Parotta is oddly similar to those 'Lache-daar parathas' I used to sometimes have them on this dhaba back home - it was considered their specialty, actually! Sure miss the shenanigans in the homeland. Edit: got to try some Parottas recently and they did hit home.

Actually porotta is really famous in bengal too ( not talking about parathas) here the shredded porottas are called petai porota and the big round ones are called lachha paratha

Bengalis had been eating all forms of porotas and parathas all life long not knowing there's a war being fought by north and south over it. Note: The entire kathi roll concept of Kolkata is based on using a porota as the wrap. Another popular combo in Kolkata is Porota + Chili chicken.
