- Hello guys and gals, it's me Mutahar again! This time we take a look at what appears to be a situation where a bunch of modders are using the API allegedly to send a mass amounts of reports and send accounts to being permanently banned. Microsoft should address this and offer a fix. Thanks for watching!

Hi

no
i was about to say first
Xbox bomb!!!
If a service provider decides to terminate user accounts, they should be required by law to provide a refund for any licenses to software which are still valid.
I would love to get banned, I’d be getting a few thousand
i dunno why they don't just like, block you from services but still allow you to keep the games on the account, as long as it's not something like a stolen account which they couldn't return to whoever's it was.
"All licences will be revoked upon user ban" - literally every tos if this is made a thing
We are desperate for some kind of clarification from legislators and Regulators for what digital ownership even means. I honestly think it should be required by law for there to be some kind of window of time. That's guaranteed or some kind of refund if that's not met. Or maybe that these companies can't even call it " buying something" when the terms of service point out that you're basically just renting a license to use it
@@Capiosus Yes on Steam, Epic, Xbox Pass, etc you don't own the game, That's why consoles like Nintendo or PS are still important since they have Physical support unlik PCs (the famous PC master race who doesn't own their games and cannot resell them, laughable)... I don't say Xbox since I had many problems with their consoles and Client service problems since their consoles is crap and bad for preservation... 360 was a headache (i send it 4 times for repair and then they refused even if it's their fault (blocpower and redlight) ), microsoft and hardware was always bad (phones, consoles etc)... and the next xbox they tried to force digital.
Thank you for making a video to bring more attention to this issue! Hopefully Microsoft puts out a fix soon.

I'm so glad you are covering this and I hope more people talk about this. Something like this shouldn't even exist to the point where you lose all your games
I constantly get new information I never knew from muta

They need to reinstate and compensate any and everyone affected by this after they fix the issue. If they refuse to they should be sued by everyone affected cause it’s insane that someone could loose their account of many years like that and not have done anything wrong. Nobody wants to hear any excuse on why they can’t reinstate any unfairly banned accounts, the moment they put out a statement like that is the moment all the lawsuits need to start being filed

@@PlaystationTalkshe’s talking about people banned by this tool, not the script kiddies, lol
The moment you agreeded to Xbox ToS to make a purchase, you waived your right to sue Microsoft via forced arbitration. You don't own your digital games, and none of these companies care about their customers.
@@KingSulley that shouldn’t apply when someone was hacked and banned. These people pay a lot of money for this and have years of experience on there, they need to be accountable for when they have security issues, they owe their customers that much. The people who make these hacking software scripts should also be sued for everything they can be for
@@Guine523i agree that it shouldn't be the case, but it is. Every company on earth has been exploiting forced arbitration in similar ways.
This is why you never join random Xbox parties, too much shit can go wrong.
Exactly I very rarely join parties of people I know lol
Yeah gone the days of randomly joining Xbox party’s, while jamming og mw2
I believe they don’t even need to invite u to their party they could do it when they search ur name or when ur in their game
@@yoshitsune5691 yep, I remember when it used to be a small chance of getting DDOS’d, now you can get permanently banned by a hacker.
It’s just not worth it anymore.
Joining random parties be it Xbox discord or anything is a bad idea in general
As someone who plays GTA Online on Xbox and has thousands of dollars invested into digital games on it, this has really been making me nervous, I've also noticed an increase in party invites from random people, they better get this fixed soon.
Change your Xbox account Privacy & online safety settings and you won't get any random invites. Seems like most people this is affecting just have default settings on.
omg yeah that explains why I see random invites to parties too.
@@phillyrepnwill that keep me safe?
@@MitsubishiLancerEvo Yes, it allows you to modify and control your experience while gaming and using the console. It's a shame most people just dive in the game and leave this stuff until the last minute. You don't have to interact with a single person to play on Xbox, it's very possible by changing your Account privacy & safety settings.
Can be done even if you’re not in their party so ig that means more or less to worry about.
It still amazes me how MS and Sony got away with being legally able to ban a console. That's basically remotely bricking hardware that I paid money for.
You can play with a banned console, just don't connect it online and you can play offline games. The moment you connect online, it's toast. 🪦
Yeah I agree, but people can get into extremes and thats why they do it, unless youll harrass 7 years old Timmy ur fine
It's because YOU/ME/WE agree to the terms of service that specifically says they can do this.
@@jirisykora2104so ban xbox live from those people, disable the chat/party function and at least let them have access to games where they can by no means communicate with people or use game breaking mods that affect others.
Thats because they are able to make their own terms of service/purchase that the customer basically signs upon making the purchase.
Its our fault for deciding that the things we want matter more to us then the things we will lose.
I question why they do not have a delete queue at minimum so they can take the time to individually review these, or a system to detect suspicious reporting, such as flagging someone who just got several reports at once as a potential false report to be reviewed? i think giving the user the benefit of the doubt would be a much better system.
Crazy thing is they could easily find a way to prevent bot-spam reports by getting the hack themselves and testing the hack on a dummy account to see the frequency, the account's creation date, how many games the bot-account reporting own and so on.
First thing any new/old account with no game shouldn't be valid report and just be dumped as spam.
Any report from an account that does not own the same game or "played" the same game at the same date within ~24h as the player they are reporting shouldn't be valid.
The fact that this hack is even possible is crazy.
No legit account would report a player they:
-never met
-played against a whole week later (unless a video clip get attached to a report)
@@TwinShards Exactly. Microsoft's automated systems are just lazy shit that don't do anything to actually protect valid reports and issues, and instead seem to just benefit people using exploits and hacks to spam em. It's like how you have stuff like cloudflare to prevent DDOS and stuff, and yet microsoft have no equivalent on xbox servers that can go "Hey this fresh account sent 100 reports in like 10 minutes this can't be legit"
Theres always been a problem with people being able to grab your ip if you join a party, this is even worse though. hopefully Microsoft can do something about these problems.
Yeah, fuck playing online for a while on xbox...
The problem with grabbing from party's has been fixed for a while since Microsoft semi moved to dedicated servers pretty much at least they moved it like 2021 if I remember most grabbing is still from games having p2p
Maybe if rockstar wasn't allergic to any form of any form of privacy protection this wouldn't have been an issue
@@Detested yea haven’t been on the box in a bit but sounds about right. billion dollar corporation do the bare minimum challenge(INSANE & IMPOSSIBLE)

Where are the "physical is preservation" guys now? I think people still don't fully understand that since 2013, the consoles are full DRM boxes. The only exceptions so far are the PS4 and Switch because they can be jailbroken. The others however.. you're at the mercy of the companies.
What? Back in the day, Microsoft was all about security and privacy. The fact that something like this could happen to Microsoft in this modern age of technology is absolutely outrageous. I dont usually go in xbox parties, but now I know I won't be going in any at all if I'm given an invite.

This has been a known issue. If you ever - EVER - have someone trying to invite you to a random party or if someone is beefed off with you from a game of DBD and invites you never accept because they can do stuff like this.
xbox party chat historically was always a way for hackers to get access to your ip if you joined one of their parties back in the xbox 360 days (I think it those were peer-to-peer connections).
Glad this BS is finally being addressed hopefully the victims of this get unbanned and these assholes get perma ban in return

I remember getting banned in halo 4 playing regicide online with a friend and 6 afk controllers farming assassinations for venator armor, kept the armor and got unbanned 3 days later, favorite memory with my middle school friend, miss ya James
As someone who has been banned from a hacker you do lose all the stuff you purchased. I can't even download my old account that has all my stuff I paid for on it anymore. This is why I prefer physical media over digital cause all that money wasted and gone.
It seems odd that Muta would buy digital games, with him being a big supporter of game preservation. This video is a great example of why physical media is important for preservation.
I mean there's quite a few versions of games on specific consoles that you can't get the physical disl for. In fact there's a large handful of games that are digital only.
That and GOG. More stores should be like GOG but that gets in the way of greed so it wont happen.
Emulation is the true path to preservation, not physical.

A few years ago when you could use certain free websites to DDOS players (I assume you still can, but the website I used to use was ceased by the FBI), I decided to look into how to potentially get IP addresses from people's gamertags, thinking to myself "it would be such bullshit if it were easy to do that". Lo and behold, a free website for that existed. I tested it with a friend, they told me their IP so I'd know if it was actually giving me the correct one, and it somehow did.
This didn't work for anywhere near every gamertag, I imagine getting IP addresses from gamertags isn't exactly the most efficient way to do that, but it's such bullshit that I was able to do that at all and I think that speaks volumes for Xbox's security on that front. I hate that exploits like what's in the video exist, and I especially hate that the shitty free exploits I was using exists/existed because it didn't take any actual brain power to use.
This is very interesting, I actually assumed this would be about the RCE Vulns on the COD's that they recently revived.
A bot that handles reports not automatically flagging a rate of reports that would exceed the maximum possible number of people played with within a short period, is beyond unreasonably negligent. Oh yes, 1000 reports in 1 hour, when the account is playing a game that can't have more than 16 people per match, and has only played 6 matches in this time. Totally real.
Any report not coming from an account that has played with your account or receieved communication from your account should be automatically dismissed. And result in the false reporting account being the one penalised.
They've been doing this for quite some time actually. And yes you're right on the dollar, people have been abusing the API for a long time.
this video is misinform, the tool that was shown in the video no longer works nor never worked the way they're claiming it had worked. people are thinking it is still a thing and its 100% NOT a thing and its just old screenshots. I know some people who are pretty into coding around xbox related things and they're saying that it is all bull shit and that no one should be giving into it. just wanted to make it known to people that it isnt a problem and never will be
@@-from yeah nah I heard about that but the reason I believed it was because api abuse happens frequently for Xbox over the years however I guess any API is abused a lot and some stuff on that tool are actually real stuff that can be pulled from the api like getting offline parties or kicking out a party you don't own

Can be painful trying to deal with these companies too. I had my PS account banned back when Playstation/Sony had that huge 2011 data breach. Someone accessed my account in a COD game (which I don't play on PS) and did something to warrant a ban. I spoke with Playstation who confirmed unusual activity and new console registered and stated the offending console is banned, to which I stated I can still access online through other accounts. Playstation quoted terms and conditions that it was my fault the account was compromised and I should be happy the offending console is at least banned. That it doesn't matter who violates the terms primary user or otherwise. I spoke with a manager and same response, I highlighted the recent data breach and the manager stated that never happened. I asked for money back as I had upwards of £1000+ spent on the account. Nothing!
So I am now a XBOX/PC/Switch player and try to avoid touching my Playstation 5 at all.
Thanks for the heads up Muta!
in the EU it is mandatory upon your request to make the company have a human involved in the loop, but you gotta know and ask for it tho
also you can get them to not take "automated decisions" again opt out. but if you know you can do it and shit like this shouldn't on paper be able to do anything to ou. but if the company's adhere to you r requests is another thing
This is off topic but this happened to me once and never looked up if anyone else had this happened to them. Around 2010-2011 after Halo Reach and Black Ops released I was just vibin around the dashboard and randomly hear the party chat notification that I connected. I then quickly press the Xbox menu while I hear two ladies/females confused and asked why I joined their party. I didn’t know them or know how in the heck I joined and they also sounded hella annoyed a 12 year old like me wanted to ruin their fun 😔 if anyone had this happened to them or got an explanation I’m all ears.
So what would you say is a good way to counteract this or be safer? I never join a random Xbox party invite but I've seen comments suggest you don't need to be in a party for it to happen. I really want to play my Xbox but this news has me pause my activities.
This is why I never mess with the Xbox party chats even when 360 is around I never touch it. Even replying to people on Xbox message app. I am rarely gonna reply to you unless your my friend. Cause stuff like this worrys me due to having the same account I had since 15 so loosing all my years of games saves and achievements etc gone. Is insane
Edit: this is 100% Microsoft need to look into it and put a serious heavy sue against them.
Yup same here I never messaged random accounts and I never joined random parties. I kinda figured someone sooner or later would take advantage of connecting to Xbox parties through pc. Because I actually used to do this type of crap I would use my pc and pull ips from games that were p2p and boot people that were dicks I wasn’t the type of person to randomly boot people unless they deserved it lol but yeah this is exactly why I don’t join random party invites. The only thing that you can’t do anymore in a party is grab ips because Xbox parties are server side now but on 360 all someone would have to do is have you join the party and they would have your ip.
@@D3ADT1MEyah when I was playing black ops 2 the other night I had 3 people message me for party chat. I was like nah deleted it and went back to playing cause for one I don’t know if those people are mods I didn’t take a good look at the account. No reason for me want make any friends unless I go online ask hey anyone wanna Q up for the night or what not. Otherwise I am solo.. it’s sad how people can do it in such a evil way now. Especially people who just wanna come home and chill before showering off to bed.
The scary part about it, is that people who somehow have access to this tool. They don't even need to be in your Xbox party, they can be on their desktop, and they can find your party id, and they can see whos in it, they can hear everyone, they can see what games they are playing, they can see if it's invite only or not, they can even crash the party with a click of a button. This tool is deadly, not only that, I'm in a Discord server, these people aren't stupid, they are really intelligent, from modding, to actually taking apart the gaming system, putting new tech chips into it, and running it with some scripts. There are over 182 of them
Just a heads up in regards to the Xbox Retail Emulation bans, there are only 2 people that have received permanent console/account suspensions, one of those is myself (I'm one of the people behind it) so because I had used an emulator on Retail mode one time in early July (Using an alt account) Microsoft have perma-banned my console and every account on that console, effectively revoking my access to 827 games, a close to 2 decade old account with almost 400,000 Gamerscore and completely banning my console outright leaving me with a fairly expensive paper-weight 🙃
400,000 gamer score and 827 games? Maybe the ban was good for you, you can finally go out and touch grass!
@@Shrimpfried-rice😹😹😹😹😹😹
Console bans should not be a thing. Reselling a console secondhand should be a right.
Holy Moly... I'm becoming hyper vigilant about the pitfalls of relying on account ecosystems. I need to move out of outlook.
Unless someone can explain this to me, my opinion is if you downloaded an emulator in retail mode, then you shouldn't be surprised or unhappy if you're banned, whether it's a system ban or an account ban. I understand it's a fuck ton of money and time investment that's just gone, but that's why you don't gamble with these type of things.
There is something to be happy about though, because this is so rare, if you continue to spread the word then you are doing the world a huge favor and you could save a lot of people a lot of lost money.

I've had friends on PSN in the last few hours get their accounts mass-reported and/or banned for X years or permbanned by malicious attacks like this. If you wish to remedy this issue on any platform:
- Block _any_ players you find suspicious of targeting you for report attacks and keep out of any and all parties associated with them.
- Keep profile visibility to either _close, trusted friends,_ or nobody at all.
The less visible you are to potential attackers, the less likely you are to get hit.

@gorillagroddgaming I had a close friend wake up to his account (and alt acc.) being banned for three years after a (suspected) mass report attack at the time I made the comment. It happened at the same time another close friend of mine and two of his people in a GTA mc-group got reported, those of whom I know of. There may have been more incidents as we've all slept so I'd wager the count has gone up. It may not be as widespread of an issue for PSN as it is Xbox, but it can't be discounted regardless. It's too coincidental that it happened the same time this did.
I remember a similar thing happening on 360. A guy that knew one of my friends joined my party and told me my address and banned me for a day to be a dick. Good to see they didn't do shit to fix it 10 years and 2 consoles later.
Spawned during the 360 days, someone did it to me on bo2. Wasn't sure what it was til I did some digging and found out what modding is. A JTAG & RGH essentially gave you access to just about every info from a player's profile
Can confirm getting a permaban voids everything on the account, happened to me when I was younger.. very expensive mistake lol
And I just downloaded gta v to try it again. Uninstalling it and just sticking to gta 4
Honestly it sucks that people can abuse the system. I got spam reported by a bunch of losers and they got my console banned. Where I lost the money that I had in my Microsoft account all of my DLCs and paid games I wasn't allowed to sign into RUclips or any apps the built-in store would give me an error when I would load it up and they did this to me on two different Xboxes. Also I cannot access the account and they automatically removed it from my Microsoft Family.
That sucks!
if you get banned on an Xbox account you can home that account and then licences tied to that account will get tied to the console instead. also the stasis tools been around for a hot minute, i made a burner acc to see what chicanery it can do and its pretty powerful. also i wouldn't recommend using it because you basically syncs your Xbox/Microsoft account to it so if they wanted to they could use it against you in some some or fashion , that and its just scummy if you use the clandestine features

i’ve been console banned countless times from using my RGH back in the day, my profile has been banned but i can still download all my games.
GTA doesn’t ban people. I have a buddy who has given himself billions of fake gta dollars over the years and he still has his original acc. Main reason why I stopped playing lol. You can’t enjoy the game for any amount of time before a modder who has only been playing for a year comes in and trashed you with the best tools the game can offer. That’s best case scenario. Most of the time you play gta is just waiting for loading screens cause you have to lobby hop every 30 mins to avoid hackers. The p2p servers are embarrassing for a company like Rockstar. Still play gta online every once and awhile. But I always just turn the game off when I headshot someone with a sniper rifle and they turn around and murder me.
As a 30 year old man with no kids and a long xbox history, im confident losing my account would be like speedrunning crying. Id be bawling so fast 😂
So this is why I've been getting party invites from randoms. Good thing that I've been just ignoring them.
Always cool to see muta an Matt still talking
Whoever caused this exploit needs to be in prison
More like the company that lets it happen and doesn't patch it when it happens.
Prison is too kind. A hole in the head is more logical.
@@blisphul8084 clearly the company needs better security, although that doesn't mean the company should be arrested
@@loneliberation3483 I don't think violence is warranted
Imagine being so limpdicked as to try and get people banned for literally no reason other than simply because you've got nothing better to do
To any of those kinds of hackers doing this crap right now, do us all a favor and PLEASE find something better to do with your life, literally anything
Dare I even say, touch grass
Hey Muta, what keyboard do you recommend?
Gotta rotate the Auth cookies periodically. Also, separating out the services that do smaller functions can also help. Then again, what do I know
Okay so it only affects xbox partys for the hackers to get into. Good thing i dont do partys on xbox but instead duscord
Shit good thing I don't have friends and can't do Xbox party's 🤣🤣😭💀
yes duscord is the best
Alright here's two things I don't understand, 1) Why is console ban a thing and 2) How tf do they let this happen, this is seriously ridiculous. PlayStation gonna have a field day with sales if this doesn't get fixed
Console bans are for serious offenders say you harass someone over and over or in the case of account stealing the few times they have console banned I've seen is mass gamerscore modification and when someone stole a developers account also playstation isn't any better considering they still have party's you can pull ips from (the ps part idk just what I've heard)
@@Detested Yeah, btw its in the thing u agree on, buy a PC if ur not okay with it. PlayStation will have no sale OMEGALUL. This happened a lot in the past, dont overreact and be safe
@@jirisykora2104 oh no I'm playing on something with pretty much 0 hackers and don't have to deal with skids being able to hack shut up bro console vs PC isn't a debate both are good console for general chilling out is better no debate son
Sony is currently facing the same issue right now but it's not as noticed as the Xbox one for now.
makes sense as last night some drunk nerd in an xbox RP lobby kept saying he was gonna “add people to the list” if they talked when they weren’t asked. his “list” was what he said was a ban list. he was claiming to be a rockstar staff member too.
Basically if you are on Xbox set your parties to invite only and only invite people you trust
is that the persona 5 ps4 controller skin that came with the physical game when you pre ordered it?
wait why we hating on winrar? is there something im missing, isnt rar the most common compression format for torrents etc?
Thanks for bringing needed attention/ awareness to this.
Hopefully Microsoft actually does something about this, not like they got a load of money to fix it.
this video is misinform, the tool that was shown in the video no longer works nor never worked the way they're claiming it had worked. people are thinking it is still a thing and its 100% NOT a thing and its just old screenshots. I know some people who are pretty into coding around xbox related things and they're saying that it is all bull shit and that no one should be giving into it. just wanted to make it known to people that it isnt a problem and never will be
365 had a big outage a few weeks ago and it was a coding error on their part as everyone speculated foreign attackers lmao
Another helpful tip from Best Buy customer service!! Thanks!
These hackers need to be stopped. I bet they didn't even pay for WinRAR. It's not free, don't forget!
Guys this can only happen to you in an Xbox party. They can’t just do it from your gamer tag. Just don’t join randoms and don’t partake in shady stuff.
that seems naive to think that, unless you have more intimate knowledge on how xbox's party system works
@@PhunkBustA just dont piss off a neckberad and youll be fine
@@TheKing-kd1rn Thing is, these types of "people" evolve their methods. Years ago, it was grabbing info via party. I'd find it hard to believe it hasn't become more advanced than that in over 10 years.
@@PhunkBustA I actually do buddy. Parties use a p2p connection, which is how they can access your account info through Microsoft public api. Most games use a dedicated server not hosted by your own connection and hide your info. I know this works lol. I can go even more indepth if you want me too 🤣
Joining random parties has always been an issue
Even back in the 360 days
This might not even be new. I remember I used to get invites from random people pretty frequently, and when i would ask what was up, they'd respond with some vague bullshit.
Currently half way thru the video but just to make sure I’m correct as long as your not in a Xbox party, you should be good or just Xbox users in general is unsafe
That's what I'm thinking?
Shouldn’t all those reports that are being sent to Microsoft be under the same username? So Microsoft sees it’s just one person reporting someone too much?
It's possible it's hundreds of bot accounts on Xbox reporting.
@@CelicaSNC Ah that makes sense. Makes you wonder why all those bot accounts are allowed.
@@stephanossfirtsis4580 cause they are still completely/mostly valid accounts. Valid emails and passwords. That's sorta all it really takes.
You're doing gods work Mutahar. Great vid
Glad this is being talked about.
GTA Online is as enjoyable as getting your fingers slammed into a car door. The GTA Online subreddit is as enjoyable as having that same car catch on fire while your hand is caught in the door.
Glad I stay on my beautiful PS2 , never wasting my money on these newer game consoles.
