So wonderful, that he mentions that the overcoming of his horrible parentage is what made him the author he is today. I have told so many young people this, you do not need perfection in your bringing up. It is the choices you make, that give you that steel, that teaches you those lessons, that makes you the person of the capability and understanding you are. I've seen so many shallow young people that have had it easy, and so many strong and capable young people that have done what Dean has. By overcoming they learn how to handle life.
I suppose that everyone takes something else out of this piece...what amazed me is that a man who clearly does not need to write any more still does so 10 hours per day...this is passion, this is madness.
The first book of Koontz that I read was dragon tears, my son left the book in the car while he went to apply for a job, I figured the book was for teens but started reading to have something to do while waiting. Needless to say I refused to give the book back to him till I finished reading it. lol. My favorite of all his books was ''Tick Tock'', I was heart broken that there weren't more or rather any sequels of this book.
anyone going to interview him about this wuhan 400 conronavirus he wrote about 40 yrs ago and stated in the book it would be a bioweapon unleashed in 2020?????????????????????????????????????????
And thank goodness he writes books instead of selling cars. I have gotten so much happiness from reading Dean Koontz novels (the stranger the better). And so humble, this man is a gift.
anyone going to interview him about this wuhan 400 conronavirus he wrote about 40 yrs ago and stated in the book it would be a bioweapon unleashed in 2020?????????????????????????????????????????
Dean Koontz is not only a prolific writer, but an interesting one. Every Koontz book I have ever read has drawn my interest - and that is hard to do. I expect a believable story line in a book, characters drawn from everyday life, and the "Odd Thomas" stories satisfy both. Sitting down with a Koontz book in an afternoon is a pleasure and an escape from daily cares which I really need. Thanks Dean Koontz!!
Mr. Koontz has been my FAVORITE author for almost 35 years. When I win the lottery (LOL), one of the first things I'll do is explore the possibility of spending a day with him. I'm sure he gets that a lot, and who knows if he'd entertain it, but what a thrill it would be to just spend time, shooting the breeze and asking questions... ❤️
He's a nice, humble guy. I just read 'Demonseed' and it's chillingly prophetic in its themes. It speaks of microchips inserted into people's brains which can be controlled by AI. How spooky is that, since this technology is now avaailble, and will most likely be implemented.
I love dean koontz now it makes sense what he said in the foreword of one of his books that if he didnt become an author his next option was gonna be involving weapons and airplanes
I’ve only read two books of his; The Good Guy and The Darkest Evening of The Year. While I felt the latter book lacked a tiny bit story wise, I do love his style and will read more of his.
My childhood was probably worse than Koontz’ childhood. No kid I met in my childhood do I still know today. And if you wanna know the truth, I’m not sure I’d wanna still know any of them any more anyway. But when it comes to bad childhoods and just a bad life in general, few people can compete with me. My life is so bad that I can’t even write about any of it, because it will just end up with the lead character taking his own life.
"'My name is Odd Thomas. I lead a very unusual life.' Where does that come from? a higher plane, higher creativity, God...a guardian angel." an entire chapter handwritten in several hours. The Bible tells us gifts, abilities are from the Holy Spirit. Dolly Partin says she keeps a similar pad by her bed for the times she's awakened in the night with pieces of a song--or, its entirety. Dean Koontz, Dolly Partin, etc. didn't choose their craft; it chose them. How people use their talents is their decision to make. RUclips: "World Over - 2012-10-18 - Exclusive bestselling suspense author Dean Koontz with R. Arroyo" It's possible Mr. Koontz's public interviews on his books is his testimony and an extension of what he attests to in his books.
The underrated horror author who believes his characters can have happy endings. Phantoms, Cold Fire, The Bad Place, AND STRANGERS DESERVE MOVIES AND SERIES BASED ON THEM!!! LOL. My Grandmother was an ER nurse for decades. She is the one who got me into reading. She bought whatever book I wanted. Starting from Kindergarten. I started reading from three years old. She admitted that she LOVED King, but Koontz SCARED the crap out of her. PHANTOMS was her favorite and she told me she threw it across the room while reading because she was so scared. Dean Koontz deserves the same attention that King does. And he doesn't RAMBLE ON LIKE TOLKIEN like King does. Dean Koontz, Stephen King, and other authors were my escape as a kid. GOD I WANT FOUR STORIES to be adapted CORRECTLY. Phantoms, Strangers, Cold Fire, and The Bad Place.
What about eyes of darkness written in 1981 about the virus Wuhan 400!!! That was made in a lab outskirts of Wuhan in China and taken by the research doctor to America when he fled from China!
that my dearest friend means it was all planned just like everything. they throw it in our faces yet millions even more don't ever see or understand it
Odd Thomas is first and only book I've read by Dean Koontz. Unlikely I'll read the series as it just wasn't captivating enough for me but there's a few books by him that I do want to read!
He is my favorite author forever and always I just love the way he incorporates animals and history and how he makes women heroes that's another thing I just love him
Not only him. I've heard elswhere people talking about it as a military lab dedicated to bio warfare since the 70s. It was not a secret, at least when he wrote the book in the 80s. He may get some details from a CIA agent freind or somthing like that, but nothing esoteric or supernatural there
As soon as my husband shared a post about this guy on Facebook regarding wuhan 400, I had to find this here on RUclips. Im still puzzled as to how he know about wuhan in 1981? How could he predicted this?

He hunts and pecks at the keys? If he had learned to type correctly he would have had twice as many books out! 🤠 (I reccomend “Intensity”-awesome book.)
I never understood the toupee. He has all these book pictures of himself as a balding man and he doesn't look bad. Then one day, BOOM, he has this toupee that in my opinion at least, doesn't look very good. The first time I bought a book where he was wearing it in the picture, I thought it was a joke. Love his humbleness, love his writing but that toupee needs to go.
Ridiculously prolific author. A kindhearted, humble, down to earth guy who managed to survive a very poor and psychologically-damaged upbringing. He deserves to enjoy all the fruit of his incredible success. And unlike King, stays clear of politics and government bashing and mudslinging. I would imagine he's too busy for that nonsense if he's writing 10 hours a day. I have nothing but tremendous of respect for Koontz as a person. Oh yeah--and his books are awesome.
It's clear you're a conservative (or a "libertarian"), because Koontz goes into politics in practically all his books written in the last 20 years and regularly bashes ideas associated with the left. He actually does it more than King bashes the right.
Thank you Dean Koontz for the brilliance and honesty and generosity of your books. You've entertained and touched the hearts of this constant reader. Oh, and fuck that aarondavid826--he's the real jester in this court, heh.

Does it say in the book .. What's the cure? How to stop spreading? How to protect ourselves? I will try Amazon to purchase a book. Thanks for sharing this information.
I don't think so. I think it's just him being outside of his comfort sone. I get similar ticks and twiches sometimes when I have to interact with people I'm not completely comfortable with. Hearing what he had to endure during his childhood, I don't find it strange at all that he has some quirks like that. It doesn't take anything away from his incredible talent though - I've been a huge fan since I read The Bad Place when I was twelve.
I don't know about desperate but it looks unnatural and weird. It has always bothered me from the first book I bought where he started wearing it in the picture on the book jacket. Like wait, what???
He can write so.many books because he has about THREE plots. His books are variations of these same limit2d plots. And, despite his fame, only about every THIRD book is worth reading!
Koontz is a creationist, he thinks non-religious people have no morals, he's a terrible writer on sentence-by-sentence and book-by-book basis, and his right-wing TV anchor bouffant is utterly hilarious.
I finished reading Saint Odd at work, and had to fight back tears. I love Dean Koontz's work, what an amazing man!

I'm happy that he does. hope and pray it doesn't affect his health.
I love this man!! He is by far my favorite author. I am looking forward to my next installment of the Jane Hawk adventures. Dean Koontz is brilliant!!
No doubt the best writer EVER
The first novel I ever read was Midnight my sister gave me. Avid reader and Koontz fan for life.
The first book of Koontz that I read was dragon tears, my son left the book in the car while he went to apply for a job, I figured the book was for teens but started reading to have something to do while waiting. I love Odd and all of his stories.
I love Dean Koontz books. I started to collect his books since I read the first one"Servants of the Twilight". He's been my favourite since then.

He predicted the corrona virus also in a 1981 novel

He's the only author I buy the majority of the time, you're great
I love Dean Koontz
Nobody does it better, incredible author
When it comes to writing, Dean Koontz is a badass. I've read all his books no one else Compares except maybe Tom Clancy
I just discovered dean Koontz from reading the other Emily. So happy to find they're over a hundred more books from him to read
I’ve only read two books of his; The Good Guy and The Darkest Evening of The Year. While I felt the latter book lacked a tiny bit story wise, I do love his style and will read more of his.
My favorite author.I've read all his work.
one of my favorite writers, very humble. lovely energy he exudes.
I HAVE ALL HIS HARDCOVER BOOKS.THE MAN IS GENIUS.
Wish I could see more Koontz movies.

Well, Dad, your renditioning of my private life is like one of your stories, failure becomes conquest.
I am reading night chills at the moment
Beautiful wig
Gotta love the banality of journalist questions
It seemed no one gave attention to his virus prediction before, they only looking for his genius writings.
If you read his books. He has probably over 100 conspiracy theories in his books. Bound to get one kinda right I guess 🤣.
4:26 wrong thinking! it made him a bestselling millionaire. life is tough whether you like or not and there's no escape

Did he predicted corona virus?
apparently and the yr it would go viral. something aint right here.

I wonder if you remember me Mr. K.
I always thought dean Koontz looked like roy orbison or Dr Octopus.
Dean is wearing a wig right? A cool wig.🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
His hair reminds me of the the boy band the monkees.
Yes. If you look at his earlier book jacket pictures, his hair is thinning and he looks normal. That wig/toupee is kind of strange.

Yes
If you look at interviews, I believe as far back as 2012, there's a tremor in his face-especially when he speaks.

I don't have one happy memory of my dad either. And he's still alive, yep still nothing positive there.
