I have saw pictures of Michael Janich with this knife. I think that the idea behind using it for self defense is that being compact and lightweight you are more likely to have with you if you needed and being small is going to easier to excuse in court. The idea is that you carry this to be used for utility and self defense but if ever end up in court you swear it's was not intention to use a knife for self defense what could be accepted while the same thing would be hard to do if you had a Cold Steel Talwar for example.

I have 4 of the SS Delicas…2 plain blades, 1 plain / serrated, and 1 fully serrated. I have gone from cheap up to $900 knives. Sold them all and now Ijust own the Delicas and one Norseman…and a SAK. All I truly ever need. HATE THE FRN.

LTK- Delica's are a good EDC. The FRN always looks a little Fisher-Price to me. The new Zome pattern is an improvement. They should have a satin clip on the FRN models. I removed the paint and it was a great improvement. Stainless seems to defeat the idea of lightness. Good review.

Different points of view I suppose. I look at the ss version as the harder use as I couldn't really give two shits less about scratches and dings on my knife especially a delica. Delicas are excellent knives possibly the best as far as just works really well, but I wouldn't exactly call it a high end collectors piece although I realize that they do indeed have collector delicas made with exotic scale materials and high speed super steels sprint runs, but other than that, delicas are users till the bitter end. It's almost sacrilege having a delica and NOT putting it to use FRN, G10, SS, Ti put an edge on that shit and throw it in the pocket man! And as far as the grip. In real world actual use I think that if the SS had jumping and what not it would probably be a negligible difference for 95% of cuts. Also another thing to note about the SS version is while true it is heavier and heftier it's also a hell of a lot thinner.
Just wish they (ss) came stock with the flat ground blade or at least an option for it...

Get someone tiny scratches on the thumb nail as well, after opening with one hand ?
