- Chris Forsberg absolutely loves his Datsun 280Z, but could use a few upgrades to make it more fun for the streets. Chris and Jason Fenske from Engineering Explained use this as an opportunity to help explain drift car dynamics (like toe, tensions arms, and the suspension).

I'll always have room for a donut, thanks for having me out guys!
+Engineering Explained Massive props for bridging the gap between the theory and the practice. As a Mechanical Engineer who also drifts, there is sometimes an annoying disconnect between the two and sometimes its difficult to put it in words.
+Engineering Explained Thanks for coming out! I would call this a positive response -- I guess we'll have to do more collabs!
+Donut Media Yes!
+Donut Media You have to do more videos with Jason. His explanations with your video editing and visuals was brilliant. Loved it, wached it a couple of times since it has stuff that I can learn and not just cool driving and fooling around. You should really try this format and see if folks like it.
it all makes sense now
This is a lot of info but the more you know the better your car will work. Really stoked to upgrade my Datsun and it was awesome having Jason from Engineering Explained come by and breakdown the physics behind it.
+chrisforsbergracing Great video from both of you. Props to the video productions team as well. Solid edits between technical data and tire smoke. Keep it up!
+chrisforsbergracing You have to feature your z more! Its my all time dream car and it looks just too pretty with the back out :D
+chrisforsbergracing What are you using for your stub axles (if you're still using those factory parts. I'm still at the frame/rollcage stage of my build, but I'm worried about the abuse that drift is going to put those.
chrisforsbergracing where do you get alot of you're parts?
Killer Video. Quality edit as usual!
How could anyone dislike this. This is the best thing I've watched. All components and reasons they should be upgraded. Really want more videos like this
Okay. I officially found my favourite series. Finally.
When i saw they had jason from engineering explained I was so pumped like whoa my two favorite youtube car people
Not sure why you guys don't have a ton of subs, because your content is amazing!
+Andrew Fawcett Thanks! We figure if we keep making the best content we can you guys will get the word out.

Oh...really?

The videography was spot on. Great camera angles, lighting and the balance of short time lapse with hands on work with dialogue was really great. This is top tier work
This is my first time trying to understand the science involved in suspension set-ups. I have slowly been learning all of the components of the suspension without knowing exactly what they are all there for. This video summarised the key components pretty clearly. I definitely had to stop the video and rewind multiple times to really grasp everything. Chris and Jason, you killed it in this video, thanks for all of the valuable information even though it was fast paced it still taught me tons.
I like this. More of this please.
It's freaking awesome that you all collaborated to do this cinematic tutorial and informative segment, I've been following this for what items I may need from Techno Toy Tuning for my AE86 Coupe.
i'm using the info from this video in my tunes on Forza 6 (the closest I can get to actually drifting a car) and it's improved my driving tonnes. awesome vid guys, top quality
This is one of the greatest crossovers of all tome
I usually wouldn't enjoy these "explained" videos but you guys made it pefect! Just enough balance between the two to keep it entertaining.
fantastic video. eliminated a lot of confusion about alignments and how your vehicle performs.
Im here for the gray haired guy
Been following Engineering Explained for a long time and Chris is my favorite FD driver !
Thumbs up!!!
Killer video! Fast pace, tons of cool footage and facts!
Awesome collaboration!
Jason Fenske is the man. Fantastic explanations as always. This is a great team up. Donut and E.E
I love that Datsun. Glad to see it getting some love on one of your channels!
Awesome start to series! Keep them coming
That was a brilliant video! Thanks you guys!!
Awesome collaboration! Two of the most underrated channels together :)
When quality content like this only lasts 4 minutes but most crap is like 10-20 minutes long... you guys deserve wayyyy longer viewing time! Keep it up
FINALY!!! Been waitig for sucha long time to get the science behind drift setups. i´m (emberassingly many) years into my build, and still feel like a scrub. im trying to meet missile with semi compete setup with a very tight budget. having a tighht budget means buying all the top part like wisefab are out of the queestion, so getting know the scince gives me a chance to fabricate. Id LOVE a longer step by step tutorial, on the does and dont in drifting, common misstakes, and unecessary waste of many in parts.
a) Cool to see this Z again, think last time i saw it was the clarion add some years back or whatever
b) we need to see more of this Z on drift garage too...maybe some challenges against Ryan
c) nice to see the collabo with Jason, love his channel too
so all in all this video is all win!
Suspension looks so beautiful! Great cars great people!
This was a revisit viewing April2020 .And I found it more entertaining now because of where you both are today.
I did like the Drive explains and The Engineer interprets that was funnier to me now for some reason.
See a good video, getting better with age.....
Wow! You guys make a pretty good team.
Looking forward to future collaboration from Donut and Eng'g Explained :)
donut media, my new favorite channel, damn make more this kinda video!
GREAT EPISODE! TWO GREAT MINDS OF THE CAR WORLD! #Respect !!!
Wow, massive amazing collaboration!
This is a seriously good channel with quality content. Keep it up and please don't turn into another "buzzfeed for cars" type channel like I've seen others do.
That's cool you guys colabed with EE.. good kid and smart. He needs to be on more shows.
Dude that 280 is so sick.
Can't wait for pt.2!
Best collab ever!
3:43 Really wanted Jason to say "Angle of the dangle..." But of course that would be remiss because Jason is a true sir and professional.
Chris is involved with some awesome video's at the moment
Thank you for the information. I will try to use it in the cars of my drift videos.
Atlast someone is doing the right thing on RUclips.
this engineering explained guy is really making his way around the youtube channels...
that was awsome huge fan of both shows
Awesome collab
If you close your eyes and just listen, jason kinda sounds like the bill nye but the car science guy
very cool vid. thats awesome!
Please do more of thes videos!! This was great! Lets see an FC next lol
THIS. IS. AWESOME!!!!!
subbed because educational and racecar
Informative and entertaining
what an awesome video 👍
Christ F does a great job communicating the info which is rare for great race drivers... Obviously +engeneeringexplained is great at his game
All of this very detailed information about the physics of cars and drifting and also what each little part of the car does.. where would I be able to learn such detailed information about cars?
awesome video 👍
Well done. Thanks.
Picked up a set of the GTX2 control arms for the AE86.
greatest video on the web
Damn! That"s the Old Crow belly tanker!
Great vid :)
DATSUN!!! Love it.
Awesome team up 😋😋😋
Great vid
This is awesome
Jason from EE!! yes
Saw Jason, liked immediately
Hey @Chris, what spring rates did you use on the front/rear for your 240sx? Thanks!
what a awesome street drift car.
Techno Toy Tuning bits! They make good stuff!
Awesome. Love me mash up with EE!
Does anyone know if cut truck suspension would work on a drift car because it needs stiffer suspension?
Part 2 pleaseee
DOPE AF
Where did you find your parts I have been looking for my 280zx and haven't found anything
brilliant video just wish you used e46 BMW I'd know exactly what to do to my car!!
did you guys use the techno suspension kit for this build??
How extended lower control arm change / reduce scrub radius? 1:00
+fregis Yea, not sure, lol. Good catch.
If camber is kept the same the wheels centerline might be moved out more than the king pin axis. But I can see how they may equally move outward causing no change in scrub radius.
More videos !!!
What offset are you guys using on those wheels
where did Chris buy all these after market parts
how much for the all part ?
Dude, Rad.
god i love that car
I just learned so much holy shit
Thanks guys! subscribes!
very nice and tidy
Is this before or after Nolan was Recruited???
Useful
Song names? Lol also how does bump steer affect performance on track?
What are those front struts?

For those wondering about Jason's hair - he colors his hair every day with a Mobil 1 silver Sharpie.
"A couple minutes each day, and then you know, after a couple years you can look like this too."
-Jason Fenske
Those rims are sick what are they??
Because 4:26 is how you put your tire on... LOLOLOLOL
Camber was the easiest explanation here. Nice video btw.
