tanjiro’s case, he was saved by memories of his dad, while Nezuko was saved by memories of Tanjiro.
ALSO also, you need to go and check out the lyrics to Kamado Nezuko no Uta. A lot of it seems to be Nezuko talking about Tanjiro, how she remembers his face, and likening him to the sun.
It was also great to see the last episode and the beginning of the fourth season in the cinema. ❤
Yes, they had a trend starting with Season 2 to play the last episode of the season and the 1st episode of the next season in the cinemas. So this episode was in the cinemas together with the 1st ep from season 4.
every demon Muzan creates has his cells. He has a connection through that. If you remember season 1 finale, he can even read demons' minds. So yeah. He saw whole season 3, lol
42:30 Actually demon slayer is a lot about symbolics and stuff so I too think that it was the action of murdering that doctor that made him a demon just like there are many thing in this series that are omens etc. like the upper moon meeting was after 113 years and hantengu (the fear demon) said that it's undividable number and it means bad luck for them. Similiarly Tanjiro didn't have a scar at the beggining but his good actions made him somehow get it which is a trait of sun breathers.
It's weird how little of a reaction Luke had to Nezuko talking! I was shook when I heard her speak for the first time
I love this episode for many reasons. I think the core of it is the demons and how it shows they are so different from each other. I think the story uses Hantengu (the emotions demon) as a great opposite to Nezuko. Hantengu was a monster even before he became a demon. He stole from those even less fortunate than him, told lies trying to blame others, and always ran from the consequences. He never did a single good thing for anyone else in his life.
Meanwhile, Nezuko was selfless even as a demon. She saved her brother countless times and did everything in her power to protect humans. Even at what she thought would surly be her end she literally kicked Tanjiro into action to save others at the cost of herself. I think that it's that selflessness that lets Nezuko live in the sun and why no other demon has ever done so before.
I love this anime so much! The art, the story, the emotion, the fights, the music!
I've rewatched it going on 4 times now and it's still gets me hyped!
no matter the critisism other people give this anime, its YOUR opinion that matters!! one click more with it than the other and thats valid. I absolutely love this anime aswell and it has a special place in my heart :)
Btw im planning on making a fanart poster about u reacting to the Demon Slayer episodes as a thank you for all your wonderful reactions! If u like, you can let me know ur top 3 characters from this show and ill draw them with u in the poster :D i appreciate u a lot and im happy u loved this anime so much! of course we still have a few episodes left but ill definetly watch u for different anime from now on too!!

I absolutely agree about how great this show is. Most of the people I've seen trash talking it, always have comments that make me feel like they just haven't watched the show. The final 8 episodes really feel like a slow walk to the end of a great series.
Can believe ppl actually say "it's a copy of bleach" I'm like bruh xD
@@Mightyscandare the craziest thing I always hear is that the story is "average". It makes me wonder if they know what the word average means.
@@CysaDaMerc lol i wonder if most of them are in the same family tree xD
Maybe a rich family that married each other cause that doesn't sound normal
Actually the doctor was trying new medicine but that medicine won't turn anyone to demon.
But what happened to Muzan was that medicine + his unknown illness made the demon
Now watch the opening and notice the brief scene at the end where Nezuko smiles as the sun starts to rise.
I literally cried a lot in this episode because the first word my autistic son said meaningfully was good morning
6:09 believe this depends on the length of the fight and if the individually is fully human or not too since a lot of fights arent actually that long in real time and adrenaline is a thing too
9:17 not specifically, he mimic it as best as he can, keep in mind that all breathing styles branched from the first breath so its not beyond tanjirou’s capabilities to mimic it as best as he can when hes already fluent in 2 breathing styles with 1 of them being the original breath itself or the fact that the breathing style are actually just the swordplay that emphasizes and strains different parts of the body so tanjirou is just utilizing an aspect of thunder breathing
11:52 yes… but like he was a coward since the beginning
37:31 a spider lily or lycoris radiata is a very beautiful flower, in japanese it called higanbana which means the flower of the afterlife and is known as the flower of death due to being found around graves and cemetery and is a flower that blooms suddenly and fades quickly, symbolizing the fleeting beauty of life but importantly the key differences here is that the color of this flower is of bright blood red… not blue
its also the red flower that youve saw each time the ending theme starts in season 1 of demon slayer too
41:31 the origin of demons may seem a bit odd since it scientific rather then supernatural but keep in mind blue spider lilies does not exist in real life, a blue variant of a flower known as the flower of death and whose name in japanese means the afterlife flower is highly unusual in general
blue is the foil to red so if the red is the normal one representing the fleeting nature of life and then the afterlife then a blue spider lily stands for the direct opposite; living, an extension on and clinging to life and if you apply this concept to someone who is dying with no hope living longer… the corruption of natural order does not bold well at all and the individual now lies somewhere between life and death
For the matter of using more than one breathing technique, you have to remember what Rengoku's father said, he said that all breathing techniques are derived from sun breathing meaning that a sun breathing user can use them all or even better than that use the original form that said breathing is derived from as it's even stronger
Any demon slayer can do any breathing, provided they train hard enough, they just can't master it. Sun breathers just have an easier time grasping the basics of other breathings. Tanjiro can never master Thunder breathing, just like he can't master Water breathing, because his body synergizes with Hinokami Kagura the best.
also tanjiro learned water breathing from a former hashira, and water breathing's power is that its flexible as water obv
Tanjiro's voice actor in this episode... OMG
This anime is absolutely amazing, with gorgeous animation, a gripping narrative and powerful emotional moments.
That said, people tell you that it's not all that mainly because the plot in itself isn't complex. The narrative has a lot of twists and turns and ups and downs, but the plot is "bad guy is bad because bad, one of his underlings threatens people, our heroes fight them, we find out that the underlings have a tragic past, the bad guys are defeated through the power of teamwork and then they go for the next adventure.
It's not a weakness of the story, I'd argue it's a strenght that lets it focus on the parts the author cared more about, but it is undeniably simple and straightforward.
So yeah, the reason people tell you that Demon Slayer isn't all that good is because they value complex stories and characters more than excellent animation and powerful emotional moments. They're right in their view just like you're right in your view, you just consider different things more important.
I'd argue that Muzan despite being a "bad guy being bad" is actually a very interesting and very human character. From the point of his very initial introduction where he chooses not fight multiple times, instead creating a distraction for Tanjiro and just walking away. Then the alleyway where we see him not just brush off the drunk guy, but actually apologizes to him. There's no ego in that moment, there's no desire for bloodshed. This dude is rude and aggressive to him and Muzan apologizes to him. It's only when the drunk guy brings up that trigger of looking sickly and pale that he reacts aggressively and violently. Of course now we know that being sickly, on the verge of death was the condition he was in as a human leading up to everything.
People also tend to look at his interaction with other demons through the very limited lens of when he's angry and frustrated and is notably a total asshole, but we do see bits and pieces of the other side to his ruling through fear. He does use the carrot as well as the stick promising rewards of further shares of his blood and the greater strength that comes with it. Then there's fact that he lies to the Temari demon about being a member of the twelve kizuki, it's the "you're special, you're strong and I trust you and am relying on you' technique of manipulation. There's the conversation with Daki as well.
But what is most interesting to me is the fact that it's his fear that most drives him. Tamayo brings it up how he prevents demons from working together because he's scared. He doesn't want to make more demons, which he mentions in this episode a couple times, he's afraid of demons being outside of his control in a way that deeply shapes him. It's a great bit of character self-contradiction.
Muzan is bad dude, who does bad things, but he's still a complex and interesting character.
@@calumnyslander4050 Oh, absolutely. As I said, the psychology of the characters and their interactions is the focus of the story, and I love it for it.
Buuuut all these perfectly valid reasons to appreciate such a layered character still ends up turning the plot in "you have to defeat all the mid bosses before you can reach the final boss who's the really really evil one" XD
@@TheDahaka1 I think I get what you're saying, and while I think that's a poorly formatted, way of framing the criticism I do somewhat agree. I feel like the series's pacing becomes a real weakness in the second half or so. Really feels like the pace loses a bit of footing starting in the Sword Smith village and then just gets more strangely compressed going forward. It's got this weird feeling of racing towards the end for the last full third of the total number of chapters. The last 70 out of 200ish total chapters take place over the course of about 12 hours. There you really do have a bit of that "deal with all the mid bosses to get to the big boss" situation, the pacing there is really what makes the problem to me.
There are a decent number of additional issues that come along with it as well. While I overall like most of the story choices that get made, I think the execution is weakened by the rate they play out and at times the significance of things feels undercut by how it's moved past.
But I do like the overall narrative choice with regard to the "getting to the final boss" that's made in having there be something that Muzan desperately wants to get from them, that pushes him towards them. That does help the overall story in terms of not just being about fighting their way to him but rather creates a situation of them both crashing into each other. But yeah, that is undercut by the fact that it just goes into the Infinity Castle story where it does reduce to sort of fighting their way to him through his underlings.
I have plenty of criticisms for it even if I do really like it overall, I just think the characterization of Muzan deserves a little more credit than "bad buy is bad" . He absolutely is a bad guy who is bad, but he's an interesting version of it, and people should give credit that character complexity doesn't need to be moral complexity. People are more than just a moral alignment.
@@calumnyslander4050 You're the only one that talked about weaknesses and criticism XD
I love Demon Slayer, and I consider the simplicity of the story one of the main reasons it can be so effective on the emotional beats.
I also love complex and layered stories, but they usually focus way less on emotions and interpersonal relations.
It's really all about what you're looking for in a story, and for me that can change even day to day (rewatching Death Note at the moment, for example XD )
@@TheDahaka1 I love Demon Slayer too. If I didn't I wouldn't have gotten lost in analyzing it and spun up a way longer post than I intended. Things I don't like, I drop much quicker.
Congrats, Luke 🎉 You reached this peak. THIS is a real emotional rollercoaster for this one episode
...
See you all in the end of Demon Slayer
I love that the small detail in Season 1 where they said people with Black Swords never amount to much and/or die, because they can't settle on what Breathing Style to use, but in Tanjiro's case it's been his strength.
If he didn't have Sun Breathing he definitely would've died by just trying to get by using Water Breathing when it's not what his body wants him to use.
So after his realization in Season 2(when he combined Water and Sun Breathing)he took a lesson from Zenitsu on Thunder Breathing, which allowed him to once again thwart an Upper Rank.
Once you finish Season 4 you'll be stuck waiting with us for the 3 Movies to cap off the Series, which will hopefully be peak.
Re: 15:55 - [Dancing Flash] is a combination of [Sun Breathing: Dance] and [Thunder Breathing: First Form - Thunderclap and Flash]. Similarly to how Tanjiro combined Sun and Water breathing last season, this one combines Sun and Thunder.
Luke: Can they learn more breathing technique?
Tanjiro: Water breahting and Hinokami Kagura dance breathing in the bag...
Well... You either perfect one breathing technique or learn pieces of each, but every person has a style that they better at, so it's kinda difficult for them to learn more
Tanjiro is a Sun breath user by birth, and Sun is the root of all styles so it's easy for Tanjiro to learn other styles, most of them are just modified Sun breathinh
1:02:58 No there are those 8 episodes but then there is a 3 part movie that finishes the whole thing off. However the Movies have not come out just yet.
Also the reason that explains why Nezu can stand the sun was because her cell have been constantly adapting and evolving. Explaining some of her changes and abilities that have come about over time, The sun only being the most recent evolution.
Nezuko walking in sun always reminds me of Kars sunbath lol.
Now I want to rewatch that scene with Kars' theme instead.
Mob Pscho 100 is a gem. Glad you'll watch it
People: Hiroyuki Sawano is the God of anime composer!
Yuki Kajiura on this eps: hold my orchestral piece.
FINALLY IT'S The episode we've all been waiting for him to reach.
Edited to add: The doctor was trying to cure a disease Muzan was born with and accidently turned him into a demon with an incomplete medicine he was working on. All Muzan needs to finish the medicine is a Blue Spider Lily but those only bloom during the day so he could never find one. Also the vampire movie is called 30 Days of Night and it is really good.
Isn't that a spoiler? I didn't know that was the reason he couldn't find it, but it makes sense. I suppose Muzan is too arrogant to depend on humans for the search.
I always wondered whether the sequence of showing the doctor's blood colouring the medicine was the last ingredient that turned Muzan - but that may have just been an effect
@@cinnay99 I don't think that counts as a spoiler now that him finding it is no longer a plot point also even humans would have a hard time finding it because it only blooms in certain areas for two or three days a year and closes at night to look like a big horsetail weed. Even a human who know what they're looking for would have to get really lucky.
9:19 Tanjiro can use the Sun Breathing because he learned it from his father when he was young. He can use the Water Breathing because he received formal training from Urokodaki. It is possible to learn multiple breathing techniques if they were trained properly and the breathing technique suits their body. In this case, Tanjiro was inspired by Zenitsu's words and simply "mimicked" the Thunder Breathing , but he was not able to use the official Thunder Breathing. Therefore, he was unable to use Thunderclap and Flash, but instead used an applied technique that mixed in the Sun Breathing technique.
Knowing that you love training arcs just tells me you’re gonna adore season 4
57:42 man, I love this kakushi so much
Most things I see properly explained here so I will try to clarify the rest:
When Tanjiro uses Thunderclap and Flash, you can actually hear the Thunder breathing - it sounds the same as Zenitsu's and then it switches and turns to flame breathing, its a really nice touch too.
I dont think we ever got the definite conclusion on how Nezuko survived. There are four prevalent theories as far as I know:
1. Kamado's are special since they dance Hinokami as offering to the Sun God - this one is least likely since we literally see her burning at first.
2. Nezuko evolved in the very moment she needed to - plausible but a bit odd.
3. The exact spot she fell on had a Blue Spider Lily (The flower Muzan has been searching for the whole time - he mentioned it/alluded to it several times before) which she absorbed obtaining the immunity.
4. My personal favourite - Nezuko did the antithesis of being a demon - a selfless act of sacrifice and thus she was "rewarded" in return.
Muzan can see and knows everything about every single demon since they all have his cells.
What we learned in the flashback is that the doctor's medicine as a side effect made him a demon and if he had finished the treatment he would have probably just been healthy.
It's Sun breathing/Hinokami Kagura not Flame breathing.
Zohakuten was the true upper four his main body was beheaded and he starts to just disintegrate.. didn't say a word mind you All he did was stare at mitsuri and Give her the evilest side eye as he vanished.. That's boss energy right there!!
Chad.
Sanemi: "what did you do to the master?!"
Muzan: "dude, I just arrived and that asshole blew up, I swear"
The Vampire movie you were thinking about is called "30 Days of Night" and it stars Josh Harnett
14:51 almost just spat out my drink 😂😂 I forgot about this moment
27:04 I just realized why this upper moon's flashback is different. On his demon self, he acts like he's a victim, and on his own flashback, it showed him that he is the one who truly bullies the weak. So basically, on his demon self, he acts like his own victims.
I hope it make sense lmao.
and just an addition, on his flasback, he was supposed to be "beheaded tomorrow" and back to reality where tanjiro doing exactly that! THE DETAILS.
All along the episode Tanjiro was saying that demons are all self centered as a main theme, then when he was unsure to save somone in order to protect "his" happiness (Nezuko), she made the choice, to sacriface herself for the villagers, that is when the first selfless demon was born and thus, she became unaffected by the clensing of the sun...or that is how I interpert it
tanjiro didnt do thunder breathing, he only did the technique of it, u didnt hear him say "thunder breathing" he only used like the basic stuff to get the hang of it but since all the other breathings came from sun breathing and tanjiro is supposed to be a weilder of it then he could possibly do it since he also knows water breathing lol. also the medicine the doctor made was just something trying to help him live longer and he was only trying to help muzan. but when muzan killed him he realized it was working. the doctor made a medicine that was the origin of demons not anything else
IMPORTANT: LUKE! THERES 3 MOVIES coming out after this season, so dont worry as demon slayer will continue for a few more years haha!!
14:37 not the Andrew Garfield laugh😂
Not a spoiler, but it's assumed that it was the medicine that turned Muzan into a demon. He was a frail human before, with a short lifespan because of his illness. Meanwhile, the lady demon Doctor and Nezuko rebelled against Muzan's blood. Demon doctor lady regained her sense of self (speaking normally as an adult), whereas the ''thing'' that Nezuko prioritised over regaining her sense of self, hence staying in a child-like state, was conquering the sun. She focused her growth and development on that instead of regaining her mind fully.
"Can they learn more than one breathing technique?" - Luke, Tanjiro has been using two for multiple seasons at this point...
Yes, he can see through their eyes, Hantengu looked at Nezuko as he was fading
1. you forgot that Tangiro inherited the Sun Breathing which is the creator of all the other techniques, so basically Tangiro can use multiple breathing techniques( like thunder) if he masters the Sun Breathing.
2. yes muzan knew about Nezoko from the Upper4 because he created all demons which means they are made from his cells he can literally sense everything about them.
( this been explained when Muzan could read The Lower demons minds before killing them / and when he killed the Ball demon girl after she fell for the spell of this demon doctor so she can not reveal his secrets/ and also that demon who kidnapped 16y.o girls of the village, when Tangiro asked him about Muzan, he just silenced him 💀)
"Dancing Flash" is a blend of Thunder clap & flash and Hinokami Dance
In manga translations it was 'Waltz flash"
It was not shown in anime but "Resentment" demon's head took while to burn so muzan saw through its eyes, That's how he know about Nezuko's happy sunshine
9:10 Since Tanjiro can do Sun Breathing, and all other breathing styles are derived from Sun Breathing, I think that's why Tanjiro has the ability to do multiple styles of breathing. That's why he was able to learn Water Breathing previously.
Anyone can learn any breathing style, not just Tanjiro who isn't able to master water breathing. He just has knowledge of the two from people he's learned from like Urokodaki & Zenitsu.
Mitsuri I believe actually mastered 2 breathing styles, unlike Tanjiro, iirc.
@@shinobu1886you are correct that anyone can learn any style but Mitsuri did not master two styles because you can’t. A demon slayers body is only fully compatible with one style so for example that’s why Tanjiro can’t master water breathing
Also, Tanjiro yelling don't run away from your responsibilities...
Me: *Zenitsu god speed run away*
As other berating techniques replicates aspects of sun breathing so tangiro being a user of sun breathing can use those powers as well
