Out of curiosity started to look into RW for ps2 Dev. Came as far as trying to compile game framework, which i failed miserably. Thought I could compile Elf from graphics SDK then run it from MCBoot, but so far I can’t build anything being noob in this stuff. And almost no internet sources of documentation other than RW docs... Looking at your setup, that really neat! Good luck with your work!
I'm attempting to get RW3 and RWStudio working for the ps2 with a small team on discord. if you would like to tag along and possibly give some input lmk and I'll give you my discord.

Ive been trying to find how to use renderware on windows, ive barely been able to find any documentation, ive installed it, but i dont know where to run it.
you just installed the renderware skeleton for the PS2. if you want to actually use the editor- then you need to install it separately, found here:www.obscuregamers.com/threads/renderware-studio-now-cracked-unity-like-game-engine-for-ps2-gamecube-xbox-and-pc.2852/ be aware, you'll need to run this on a windows XP machine or VMWare with correct GPU drivers installed.
Install RenderWare (Electronic Arts) and Adobe/Macromedia Director (Adobe Systems Incorporated) on Windows prior to installing The Barbie Diaries: High School Mystery (Activision) Then, drag the game files to RenderWare Dragging the game program to Adobe/Macromedia Director opens the files
no, entirely different. I have documented the TOOL on my channel, I reccomend you watch the development environment setup video for an idea, I showed both the unix board and ps2 board startup
@@pjthegreat1 nah it's development hardware from Sony, if you look closely it says "property of sony" it has two mothetboards in it and it's used to control the machine code going through the MIPS EE CPU. this video is showing compiled examples running on the TOOL from the RenderWare 3 SDK.
yeah. i have the sdk, compilers, linkers, live hardware debuggers, 3dsmax 6.1, renderware studio 2.01, renderware SDK, codewarrior IDE&COM UTIL, Pro DG and windows XP professional machines with CRTs.
that's not how that works, if only it were that simple. The PS2 TOOL is a network target you can send compiled assembly to where a RedHat Linux PC controls the PS2 board. You can get debug control over compiled assembly assuming it is a DEBUG build of the ELF with all debug hooks in place. ISOs and Retail Discs have their ELF compiles all without debug hooks. So to answer question, No. Not any game, Only assembly that contains debug hooks. You can monitor and debug entirely with the ProDG suite for PS2 (it connects to the redhat machine to give/recieve data), This includes the Debugger not not just the terminal.
no point and not possible. The bios is already in the SDK in the link in the description and it doesn't post on retail and TEST PS2s. Unless you manually start the EE, GS, IOP and DEV9 modules. Even if you do you can't actually run anything. You need the TOOL board to feed ELF files into the ps2 board. You can try, never know what you might be able to do but the BIOS is in the SDK.
@@greyskiesrainfallandpeace3006 I smell a good challenge... Where is it on the SDK? Is there anything online that describes how the dev kit works? Can it be emulated on a PS2?

Would the ELFs running on a PS2 with FreeMCBoot? If so I would be interested.
yes, you can compile these ELFs for retail. Technically SDK comes with project files for codewarrior, not working ELFs out the box.
