It’s weird cause by Episode 9, I just didn’t care. I had fun but it doesn’t really add anything to the franchise and I’m still gonna do my Star Wars marathons as Episodes 1-6.

Try the machete order Rogue one New Hope Empire Strikes Back Clone Wars episode 3 Return of the Jedi that way you get all the big reveals then flashback to explain them

The reason why rebels, mandalorian and fallen order works is because the threat is "real" and relatable. The empire is the main power and your protagonists are so outnumbered and out gunned. They take place during the big conflicts.
The reason the sequel trilogy doesnt work is that it is kind of destroying the whole point of the original saga. ROTJ ends with the fall of the empire. But TLJ starts with a scenario where it is as nothing really changed.
The Thrawn trilogy works and jedi knights game series works, because they take place close after ROTJ; when there obviously will be remnant forces hanging around trying to keep power. But that should not be on the scale of The First Order.

It's so weird because there were _so many_ good ideas (individually) in this trilogy but the execution was just baffling.
A young Palpatine chooses the "Light" Side, a defecter Stormtrooper, Luke joins the Force looking at the twin stars, Leia Force-Pulling herself back into a spaceship in outer space, Yoda's "Pass on what you've learned, your failures most of all.", Holdo near-lightspeed-ramming a bigger ship (which yes, is a good idea but they bungled it by not establishing the odds and history of it).
First movie: Got potential, pretty nostalgic. Second movie: Luke does a 180 basically destroying the little farm boy who wanted to be a Jedi like his father. Movie three: HIT THE DAMN RESET BUTTON!!!!
At the end, when they're making the comparisons between Marvel and Star Wars, they should have added the biggest groaner of them all.

In a galaxy far, far away there was never so much wasted potential...
My main problem with the movie was the pacing. From the first moment, there was just absolutely no time to breathe. Every scene was so rushed, desperate to jump to the next one. It all just became a bit of a blur. I think the sequels on the whole have suffered from a lack of context. The prequels maybe had a little too much background and explaining done in them (what the OT fans called 'politics', but at least you knew what was happening in the galaxy, and the slower, longer scenes between the main characters made them mean way more to me, especially Anakin and Obi-Wan. I wasn't invested in any of the main characters in the sequels because I didn't have a chance to. I wasn't invested in Rey because she didn't have a particular bond throughout the trilogy. Was it Luke? He was only alive in the second one. Was it Finn? I mean they seemed close but he seemed to focus elsewhere in this movie especially. Rey and Kylo's relationship was a little more interesting, but they needed more time together.
The whole sequel trilogy just needed to be a little more simplified. That certainly wouldn't have been easy, but it's pretty clear that Disney went into the production of this trilogy with no clear plot across the three movies, which explains the director firings and the ridiculous style change between TLJ and TROS. Shame. I really hope DIsney take some risks on any newer Star Wars movies.

There was actually a "clone thing" in books. Basically new trilogy is somehow "based" on what was in books, they just changed it, cut it ALOT and finally decided to poop on it.

They wouldn't even let Poe be the pilot in The Force Awaken's that flies the falcon out of Jakku because they needed to show how wonderful the wonder Rey is. She can do it all, fly, sail, swim, force heal, fight with no training, force lightning, lift boulders, make everyone love her, etc, but shes not a Mary Sue you guys. Keep JJ Abrams away from D.C movies.
It's just best to pretend the sequels aren't canon, that instead they're just part of some kind of multi-verse. Focus on 1-6 plus Rogue One & Solo.

Saw this movie with my bestie who saw the original with me in late May “77”. Back then we drove home and I said I feel like we’re in an X-wing. This time I said I feel like we’re in a crashed Star Destroyer. Impressive but useless.

Out of 9 movies Star Wars has definitely 3 (maybe 4) good movies. Star Wars has more misses than people like to acknowledge. Also I'm not the bring George back club everybody else is. I remember the prequels, I don't have amnesia like everybody else.

The sequels that no one knew that we didn't know were coming that we didn't want...dun dun dunnnn! There,I fixed it...
This trilogy introduced so many characters and tried to do something for each one, but that made them all get half assed characters arcs. No ones story seems to make sense. Kylo Ren was the only character who had a consistent story arc, up until he rolls over and dies. Do you know how much screen time was wasted on characters like: Holdo, Rose, Phasma, Hux, Zora Bliss, Maz Kanada. Screen time that could have been given to Luke, Leia, Han, or Lando, and even the new main characters. If I was able to remake this trilogy, I would cut almost all the characters i mentioned that wasted screen time. I would make Rey and Ben be children of Han and Leia or even Luke and his wife (Mara Jade maybe) Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren would be the main villains and the Knights would actually do some impressive shit. Rey would actually struggle with the force and not just be perfect. The force ghosts would have a much bigger role too, they would teach Rey and Luke new ways of the force. There would be no bigger Sith Lord controlling everything. That’s basically the start of my own sequel trilogy
I've enjoyed the animated series far more than this new trilogy: clone wars, rebels, and resistance were all quite enjoyable, quite sad when the side stories do star wars greater justice than the flagship films.
