The buzzing occurrs because the VCR is trying to decode HiFi stereo audio but it struggles due to the bad recording. Thats why if I were to run a video transfer business I would have a couple of linear mono VCRs floating around just for cases like this, where the audio is important but it doesn't really need to be HiFi, or in stereo in order to come out perfectly.
The work you do is insane and I would definitely use your service if I were a normal customer, AND if I lived in America, no matter the cost. Your channel got me into VHS.

I have that exact VHS recorder/player (top panisonic) connected to my old CRT TV. I take good care of it and it's the last working VHS device I have.

I’ve been into video production and editing for many years and appreciate the bar you’re setting for converting these to digital video! Currently I’m having some fluttering or what sounds like [a repetitive static/low volume drum or clicking noise] - is how I would describe it. I’m not seeing any real good reviews on a VHS head cleaner on Amazon and I’m considering purchasing a refurbished VHS player instead of blindly hoping a used one from a thrift shop works but that might be the best first option as far as cost. I know I have tapes with a lot of white noise that should have video on the VHS tape so I’m afraid to contaminate a new player without using a VHS head cleaner. Oddly, at one point I moved my VHS player to the ground in relation to the wires I had running up to my Panasonic DVX camcorder which is feeding the FireWire to my computer - and by being on the ground I had heard some of that noise go away. I don’t know if that’s by chance or if the RCA wires have a problem too. Overall, I’m just thinking the tapes are from the late 80s/early 90s and the age of them are the root of the problem. Again, I appreciate your videos and tips!

All these tapes / players have issues these days and it’s becoming more time consuming and tedious work to get these things to play with clear picture and audio for the entirety of the tape, adding to that if they’re not the masters, recorded in long play or extended play, been kept in the garage, attic, sheds, even worse, hence why so many companies are churning out unwatchable junk.
Thanks for sharing your story & good luck on your project!

For someone that just got into the digitation world. This feels like heaven. So much equipment and I guess most of them are customer entry? I'm checking thrift stores regularly to check if they got any good VCRs/HDD-recorders. Maybe its already on your channel but do you have any tips on where to look for? Do I really need a Super VHS recorder? Do I really need to look for a TBC inside the machine? All the FAQ-items seems to be dated all the way back to the late 00s and beginning 2010s. What is your way of doing it 2023 style?
My way is to run the VCR into a HDD-recorder and then transfer the files from the recorder to my PC. I'm European btw, we mostly use SCART instead of composite.

Scouring eBay is the best way! Although anything refurbished with a warranty doesn’t come cheap.

I have a tape that plays in black and white only, it does try to play in colour, but won't for an unknown reason, would you know what the issue is, and how to fix it? Thank you!

I’d try it in another vcr to make sure it’s the player or the tape…or could’ve been recorded like that…or it’s possible a tape from another country, pal etc ..

I have a Panasonic AG-7350. From a perfect picture, it starts with a band of noise across the middle of the screen, and then it splits in two and slowly moves toward the top and bottom of the screen until the picture is gone. Then the picture returns and it starts all over again. Do ya think this is a tape path alignment problem, or something more serious?

Hello!.I'm from.Brazil and I have a LG 7723b. (Pal-m and NTSC). I play my vhs and choose the NTSC output. So I connect the S-VHS output on my cannopus ADVC-300. In the back of ADVC-300, I choose the RGB output. I connect it on my DVDO EDGE GREEN, from an upscale to 1080p. From EDGE to my PC, recording a .MKV in 1920 X 1080p (60Hz).
