She is, to many of us, the best Female Vocalist in the world. Very unknown to many still. her back story. in one's twenties, she was diagnosed with early stage cervical cancer. She survived and beat it, but she was rendered infertile as a result of the treatment. She sings of the pain she feels from never being able to have her own children. The meaning of the song and how she deliver the song.. I feel her pain, I feel her story. She is a beautiful person, inside and out with not a mean thought in her mind. Credits to Kanami, the genius behind the composition of their songs, and Miku for coming up with the lyrics. But execution and performance goes to the entire band. They are just a talented and cohesive group. They are simply amazing. Personally, I have not seen a band as good as Band-Maid in a couple of decades. They are just that good and talented. Of course I might just be bias and can also relate and share your obsession. 😁
My story of Band-Maid I am an anime watcher. One of my first series was Yugioh and as such I watched Yugioh Vrains. Low and behold Band-Maid song ‘Glory’ was the fifth ending for Vrains. I didn’t think much of it beside my favorite ending until I started looking for songs to write and OP and ED for my fanfiction series (Yugioh Vrains). I looked at the previous artists of Op and endings in all the Yugioh series to help me find something that would work. I checked out Band-Maid and as they say, I fell down the pigeon (Po!) hole. The rest is history. If you really want to know how hard I have fallen for these girls, I never listened to ANY foreign music outside anime, I never really had a favorite band, I never knew the people that made up the band, and I never wanted to go see a concert until now. Thank you Band-Maid for keeping rock alive and serving us with your music!

This video is a giant Easter egg. Did you notice that the first waitress has a red bow and two braids? Like Miku. Coincidence? No! She started the madness when she formed the band. The second waitress has a blue bow like Saiki and she behaves exactly as Saiki would. Distant, cool, irritated. Next are Kanami (waitress with yelow bow), MISA (woman with the broom) and finally Akane ( guy with black suite) But together they have happiness, order and friendship.

I am Japanese. I'm glad you like Band-Maid. However, Band-Maid is really a live band. Please watch the live MV once. It can be either 2019 Zepp Tokyo or 2020 Shibuya Public Hall. If you like drums, "Freedom" bass, "Play", vocals, "Wonderland", and so on, so you can enjoy your favorite songs.
To really appreciate the Band Maid journey you should listen to Thrill, their first mv, then Alone, their first self written song allowed onto a record. These ladies have been fantastic from the beginning, but have just continued to get more fantastic to this point! Something live is a must, too! Domination, Play or Freedom would be great first ones. Somewhere ( in a spooky old house?) there is a picture of the Band Maid ladies, slowly but gently aging and fading, while in the real world, they are consistantly awesome and beautiful. This is the only logical explanation. :)

For a highlight on vocals and a little less "punch in the face" that many of their newer tunes deliver, check out the live version of Wonderland. Lots of subtlety in arrangement and, as a singer, you'll likely appreciate the tune in a different way than the bangers like this, Warning, etc.

I started my Band Maid journey in early 2016. Today, Band Maid is everywhere, from eBay to Amazon, from cd Japan to Redbubble, from Wikipedia to J-Rock News. In early 2016, their Net presence was close to non-existent. No one you talked to had ever heard of Band Maid. and, when you told them that they were an all female "hard rock" band from Japan, you could see their eyes strain not to roll, and their heads try not to shake, "Nooooo!". As a grown American female asked me about three months ago, "Are they any good at all?" Commentators would say things like "They'll never last, because girls have no stamina" and "They're not actually playing those instruments, are they?" Even a month ago, I had to read, "Kanami is a hack who can only play what she has practiced and memorized; she lacks spontaneity and creativity". To those who say, "If they are so good, and so respected by their peers and the public, why aren't they more famous?", I would say, "Consider the following: "Start with a world in which Taylor Swift (stage name) is not well-known. She will be from Iran and her skin will have an appropriate degree of melanin. Her band will be composed of entirely of Iraqi females. She will sing primarily in Urdu. She will insist on virtually total pre-production control of her product, and will want a significant say in post-production too. For most of the world, her albums will have to be purchased entirely or primarily as imports, with the commensurate product prices and shipping/handling fees. Her music will mix genres freely (within a song), and will generally be classified as "hard rock" or "metal". North American radio will (virtually) not play her music. The influential American music industry will ignore her. (Note: Bands like "Voicebrot", much less "The Warning", do not offer a direct or useful analogy here). How popular will Taylor Swift be in North America in her first year? How about in her ninth year [assuming that she would last nine years]? I think that the members of Band Maid, in general (and Miku in particular) have done a heck of a job with their collective career and have EARNED every bit of success that they enjoy!
If you look at the subtitled lyrics they are quite complex and a little darker. The frustration really shows. But you need to look at the video and listens to the songs several times to get the complete experience. Still by far the best band around at the moment.
Loving these, hope to see more of them. Traditional (and not so traditional) Irish music is one of my favorite things to play (guitar/bass/mandolin/kind of vocals), so I'd love to see you react to something like The Pogues. Maybe I'll put a tip towards it once you're back.

'Warning!' had the slow start because it was the first song on the album. They start every show with the "Maid's Waltz", so they decided to start this album off the same way. And I agree with you on their song composition. Kanami is a wonderful composer and all the other members are getting into the song writing these days, as well, so it's just adding to their sound. I believe Miku on rhythm guitar is still responsible for all their lyrics. She is a modern day poet, and she writes some pretty heavy stuff if you ever look at what the actual lyrics are. Which makes it really funny since every song SHE is the main singer on is really poppy and upbeat. She's a complicated woman. Every song does what it can to highlight different members. For instance, "I Still Seek Revenge" is wonderful for how it shows off MISA on the bass, and "Blackhole" shows off Akane on the drums fairly well. But even when a member isn't highlighted, everyone is still putting forth their all in the background to make the songs amazing.
I can't remember what band maid song I heard for the first time, it was about 3 1/2 years ago or so, I was very disappointed with the music I had access to at the time, because of band maid I have become fanatical, they're influence has led to discovering other band's and even attempting to learn Japanese, arigatou gozaimasu band maid.
Fun fact: This new album, Band-Maid has translated the lyrics in RUclips's closed captioning. So, watch it once without subtitles to get the feel of the music, then turn on the captions for the second viewing to get the full experience and message.
Hope you got a notice that they have a new one out for their song "About Us" which was written as a sort of love letter to the fans for sticking with them and they lost their concert at Budoukan and had to do an online live concert
Worth listening for singing point of view, aside the new album, older songs live or MN like "Wonderland", "Choose Me", "Gion-Cho", Puzze eletric and acoustic versions, and "Alone", their very first composition.
Want to see a great example of Kanami’s composing/arranging chops do a comparison on Puzzle Live and Puzzle acoustic - she is the heart of the band while Miku is the soul. They are all fantastic together.
Dare I say it? I see the last part and I see a dance routine synchronized and choreographed with exactly three maids, with older individuals behind them. And they never done that before... And I see it as having a laugh at how some people compare them to a certain other group known for that approach... just one of many elements to this.

The funny thing is that I've listen to this song so much on Spotify that it seems a little old to me. That song hits you in the face with the first chord and doesn't let up. On a side note, there are MANY unbelievable singers in Japanese bands that you are doing yourself a disfavor by not listening to them. Credits to Kanami, the genius behind the composition of their songs, and Miku for coming up with the lyrics. But execution and performance goes to the entire band. They are just a talented and cohesive group. They are simply amazing. Personally, I have not seen a band as good as Band-Maid in a couple of decades. They are just that good and talented. Of course I might just be bias and can also relate and share your obsession. 😁
My story of Band-Maid
I am an anime watcher. One of my first series was Yugioh and as such I watched Yugioh Vrains. Low and behold Band-Maid song ‘Glory’ was the fifth ending for Vrains. I didn’t think much of it beside my favorite ending until I started looking for songs to write and OP and ED for my fanfiction series (Yugioh Vrains). I looked at the previous artists of Op and endings in all the Yugioh series to help me find something that would work. I checked out Band-Maid and as they say, I fell down the pigeon (Po!) hole. The rest is history.
If you really want to know how hard I have fallen for these girls, I never listened to ANY foreign music outside anime, I never really had a favorite band, I never knew the people that made up the band, and I never wanted to go see a concert until now.
Thank you Band-Maid for keeping rock alive and serving us with your music!

They just released a new MV for "About Us", which they wrote for the show (okyu-ji, as they call it) they were supposed to have earlier this week at Nippon Budokan. Instead, they played without a live audience, and livestreamed it on Zaiko, and the aforementioned MV is from said online show.

The second waitress has a blue bow like Saiki and she behaves exactly as Saiki would. Distant, cool, irritated.

I am Japanese. I'm glad you like Band-Maid. However, Band-Maid is really a live band. Please watch the live MV once. It can be either 2019 Zepp Tokyo or 2020 Shibuya Public Hall. If you like drums, "Freedom" bass, "Play", vocals, "Wonderland", and so on, so you can enjoy your favorite songs.

To really appreciate the Band Maid journey you should listen to Thrill, their first mv, then Alone, their first self written song allowed onto a record. These ladies have been fantastic from the beginning, but have just continued to get more fantastic to this point! Something live is a must, too! Domination, Play or Freedom would be great first ones. Somewhere ( in a spooky old house?) there is a picture of the Band Maid ladies, slowly but gently aging and fading, while in the real world, they are consistantly awesome and beautiful. This is the only logical explanation. :)

For a highlight on vocals and a little less "punch in the face" that many of their newer tunes deliver, check out the live version of Wonderland. Lots of subtlety in arrangement and, as a singer, you'll likely appreciate the tune in a different way than the bangers like this, Warning, etc.

I started my Band Maid journey in early 2016. Today, Band Maid is everywhere, from eBay to Amazon, from cd Japan to Redbubble, from Wikipedia to J-Rock News. In early 2016, their Net presence was close to non-existent. No one you talked to had ever heard of Band Maid. and, when you told them that they were an all female "hard rock" band from Japan, you could see their eyes strain not to roll, and their heads try not to shake, "Nooooo!". As a grown American female asked me about three months ago, "Are they any good at all?" Commentators would say things like "They'll never last, because girls have no stamina" and "They're not actually playing those instruments, are they?" Even a month ago, I had to read, "Kanami is a hack who can only play what she has practiced and memorized; she lacks spontaneity and creativity". To those who say, "If they are so good, and so respected by their peers and the public, why aren't they more famous?", I would say, "Consider the following: "Start with a world in which Taylor Swift (stage name) is not well-known. She will be from Iran and her skin will have an appropriate degree of melanin. Her band will be composed of entirely of Iraqi females. She will sing primarily in Urdu. She will insist on virtually total pre-production control of her product, and will want a significant say in post-production too. For most of the world, her albums will have to be purchased entirely or primarily as imports, with the commensurate product prices and shipping/handling fees. Her music will mix genres freely (within a song), and will generally be classified as "hard rock" or "metal". North American radio will (virtually) not play her music. The influential American music industry will ignore her. (Note: Bands like "Voicebrot", much less "The Warning", do not offer a direct or useful analogy here). How popular will Taylor Swift be in North America in her first year? How about in her ninth year [assuming that she would last nine years]? I think that the members of Band Maid, in general (and Miku in particular) have done a heck of a job with their collective career and have EARNED every bit of success that they enjoy!
If you look at the subtitled lyrics they are quite complex and a little darker. The frustration really shows. But you need to look at the video and listens to the songs several times to get the complete experience. Still by far the best band around at the moment.
Loving these, hope to see more of them. Traditional (and not so traditional) Irish music is one of my favorite things to play (guitar/bass/mandolin/kind of vocals), so I'd love to see you react to something like The Pogues. Maybe I'll put a tip towards it once you're back.

'Warning!' had the slow start because it was the first song on the album. They start every show with the "Maid's Waltz", so they decided to start this album off the same way.
And I agree with you on their song composition. Kanami is a wonderful composer and all the other members are getting into the song writing these days, as well, so it's just adding to their sound. I believe Miku on rhythm guitar is still responsible for all their lyrics. She is a modern day poet, and she writes some pretty heavy stuff if you ever look at what the actual lyrics are. Which makes it really funny since every song SHE is the main singer on is really poppy and upbeat. She's a complicated woman.
Every song does what it can to highlight different members. For instance, "I Still Seek Revenge" is wonderful for how it shows off MISA on the bass, and "Blackhole" shows off Akane on the drums fairly well. But even when a member isn't highlighted, everyone is still putting forth their all in the background to make the songs amazing.
"Warning" is the first song on the digital release and has the "Maid Waltz" intro "Manners" is just plain GROOVE

I can't remember what band maid song I heard for the first time, it was about 3 1/2 years ago or so, I was very disappointed with the music I had access to at the time, because of band maid I have become fanatical, they're influence has led to discovering other band's and even attempting to learn Japanese, arigatou gozaimasu band maid.

Hope you got a notice that they have a new one out for their song "About Us" which was written as a sort of love letter to the fans for sticking with them and they lost their concert at Budoukan and had to do an online live concert
BandMaid is in one room. The other room has waitresses, cleaning woman in blue overalls, restaurant manager all going crazy with restaurant stress.
Worth listening for singing point of view, aside the new album, older songs live or MN like "Wonderland", "Choose Me", "Gion-Cho", Puzze eletric and acoustic versions, and "Alone", their very first composition.
For fast singing you can try "Rinne" (Reincarnation"; Blooming and Different
Want to see a great example of Kanami’s composing/arranging chops do a comparison on Puzzle Live and Puzzle acoustic - she is the heart of the band while Miku is the soul. They are all fantastic together.
Look at the picture on the wall of the maid cafe. Someone said one of the women was Miku because her vlog said she worked there.

Dare I say it? I see the last part and I see a dance routine synchronized and choreographed with exactly three maids, with older individuals behind them.
And they never done that before...
And I see it as having a laugh at how some people compare them to a certain other group known for that approach... just one of many elements to this.

The MV is about Miku's experience in a Maid Cafe, she was driven mad by the job so she formed Band-Maid. The very first shot is in the actual cafe she worked at but the video then moves somewhere else for the fits and tantrums.

Hi Kate, new subscriber here, really enjoying your Band Maid journey. One of their previous song that I think hits even harder than this is Real Existence. That song hits you in the face with the first chord and doesn't let up.
On a side note, there are MANY unbelievable singers in Japanese bands that you are doing yourself a disfavor by not listening to them. My suggestions for you are:
Lovebites Holy War (live) ruclips.net/video/bgAxpEpEcno/видео.html Lovebites is an all girl metal band out of Japan, they play old school power metal (think Iron Maiden, Judas Priest). Their singer, Asami, did R&B before joining Lovebites and she is amazing!
Another great Japanese singer is Fuki. Fuki is one of those artist that hates not having a project to work on so she actually fronts multiple band besides doing her solo recordings.
