Hear me out, let's combine the 2 Brianna creates new cocktails with the new spirit and they have to rate it.... guaranteed to bring a smile to all our faces. And a grimace to theirs.
And in this episode, Daniel is dressed as one of the Highlanders that hid from all of society for 1000's of years under the mean streets of Texarkana, only to get his head chopped off by Connor MacLeod in the first 5 minutes of the 3rd movie as he surfaced to get a bacon and egg McGriddle and a 40oz.
It’s honestly just fun to pause the video at random times and see all of Brianas hilarious faces… Everytime you pause you get a new potential thumbnail 😂
While watching this at Christmas, I had a thought. My heritage is Lithuanian and the national drink of Lithuania is a krupnik, (called Krupnikas in Lithuania), which is a traditional sweet alcoholic drink similar to a liqueur, based on grain spirit, (usually vodka nowadays), and honey. I've read that it's early origins come from an ancient Mongol drink. Lithuanian people often make their own at home, including at Christmas, and there are many family recipe variations. Traditional versions will use 80-100% grain alcohol as the base. Honey, usually clover honey, is the main ingredient used to add sweetness, as well as up to 50 different herbs. I'd love to see if you guys can not only make it, but maybe create a new spirit by combining the spices and honey and fermenting that base, rather than just making Krupnikas with an existing spirit. Here is one recipe as an example: Krupnikas Lithuanian Honey Liqueur Ingredients 2 teaspoons caraway seed 10 whole cloves 10 whole allspice 4 sticks cinnamon 2 sticks vanilla 2 pieces yellow ginger 2 pieces white ginger 10 cardamom seeds ½ nutmeg 3 strips orange rind 3 strips lemon rind 1 pinch saffron 4 cups water 2 lbs honey 1 quart grain alcohol Procedure Crack cardamom seeds and nutmeg. Boil spices, rind and water in a covered pot until liquid is reduced to about 2 cups. Strain. In a pot large enough to hold the spiced liquid, alcohol and honey, bring honey to a boil. Skim off the foam. Pour spiced liquid into honey and stir. Remove from heat. Place far away from heat to prevent flare-up or explosion of alcohol. Slowly, and very carefully, pour in alcohol. Replace pot on low heat. Heat, being careful not to simmer or boil, for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool in the same covered pot overnight. Following day, pour into bottles and allow to settle (about 2 weeks). The longer it sits, the clearer it becomes and the better it tastes.
This just struck me as a very DnD setup with Dan's hoodie and all of the reactions. Dan is the Whiskey Wizard, Breanna the Barbarian and Rex the Innkeeper NPC.
In fairness I’d imagine the candy cane infusion literally has sugar in it. So to compare the oils + flavors it might be necessary to add a comparable amount of sugar into the distilled version. But that red flavor though
Here's a Christmas joke for Briana: It's 5PM on Christmas Eve and nothing is ready to go at the North Pole. The elves are on strike, the reindeer has diarrhea, and Mrs. Claus is fed up and threatening to leave. In the midst of the chaos, an angel drags in a Christmas tree and bright says "Santa, where do you want me to put this?" And that is why there's an angel at the top of the Christmas tree.
I feel like Rex and Briana are always hopped up on sugar and caffeine. "Here we see two of the species in their natural habitat. They will keep this pace for hours on end never blinking."
You've tried Durian Fruit, Watermelon, and after this, I'd be curious to see what distilling a pineapple 🍍 would look, smell, and taste like whether it's similar to the Candy Canes, or not with that Mint note.
It would be interesting to see where the peppermint flavor (and other terpenoids) came out in the distillation vs ethanol. My guess is there is a cut that has an ideal mixture of both. If you know someone with a GC-MS, that'll give you the answer.
Peppermint is almost impossible to get rid of. Once it is part of something it stays part of it. You should try this with milder mints like winter mint and spearmint. They are not as overpowering as peppermint but still give that refreshing feel and taste.
You need to try and distill MENTOS!!!! Specifically I feel that the Green apple or Strawberry would be amazing! The sugar content shouldn't be a problem so it would be straight down to flavor! if it works the cocktails I feel you would be able create from it would be INSANE! I would love to see it in a cocktail with 1-2 Mentos dropped in as garnish because of the effect! As they dissolve they let off a ton of color streamers in alcohol so a swirl of the glass I think would be very visually appealing)
This video is the first video I have watched from your channel and you honestly gave a good laugh, the energy you bring to this entertaining video is amazing 100/10
Great video, y’all! Now with Christmas and New Year’s almost over I guess the next major holiday is Easter. Can’t wait for you guys to distill some Cadbury Eggs!
I tried some shine that was made with the wintergreen mints that old people always have in their candy bowls and it was amazing, so I can only imagine out good that would be. We mixed it with mudslide mix and it tasted like an extreme girl scout cookie. I think it was about 130 proof according to the forest/hill person who made it. This was in Southern Indiana like 15 minutes from Kentucky, so if you know the area I'm sure you know exactly what I mean with my description of the guy.
Some friends and I did this at my house 3 years ago, still some of the most memorable spirits we've made. We laughed for like 10 minutes straight after taking the first sip and realizing the mint flavours were still present (and strong as hell)
Many years ago I put a handful of mary jane in a bottle of 190 proof everclear and let it sit on a shelf for a month. Strained it out afterwards and it made some fantastic cocktails!!
You should wrap your rain barrel in insulation especially around the spicket part where that broke or build a greenhouse type thing to keep it warm so it doesn't freeze again I live in NY Just a tip
Love these videos, but I’ve been re-watching a lot of the whiskey curious videos where you introduce people to different whiskey categories. I think those are the best and would love to see some new episodes like that.
You should try a drink called "Marianne". It's usually made with Peppermint vodka, but could work with your candy cane version. The recipe is: in a glass. ice, pour in 20ml candycane alcohol, 20ml chocolate liquor, top with milk. It's popular a christmassy drink or when you go skiing. Also works anywhere anytime you want an easy dessert drink.
just on that mr black ad. I happen to live right near where that is made in australia. i dont like coffee and i LOVE it. Its seriously good. So if youre not into coffee who cares, its just damn good.
I'm not saying you should steel this but when I was in the Army in Germany, we found a super thin mint liquor that was like what you have EXTREMELY potent in taste, the way we managed to drink it all was we bought Creme De Cocoa mixer and we would put half a shot on top of the creme de cocoa, it tasted EXACTLY like a Yorkshire peppermint patty. Drank as a "bomb."
I like how after all of the wild success and internet money, Rex is still rocking the Ford Focus. They don't make those anymore, it may be a collector's item one day.
In Germany we have a peppermint liquor called Pfeffi that every 16 year old brings to parties because it's like 3€ a bottle and you don't really taste the alcohol I have made a lot of bad and good memories with this drink lmao
Have you tried distilling Captan Crunch? There’s a lot of versions but the mix of very sugary, but with that corn grain might make for a fun take on a Bourbon.
I have no idea how this video got into my recommended page but I am not even one minute in and I’m already laughing hysterically I think I’m gonna have a good time here
These vids are a great example of how terpenes distil off at different temperatures. It would be cool if you tried to predict the outcome based on the terp profile of the input material.
Rumple Minze, which comes in at 100 proof is fantastic in real hot cocoa. The darker the cocoa the better and it tastes like drinking a York peppermint patty.
You should add the mintspirit as a finish in a pink panther. May sound strange but it really works. Or just do as we do in Scandinavia and add it to hot chocolate 😁😁
Just watched your coffee distill from 2 years ago. Got me thinking. I have access to a surplus ,I think , 10gallon military chow hall coffee pot. I'm thinking pot still. If not a still ,perculating the mash. Make for easy clean up ,or one pot operation since it is well insulated. Your thoughts.
The “will it distill?” is easily the best thing ever on this channel
Nah, Brianna making random tiktok/themed drinks is best :-P
Hear me out, let's combine the 2 Brianna creates new cocktails with the new spirit and they have to rate it.... guaranteed to bring a smile to all our faces. And a grimace to theirs.
@@benjaminpage4911 I'd watch that. Probably several times, each. Lol

Just having a bad-hair-day
This is a funny enough comment without me needing to know what it’s referencing but also, what??
There can be only o- ooh, is that a McGriddle?
As long as he isn't that silly back flipping guy from Part 1.
Happy Halloween, ladies.
So you basically made Ultra Extreme Peppermint Schnapps. *Awesome*
Or Crème de menthe
or peppermint extract. That stuff does have a high proof.
you mean Rumplemintz, which is 100 proof Peppermint Schnapps
I’d buy a bottle of this stuff.
Mouthwash.
They made mouthwash.

I just did that to start reading the comments, and yeah... Here she is with an angry face and a tongue sticking out. XD
This episode is brought to you by Mr. Black, so cheers to evil.
It's pretty funny when she's acting coked up at the beginning, but it's not that far off her usual energy. I was cracking up
I love how happy and excited you all looked after tasting the 151 proof, like Christmas morning

Just as a tip to deal with the freezing weather, open the taps just a bit so you have moving water which will help keep pipes and stuff from freezing.
Did that my pipes burst and there was a foot of ice in my house just finished fixing it

So on an unrelated note Peppermint Schnapps is known as Milwaukee Mouthwash. Dr McGillicuddy's is popular in these parts
