I love watching your videos. I too learned what I know from my dad. He got ALOT of knowledge in me before he died when I was 18. (16 years ago) every job I do from hanging a picture to building a garage and landscaping has at least one moment where I remember him showing me something. Great videos. Keep em coming 👍
Aww, I love that!! I know it's been a while, but sorry to hear you lost your Dad and especially when you were just 18! And yes, plenty more to come! After a long Christmas break, I've got a lot of catching up to do 🙈
Lol...tried training my husband over Christmas... in fact, that's how he sold another narrowboat holiday to me. We went on it and he was a cheeky monkey to train, so it never happened 🙈 Looks like I'll have to continue to being a one woman band still lol
Handy Hint 52. Always use an extended bit holder (approx. 150 mm long) for this sort of work. This keeps the drill chuck far enough back so a) you aren't driving the screw at an angle, and b) the chuck doesn't scuff the side of the gutter or down pipe clip.
So sorry for the accidental upload just before this. There was an error in the video and when duplicating it and renaming the old one, I accidentally hit save under "Publish"... great start for my first video back, eh? 😁😁
Great job vikki and good to see you back. As you say working on a bungalow is so much easier than a house. I find when you put the fittings on, a little bit of fairy liquid on the rubber just helps to ease it on to the gutter.
Don't worry about the balaclava Vikkie. You've got to be comfortable and happy to do good work. In the years to come what RUclips commenters say will not bother the people who live in this bungalow. Leaking guttering will though!
Nice job. It would have added to the video if you drew up a quick list of conclusions on what you learned from the job, and how you would do it differently next time. For example, you learned that the string is best used to align the lips of the brackets making installation very quick. I'm surprised that the spacing is only 40cm when most manufacturers recommend 80-100cm. Also, you didn't go into enough detail on what fall is recommended which can range from 1.5-3mm/meter
Looks alright always a bit fiddly in corners and a blunt saw usually works better cutting plastic I got one I just use for plastic. Lol hope you done a holiday video on the boat. Cheers 👍
Never used PVC gutters, only metal. I'd like to harvest rain water off of my out buildings. The PVC looks like it might be easier to work with. Once again, thanks for giving me ideas.
@@moonblink Never seen plastic gutters before. The last time I hung gutters was about fifteen years ago. I was replacing the ones on the back of a house that I was moving out of and my aunt was moving into. I don't recall PVC even being an option at the hardware store. My father had new siding hung on his house a few years ago and had his gutters replaced at the same time. I was just up on his roof this past fall cleaning the gutters and they were galvanized sheet metal just like the old ones. I live rural now and I'm not a carpenter so I don't know how long PVC has been an option, but a new hardware store just opened near me so the next time I'm in town I'll have to check.
Thanks for your honesty :) It was quite dull or dark in places, but wouldn't say reaallly dark. Looking forward to the brighter days though - it's very difficult filming in Winter :(
The Carpenter's Daughter haha I didn't mean it bad. I had an idea what you were doing though. Hope you get better weather next job 🤗 not all was dark though. Nice job 👍
Good job... looks really nice! Most guttering seems to be black & round. What brand is the PVC guttering & is it available from Screwfix or Toolstation.

Most of my 6 week holidays from school where narrow boat holiday. On the leeds liveroool to chester but went down to Wales a few times. Loved it.
What I like most is the pure honesty. Make a mistake, you say so, we all have to learn. Keep em' coming.
Thank you :) No point sugar coating things if it can give people a better idea of the job :)
Good to have you back

Didn't see it so didn't matter lol 😉
Its still awesome tho.
😂👌
Hehe, cheers :)
Love the new roof and canopy, great work on the gutters.
Thank you :)
Good on ya for working with your dad. Very special times. I know he cherishes it.
Or I'm a nuisance 😂😂
@@TheCarpentersDaughterUK I am going with the chance he enjoys it. Hahaha
Nice video! The house is coming along nicely. I'm glad you posted, you've been missed.
Aww, thank you :)
Flipping brill tip with hacking the top of a nail off as a screwdriver bit!! Your Dad has all the nifty tricks ✌️🌲🦊🌲
Haha... it didn't even cross my mind to be honest. But now I know if I run out ☺️
Good to see you back. Excellent progress! 👍
Thank you :) Got a lot of video editing catching up to do 😂
Good job, thanks.
Nice job the Swan neck looks brill 😊😊😊
Thanks! All these names are a learning curve 😝

Thanks for the tip! I'll remember that for next time if I need to do it again :)
Same goes for push fit plastic waste pipes
Excited I love a car port. Surprising you don't see more of them
Yes, I haven't seen many. There's also going to be a porch under that space soon, too.
What a difference, the canopy looks great.
Thank you :) I hadn't a clue what it was going to look like, but it turned out lovely ☺️

Yeah, I really struggled with those clips when trying to fix the guttering in situ 🙈😂 And yes, I did film it. Hopefully not too long a wait :)
Great job, you will have to train my wife LOL !!!
Haha, it's definitely not the most fun project 🙈😝
Great job Vikkie love your videos x

Glad to hear it's given you ideas. Yes, I can imagine this is much lighter to work with and to cut :)
why only metal and never pvc?

Welcome back. I didn't watch it all just the video very dark but not sure if it's my iPad 🤔 but what I did watch looked very good 👍

I knew you didn't :) Yes, Winter is rubbish 😂
Got to get yourself a long thermal vest ,keep that lower back all toasty👍 . great video as always .
Haha... everyone kept telling me so when I was working, too 😂
Great video!
Cheers :)
Can I please ask, does the end of the gutter downpipe terminate over a drain? Thank you
Hi, What did you use to join the gutter connections? Is there a special glue??
Good progress :)
Thank you :)
Here's my written step by step - thecarpentersdaughter.co.uk/renovations/installing-guttering-2/
Good day. What did u use to connect the elbow to the down pipe?
How high do you place the first clip measuring up from the facia board?
Excellent job! Gutters still scare me.
Haha... it wasn't my favourite of jobs, but now I know, I'd rather do this than hire someone.... providing it's a bungalow 😝
Good job... looks really nice! Most guttering seems to be black & round. What brand is the PVC guttering & is it available from Screwfix or Toolstation.
I'll ask! It was neither of those brands.
They said they bought it from Quay Plastics.
You look to have screwed into the mortar, you should never screw into mortar, as water can get in freeze and blow the mortar bed
Great inspirational video uploads but sadly your Burglar Alarm box failed to detect an unwanted guest on the roof at 0:25 ...
😂
And thank you :)
很佩服您的动手能力这么强,非常酷
How much did it cost to your dad to replace the whole roof?
Perfect following storm Ciara 🙂👍🏻
Yes, definitely! We camped on the drive under the porch on Saturday night and everything was still intact, including the new roof tiles 😝
Hot water helps when putting on the clips .
Thank you :)
Next time try putting the hangers on first and just slap it all up in one piece
My dad died
😥
