Pick up the worlds best chalk here: amzn.to/3ydipUg or my favorite budget set of calipers: amzn.to/3Wj0GCV
    As always, thanks for watching.

Very good analysis. The other factor is shooting at a live animal compared to shooting at the range is a lot more difficult if you haven't done a lot of it. Your excitement level is much higher increasing your heart rate, breathing rate and making it much harder to hold the rifle steady. Sometimes your excitement level is so high your whole body shakes, especially if you've done some physical exertion prior to getting into position. Then add in that it's not just an animal he's shooting at, it's a human and a VIP. Also he would've known that his life was about to end dramatically increasing stress levels. I agree, his chances of hitting his target were low. Lee Harvey Oswald's chances of hitting his target were more likely. Leaving the grassy knoll etc aside, he was closer, an ex marine and an experienced marksman.

On the Army military qualification rang we have to hit targets all the way out to 300 meters. These are targets that pop and are there for on around 7 seconds. On the range targets are 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 250, and 300 meters.

I took my first buck at 140 yards from a tree stand and had NEVER been hunting before nor had I ever shot my dad's .30-30 rifle. The scope was spot on just as my dad had told me it was. This from a novice who shoots lefty and THOUGHT I'd missed because I flinched from the 'exhaust' coming into my face and the buck had disappeared. I climbed out of the tree and ran up the field to find the buck laying there in the tall grass and rushed to get my husband and the truck. He couldn't BELIEVE I'd made that shot. So, 'easy' or not, it can be done even by a novice shooter.

Thanks for bringing up this topic with an accurate video.
I think we're putting the wrong question here about the difficulty of the shot. Fact is that he hit Trump who survived only by a miracle.
The shooter made the shot. We will never know where he was aiming though. Was he aiming for the head or the body and just hitting the ear a foot of his aiming point away? How much was he wobbling around scoring a lucky hit or was he hitting what he was aiming for? We won't get these answers.
Regarding the gun: What precision and accuracy with the used ammo does it really have? Was the gun sighted in with the used ammo and on what distance?
Trump was lucky that guy didn't use a scoped medium hunting rifle or even a Garand with iron sights aiming for his body. Too much focus on the gun which is only a tool. And a lesser one in this case where better ones were easily available. Luck for Trump.
The lack of protection by the USSS is and remains the real important focus.

Also something else to add is that pos probably didnt zero his red dot very well either which could add another inch or 2 at 140 yards.

He also had a full value wind. We don't know the ammo type, so we don't have the B.C. for the bullet. Soy boy fortunately sucked for the job at hand.

I felt it’s difficult. How HE intended to make the shot. 140 yards headshot with only red dot and a 4 moa rifle that hasn’t been zeroed? Very difficult.

My wife also shoots My AR at 600 with a 2x and she’s pretty much bang on every time. But also not under pressure and off the bench with a bipod
